Prince William Wants The Ladies To Think He Is Single

Despite his wedding possibly being watched by a quarter of the world's population, Prince William does not want to put all his eggs in one basket. Specifically he has announced he will not wear a wedding band. This way when he heads off to the deepest darkest jungles of Africa and people with no televisions he can pretend he is not married. Yes, that ring tan line would have given him away. Maybe this is his way of hanging on to the single life. Maybe Kate Middleton does not love him enough to put a ring on it. Maybe he thinks there are four or five people who will think he is Joe Blow from Derby and would be more likely to sleep with him if he is not wearing a ring. Maybe he is saving himself for his true love Camila.

So, the vows will go something like this:

William: With this ring, I thee wed.
Kate: With this imaginary circle I am making with my fingers, I thee wed.

Should make for fabulous television.

Je-sus. Who is writing this? Adrianna Costa?

It's bordering on painful at this point.

whatever works for him. not every married couple wants to wear wedding bands.

btw, he will cheat and she will turn a blind eye.

My husband lost his ring years ago. It never seemed important to us to replace it. I don't see the big deal.

Also, it's not as if people don't know who he is, he's not going to pull one over on some young lady!

Somehow I don't see Prince William at the bar in the Cleveland Hyatt pretending he's single in order to pick up a cocktail waitress.

agree, lanasyogamama - it will be hard for him to feign being single anywhere he goes ;) That being said, isn't it written into the Royals' marriage contract that both are allowed to cheat?

"Maybe he is saving himself for his true love Camila."

Huh?

@loserdude,
Maybe not the Cleveland Hyatt, but possibly the Columbus Embassy Suites.

In my office half the men do not wear a wedding band. My highly educated suspicion is also the wedding band wearing men are also the most likely to cheat at every opportunity. Your office may be different.

My DH is a doctor and said from the very beginning he would never wear a wedding band. He's end up leaving in the OR.

Maybe they're running out of Welsh gold?

Or maybe he doesn't want to 'welsh' on his marriage like his father did.

My dad and neither of my grandfathers wore wedding rings, ever. Never owned them. All 3 guys were married til death did them part. Some guys just don't want to wear them.

I also thought they may be low on that supply of Welsh gold gifted to the queen. It is a possible reason.

Either way, it's their business and I can't believe this has blown into the story that it has become.

Big deal so he doesn't want to wear a ring, so what. Does this mean he will cheat? Unless you are one of the rare ones to respect your vows. I doubt very much he will respect his vows.

We had a double ring ceremony, but my husband rarely wears his ring. He wears it to work, takes it off as soon as he gets home. He is prone to losing it, so I'm okay with this compromise.

This story came out yesterday, so it's not an April 1st thing. :)

My parents have been married for 45 years, and my father never wore a wedding ring. He hates jewelry and he's never cheated on my mom...ever. I don't think it's a big deal, especially cause the old tradition in London was a man never wore a ring until WWI. They actually wear it on their pinky finger, like Prince Charles does.

I don't think it's a big deal. Not like being married ever stopped a royal (or many other men for that matter) from cheating.

Personally, I think he is VERY much in love with her. In the interview they gave with Martin Bashir after their engagement announcement, did you see the way he looked at her? That dude is totally in love with her!!!

This is such a non-story. My husband and I are about to have our 6th anniversary... both of us frequently don't wear our rings, its bc we were both slightly fatter when we got married and now the rings are loose so we don't want to lose them (well I don't think I would lose mine without realizing it, my husband on the other hand definitely would). We take them off as soon as we get home and many mornings forget to put them on. That doesn't mean either of us have intentions of cheating, it just means that the ring isn't whats really important, its the commitment.

That being said who knows what "contracts" any of us have with our spouses, royal or otherwise, marriage means different things to different people.

Slow news day.
