Because Your 8 Year Old Needs To Show Off Her Breasts

I guess I should not be shocked anymore, but I am. I guess my biggest shock is that Noah Cyrus is not the one who is plugging this new line of bikinis from Abercrombie & Fitch. Have you seen the new line? The bikinis, designed for girls under the age of 10 come with padded bras. Yep, a push up bra for your 8 year old. All those perverts that hid behind their computers have a new reason to head to the beaches and pools this summer. My questions is who the hell would let their kid wear a padded bra at 8? My second question is A&F must have done some marketing and must think a whole lot of people are going to buy them. Yes, we all know Joe Simpson would have bought them for his daughters, but would anyone normal ever do so?

DISGUSTING!

I can remember going into an A&F for kids years ago and seeing thong underwear for children.
Revolting.

Totally OT--did I miss the radio show? Is there a link to it somewhere like there was two weeks ago?

Ok, this is obviously disgusting on some level - but to offer an opposing viewpoint:

Many girls under the age of 10 have already gone through puberty and have breasts. It happens younger and younger these days. Sometimes the padding isn't so much for the false-creation of breasts as it is for hiding the topographical details of the breasts underneath.

selenakyle said...

I'm kinda with Amanda on this one...if it is just a thick "cup" that's one thing. I almost died anytime I thought anyone could see a hint of my little skeeter bites during puberty, and swim suits were just a thin piece of lycra or cotton or whatever.

I got breasts in 5th grade which was 10 yrs old, menstruation at 11 (how god-awful and soul-crushing it all was).

With all the GD hormones in food these days I can totally believe girls are developing even younger than 10 yrs old (poor little things).

But padding to CREATE boobies is sick and disgusting and do not get me started on the whole Toddlers & Tiaras shit and the overall sexualizing of little girls OMG OMG OMG!

*breathe*

I am with Amanda & Selena. I don't see where it says it is a push-up bra, as opposed to a padded bra. A padded bra is just keeping the child modest. Bathing suits get wet and you come out of the water and you and your 8 year old daughter DON'T want the pervs to be able to see her unmentionalable parts.

I remember when I was 8 or 9 and flatter than a board, I tried to leave the house one day wearing my older sister's two-piece (with cups) bathing suit (I was going to the local pool with a friend). I thought I looked fan-tastic! My mother and my friend blocked the front door and wouldn't let me leave until I changed into my rather boring, age-appropriate bathing suit. I can laugh about it now, but really it was very inappropriate.

Like some others have noted, girls today hit puberty at a younger age, but to market padded bathing suit tops to kids under 8 is really pushing it. And sick.

Man, at 8 I pretty much ran around naked, or in a t-shirt. We didn't often go to public beaches though so I guess that might be a different thing.

It says right on the ad:
Ashley
push up triangle

They ARE marketing it as a push up, not a modesty top.

According to our local news, this was originally called a "push up" as shown on this screen grab, but was changed to a "padded triangle" once all heck broke loose.

If you go on their website now, the Ashley is missing altogether. It was there this morning.

Yes! "Push up triangle" right in the second line. I am with linnea on this one. And I do hope this line will be financialy unsuccessful, so other companies don't catch this "great" marketing idea

Naturally, I'm a prude and I refuse to allow my daughters (all under 10) to wear any kind of string bikinis. Or maybe it's the sand in my vagina that makes me do it, eh Nightmare? :P

Ugh, not not NOT appropriate. Be heard with your dollars, folks. Don't buy (or buy into) this crap. The fashion industry has never pretended to give a shit about values and what is/isn't status quo based on the reality of what we normal people would be caught wearing in public. They just want to be 'cutting edge' and 'trend$etter$'

Majik, I think he made mention last week that the radio show wasn't going to happen on Sat (3/25) but would happen this upcoming Sat.

Has the format for the blog changed? No more random photos and blinds? I feel like I missed something.

selenakyle said...

Oh really---Push-up Triangle?

Well Eff that, then! (I didn't read the whole thing)

Gyahh!

Mary Stewart-McGovern said...

I'm not sure I'd allow my (almost) 16 year old wear that. Granted, she's a D cup and doesn't want or need the padding and/or pushing up. Lucky for me, my (almost) 8 year old still likes one-pieces and dressing/acting "age appropriate".

There was a psychologist on tv the other day talking about this. Wrong signals for both little girls and men.

HERE'S A DIFFERENT KIND OF REALITY IN THE U.S.A. THAT PEOPLE TURN A BLIND EYE TO BUT AFFECTS THEM DAILY AND WILL EVENTUALLY KILL SOCIETY AS YOU & I BOTH KNOW IT UNLESS WE STAND UP & STOP THEM!
===========================================

***PART 1

THE U.S. CITIZENS HAVE THEIR BRAINS SCRAMBLED VIA FLUORIDE IN THE WATER & ALL THE ASPERTAME THEY CONSUME IN POP DRINKS, BUT THERE IS MORE.....

You see, Bush Sr., & Jr., Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Obama, Ford...ALL these presidents are in what is dubbed a SECRET SOCIETY called The Moloch Axis Demoniacs (i coined the phrase myself...Dr. A.P. and i don't use my full name because WHO knows WHAT sinister crap they'd do to me IF they found out?) or M.A.D. for short.

These people, and there’s obviously more of them (Cheney, Rumsfeld etc.) than the ones mentioned, control KEY positions not just in government, business, finance, society etc. They not only perpetuate what will keep them in power today, but take steps to GRADUALLY erode MORAL, SOCIAL and FAMILY VALUES in society. This degradation is so gradual that it's like hair loss! You see it ever so slowly and you have to be a keen eye to boot!

For example, women in the workforce...they go to work so WHO takes care of the kids? Some goofs getting minimum wage who could care less about those kids. Family split apart because NOW both parents work and the cost of life itself purposely increased to perpetuate this separation. Kids grow up with NO moral/social/family values. Repeat this a few generations and before you know it, you have mindless zombies that don't know RIGHT from WRONG! The masses will be easily programmable to get in debt, and be anti-Christ-like etc. Add ASPERTAME, Fluoride in tap water, MSG and genetically modified foodstuffs to the mix and the process expands both rapidly & exponentially.

Also, the coming mark of the beast 666. Remember HOW it all used to be ca$h only? Then they introduced checks, then credit cards to get yourself in serious financial troubles, then ATM cards, and now that STUPID SWIPE-PASS card. What is the purpose of all this? To get people broken down enough and stupid enough through putting FLUORIDE in the drinking water and ASPERTAME in soda drinks/pop cans so we ALL can accept the 666 chip. So NOBODY can buy or sell or own ANYTHING lest he has the mark of the beast (anti-Christ) which is 666.

I can go on for days & days as to the subtleties and more examples but i think you all SEE the points i make here. It's all SUBTLE and GRADUAL negative changes day in & day out that these M.A.D. demons (because they are demonic and have placed their trust in demons in exchange for their souls and material possessions here on earth) are passing into laws in Canada, USA, UK, SPAIN, FRANCE etc.

Pedro Garcia Millan said...

PART 2
They are genetically modifying the food so that the REAL NORMAL SEEDS will eventually be extinct and the modified canola, corn, soy and cotton seeds will be the ONLY ones left. Genetically modified means that these NEW seeds that are in almost ALL USA store bought products have the herbicide, fungicide, pesticide and who knows what other toxins already in the seed. THEREFORE, when you eat that mishmash, WHO THE HELL KNOWS WHAT IT WILL DO TO YOUR INTESTINES OR HEALTH OVER TIME! And of course, the industry (i.e. Monsanto just to mention one) TELLS US.."Ohhh..it's ALL safe to eat jajajaja". SAFE TO EAT? Just look at the bees landing on these genetically modified crops and their stomachs are being ripped apart & THEY DIE! Yet you SEE HOW funny it is on TV/MEDIA that NOBODY, including the M.A.D. payed-off demonic scientists don't even whisper/mention the OBVIOUS that i just stated here?

Like i said, i can go on and on for days giving you more & more & more examples of the gradual demonic END GAME these M.A.D. are playing with us. But like i said, i think you all reading this get the picture. And by the way, i am a Dr. and guess what? I DO NOT WORK FOR THE M.A.D. OR HAVE SOLD MY SOUL TO A DEMON! But....i live in virtual poverty somewhere on this planet with a family to feed and barely scrape by. And IF you think that sounds bad, well, this AIN'T nothing compared to what the M.A.D. have in store for ALL of us in the aforementioned countries (and more) i listed. And again, ALL their moves are subtle and gradual like a chess game being played out with the regular folks as the pawns.

I sometimes WONDER WHY the regular folks in these countries NEVER do ANYTHING TO STOP these demonic morons? It doesn't matter IF you vote Republican or Democrat because from those 2 choices, they are BOTH a part of M.A.D. Same with Canada and their Liberal or Conservatives...same M.A.D. , and on and on and on. I sometimes wonder.....you NEVER see ANY of these M.A.D. criminals go to trial or imprisoned for fraud on the people yet IF little billy J-Walks across a busy street he gets a ticket he must pay! When will Bush Jr. & Cheney and ALL those involved in blowing up 3 buildings in Manhattan and blaming it on Arabs EVER be brought to justice? NEVER because when it FINALLY is discovered what they did, they'll be safely dead from old age and the vast majority of the people in the USA will be so brainwashed with NO moral/social/family values they will have already taken up the 666 mark and be worshipping the anti-Christ.

Pedro Garcia Millan said...

PART 3
Sometimes it makes one wonder WHY there are NO good people that will step up (with God as their guide) and put a STOP to the M.A.D.?? That is one of the BIGGEST questions i ask myself almost every day! Maybe people are SCARED? Maybe they are waiting for God to MAGICALLY do it all without realizing that God doesn't work in that manner.

I just HOPE somebody puts a STOP to M.A.D. or we are ALL going to be really in BIG trouble!

The above is a LOT to think about, believe me, i have been living it since 2005, and jobless to boot! And i am a Dr. so go figure?? But i WILL NEVER SELL MYSELF TO A DEMON OR THE M.A.D. so how about them cookies :)

Peace be unto you and please WAKE UP PEOPLE!
+Dick Cheney Loves the demon Moloch from hell and wants to destroy earth too! Just look at what his
Moloch Axis Demoniac controlled company HALLIBURTON did in the Gulf of Mexico with the offshore oil rig…need I say more? Cheney is RESPONSIBLE for the atmospheric CHEMTRAIL pollution program sprinkling toxic Aluminum & Barium Oxide to alter the weather and poison the plants, soil and people to make way for genetically modified foodstuffs to further poison us! STOP THESE DEMONS NOW!!!!!!!

This makes me sick. I have a daughter who just turned nine, and we picked her swimsuit out yesterday. This is what we both decided on: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=14127&vid=1&pid=830004. Also, if you pay attention, The Gap doesn't have anything remotely like this bikini top. There is one cut somewhat similar, but it sure as hell doesn't have freaking padding in it. I am truly appalled.

Em Cue Em said...

Also just remembered something I should probably put out there. The summer I was 11, my mom dropped me off at Value City and let me pick my own swimsuit for a friend's birthday party. I was developing pretty rapidly and could fit into an X-small women's string bikini (though not a thong bottom), so that's what I got. It was padded on top. Anyway, somehow I managed to avoid showing my mom the suit. So I went to the pool party, and then my friend's single dad came to pick us up for a slumber party. To make a long story short, he waited until the other girls were asleep that night and molested me. After he went back to bed, I ran several blocks to my grandmother's house at 2 a.m., they called the police, and the rest is history. The next morning, my mother called my friend's mother to ask why she had allowed this man, who we found out the hard way was a convicted sex offender, to host his daughter's slumber party. Her answer was that she hoped he had gotten better, but she did notice him looking at me funny in my bikini the day before and had worried about me because I looked more "womanly" than the other girls in my bikini. True story. She actually let me go with this guy, even while "worrying" that I might be too appealing an opportunity for him to say no to.

EmCueEm: I'm so sorry. You were only a child. I hope that you've found some amount of peace with the years.

This kind of marketing is just digusting. Females get sexualized so much in this society--it gets tiresome and sad and when we're talking about children, it's perverse.

I guess I'm less concerned that A&F is making this, and more concerned about the parent that actually buys it...

My 9 yo daughter started developing at 8, and she wants to be covered up, not letting everything hang out. Good for her!

Despite what reality TV keeps shoving in our faces, men want brains and substance instead of boobs and vacuousness.

I wish I could have found some padded tops when I was 11 and had a bad and embarrassing case of the puffies. *dies*

I think girls should be proud of their feminity - the problem is how we define 'feminity'. Girls shouldn't be ashamed of being girl-shaped and something tells me that they have just as much a right to look forward to be being big girls as boys have to being big boys. But how do we define that? Does having breasts (or wanting to) define you as a victim or as a nurturing miracle of nature?

Personally, I think if they let us put the casual bullet through the head of any adult that makes it impossible for girls to be proud of themselves by molesting them, we wouldn't have these problems.

Why do we keep reinforcing the body shame (resulting in neurosis, feelings of insecurity, anorexia). Because some sick perverts can't control themselves? Something tells me this is wrong.

This is an absolute disgrace. I'm boycotting Abercrombie.

I met a 7 year old a couple of months ago, who told me she was fat and needed to lose weight. She was super skinny and tiny. I was shocked and disgusted. 7 years old's now are worried about being fat. What is this world doing to our children??? I remembered when I was 7, all I could think about was what kind of barbie i was getting for x-mas. Now the market is setting up these young girls for predators. This is forcing young girls to grow up too fast. It's appalling. What's next? Are they going to stuff the crotch in little boys bathing suits to make their peens look bigger? Or are females the only target/victim.

crila16 said...

Amanda...Selenakyle...and all who agreed with you. You are completely wrong. This is NOT a bathing suit target for 10 year olds and up. It's a bathing suit that was created for CHILDREN starting at the age of 7 and 8. It is called the PUSH UP TRIANGLE Bathing suit. It's disgusting and appalling for any young child.

Bingo, crila16. Females are the only targets, but this kind of hypersexualizing hurts everyone, male and female.

Em Cue Em, I'm so sorry that happened to you. And I'm sorry that you were made to feel that your appearance had ANYTHING to do with this crime. He knew you were 11, regardless of how womanly you looked. I hope he's still in jail.

Lioness70 said...

That reminds me...

My 7 yo has a big, curvy tush. She isn't developing up top yet, but her tush has been that way since she was 5. She's also made comments about dieting that just about killed me. I don't diet and never bring the word up in my house, so some kid must have mentioned it to her at school. I told her she looked beautiful just the way she is and not to worry about dieting at such a young age.

This cultural obsession with the fountain of youth and hyper-thinness is sick. When it's gotten to the point that a FIRST GRADER is worried about her body, it's gone too far.

Carrie L. said...

I started hearing this story on TV last night and changed the channel. I felt sick. Really? It's one thing to make this stuff, but for anyone who buys it - their kids should be taken away. I'm 34 but not a parent, yet I'm sickened by these types of trends. I swear that too many people out there live in their own little worlds. "Oh, sure, let's put 6 year old Suzi in a padded bra two-piece swimsuit - how cute, she looks like a young lady! Now let me take pics & post them all over the web so I can show the world how cute she is!", completely ignoring the fact that there are sick people looking for this stuff. The sad thing is that I know some of these people - they are unfortunately family members. I know how they were raised & for the life of me I can't figure out why they think this stuff is acceptable. I'm glad to see some people out there, like those on this board, see how sick & messed up this is.

wow.

honestly, i am THRILLED at the outrage in these comments, and join my voice in unison.

it's about freakin' time, USA.

a&f has, for some time now, had questionable business practices. we all know they're the kings of the retail douchachusetts world, so sadly, this isn't surprising.

what i find to be the silver lining in all this is the outcry and outrage. we complain so much (and are complained about), as being far too puritanical a society...that we, as u.s. americans, are too hung up on this or that and are too square, blah, blah, when it comes to body/sexuality issues. but you know what...GOOD.

i travel extensively, primarily for work, and i can tell you this much...i have seen, and have had my heart broken by, little girls, primarily in latin america and western europe, and the over- & hyper-sexualizing that is done in those countries. obviously i'm generalizing. not everyone is like that. however, it is very common to see girls, ages 5+, in many of these countries, dressed up and being referred to as 'sexy'. in other words, to be defined as 'pretty', you must look 'sexy'. walk into many a random household, and see family pictures on the mantle...you will commonly find traditional family pictures where the youngest little wee ones is dressed in full makeup, tight and provocative clothing...all in the name (and interpretation) of being pretty. it's disturbing. but it happens. a lot.

so thank you, USA, for being pissed at this. it doesn't make you puritanical. it simply makes you cognizant of what is right and what is wrong. KEEP IT UP.
