Today's Blind Items - He Would Rage Against Her
Our actor today used to be an A lister. I suppose he still has some type of permanent close to A list status as he would never do a movie in which he was not the lead. Academy Award winner. Kids. And former woman beater who used to beat one of his old girlfriends so badly that some people are surprised she lived. The couple hated each other at the same time they loved each other. He would sleep with someone during the day and then come home to this former A list actress movie star who would smell perfume or see lipstick and they would start to fight. At the time, our actor had a rage which he had not yet learned to control and would beat her. Our actress once had to back out of a movie she was set to star in because our actor beat her so badly. The role went to another actress who won an Academy Award. That actress also had sex with our actor. Even after he would hit her, the actress would never leave. When our actor tried to leave her she would beg him to stay and he would. There was not a month that went by where he didn't beat her. There have been no other women that have ever said anything about him hurting them, but this actress brought out the best. Even though he cheated on her on a daily basis, when he found out she was maybe cheating on him, he knocked out her three front teeth. There was also a scar that you could see right above her lip where the tooth had pushed through. The relationship probably would have ended up with her dead, but our actor found another actress he wanted for his regular girlfriend and broke it off and fled the country with his new actress girlfriend. By the time he got back our beaten actress had move on and into another violent relationship. One that lasted much longer.

Winona and Gwyneth doesn't work. Winona didn't lose the role of Shakespeare in Love to Gwyneth because of that. She didn't get it because Gwyneth saw the script on her table one day and went to the audition and used her nepotism to steal the role. That's why her and Winona were no longer friends after that.

Robert Wagner wouldn't have been her long relationship after. She married Gregson in between, but that was many years after Beatty.
I don't know if Beatty and Wood were on again in the mid-late 60s, but she was originally offered the part of Bonnie in Bonnie and Clyde. Wood ostensibly refused to take it because she didn't want to be aware from her therapist.

If it's old Hollywood the most famous wife beater in the 50's and 60's was George C Scott. Ava Gardner has a chapter devoted to the beatings she endured at his hands in her autobiography. Trish Van Devere has given interviews talking about what a regular wife beater he was when they were married.

Hollywood as an industry is fucked up in the same way that all other industries and organizations that are run by fuckers obsessed with power and greed are fucked up. The only reason why Hollywood BIs that may or not be true are shocking is b/c celebrities are worshipped in a way that your regular corporate monster, religious leader, politician, etc., are not. Hollywood as a place and an industry is no better nor worse than any place else. There are good people and bad people, people who work hard and those that take the easy way out. Yes, I live here. Yes, I work here. And, yes, I'm defending it b/c what's written on a celebrity gossip site is not indicative of an entire group of people or industry. This is all entertainment and the 'Hollywood/L.A. is evil period' argument is getting old. If I'm going to have my chops busted for ocassionally mentioning that 'for the love of god please proofread before posting' then I'm going to bust balls for everytime the 'Hollywood is evil' argument comes up.

I just looked at some pics of Sondra Locke, and it doesn't look like she has an irregularities at/above her top lip. But maybe when he said there WAS a scar, it was cleaned up through plastic surgery.

Raging actor: George C. Scott (starred in Rage, 1972)
Scarred actress: Ava Gardner (she dated Scott around 1965-67, they had a violent alcohol-fueled relationship and it was known he beat her)
Role that went to another actress: Mrs. Robinson in the Graduate, 1967 (Anne Bancroft was nominated for an Oscar, although she didn't win)

It just makes everyone sound like asses when in fact if it really were that bad, people would not be flocking there. My faith in the human race tells me that there are not that many jerks women beaters, drug abusers and power hungry assholes located in such a small area. We just revel in the bad stuff because we never (or almost) hear the good stuff. I think everyone really likes the blinds where someone has commited a selfless act and given of themselves.

I thought Sean Connery too, this sounds like Old Hollywood and makes me think of an old blind where Sean Connery was the answer. I can't think of too many actors I could picture maintaining that level of violent anger. A couple, but the rest doesn't fit.

IIRC, the next person Anjelica was involved with was her now-husband, and I've never heard anything about him allegedly being abusive.
Also, Eddie Murphy has never won an Oscar--he was nominated for Dreamgirls, but lost. IIRC, the feeling was that the movie he had out during Oscar season, Norbert, was sufficiently both bad and mean-spirited that it turned off a lot of voters.
Robin - Anjelica was widowed in 2008. I vaguely remember hearing something years ago about him/them. I don't want to besmirch the dead, and I could be wrong, but I think they had some problems. Whether it was an anger issue, I'm not sure.

I think this is about Sean Connery and Diane Cilento, she wrote an autobiography a few years back that said he mentally and physically abused her. He has lived in Spain for a long time as I recall with his current wife.
