Not A Chance In Hell

Watch the video. Would you do this? Next time you are in Las Vegas you can do it. Even if they could find something that could support my weight, there is just no way.

way back when , i did the free-fall coaster that they had on the top....i had a serious freak, but did it (loved it too!).
i am afraid of heights and it has been growing for years and just watching this made me cringe!
if anyone goes on it, let me know what its like!

No Way in Hell would I do this even for a million dollars.

Would I do it? Hell, no! I can't even watch that video. My stomach is in a knot just looking at the still shot from way up high.

Absolutely NO WAY IN HELL...

I got all nervous just watching it...I am deathly afraid of heights.

I'm with delilah - I never used to be afraid of heights, but it started about 10 years ago and has been growing steadily. This doesn't actually looks so bad - looks more controlled than bunjee jumping, which you couldn't pay me to do.

For anyone who hasn't watched the vid yet, skip ahead to at least the 2 min mark. It's just waiting until then.

I'd totally do it. I've been sky-diving from a mile up, so this is a no brainer.

I wouldn't be willing to die that way, so no.

Lame. It looked like it travelled at about the same rate as an elevator. After you step off the ledge, I don't see any thrill in it. And it probably only costs $150 (for an extra $50 they throw in the video).

what's up with that? i started getting weird with heights about 15 years ago when i was at the Luxor (the balcony looking to the lobby/floor is weird) and that is when i first remember feeling scared.
now, dont you even stand close to me if it is more than 3 stories!

Lol, I've done it...In an amusement park in my city there's a high tower in the middle of the park specially built for this. You pay per jump and it has all of the regulations for it, you can even jump with a friend. It was fun!

I'm with Mr. Pink, it looks too slow.

No. Fucking. Way. Not even drunk.

That video *should* have been about 20 seconds long.

it looks pretty controlled and not a crazy free fall like a bungee jump, that being said....hell to the no.

It looks boring. I've been skydiving several times from 15,000 feet (to cure a morbid fear of heights...didnt' work). This ride ain't no thang.

I wouldn't do it, but not because it looks scary....it looks kind of lame to me. Like an elevator. After jumping out of a plane from 14K feet, this looks like child's play.

Lila said...

I'm with everyone that says its kinda lame. I was expecting a much faster and longer fall. I wouldn't necessarily pay to do it...but if I get some decent K's for it...I can be all about it!

@delilah - I know, it's frustrating! I get this sick feeling in my stomach that if I get too close to the edge, that I might actually jump or fall - it's beyond ridiculous.

Ice Angel said...

No offense, but can I please have my 3 minutes and 10 seconds back???

delilah said...

love Ice Angel's comment!
@ RQ-yes and the jump or fall!

It looks less scary than bungee jumping, but it's standing on the ledge at the top that I'm not sure I could do.

Oh my gosh, you guys. You made my day. I started developing a fear of heights in my late 20's early 30's and it has just grown, as well. I used to do all the roller coasters and LOVED it, but now I have massive nightmares about stuff like that. I always thought I was strange cause it developed later in life for no apparent reason. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone with it, though. You rock my stripey socks!

I have been developing a serious fear of heights as I get older, too. I used to love roller coasters, heights never bothered me, blah blah. Then one day a few years ago I rode the Funicular in Barcelona and almost lost it.

Anyway, at the beginning of the video and through the 2:30 mark, my palms were sweating and I was terrified. Then when he went it looked incredibly tame and not at all thrilling.

So, if I could get past the platform, I think I could do it.

Welcome to our sad little club, Ellapetal!
It started in University for me (early 20s) and I'm now 34 and there's no way in HELL I'd consider skydiving. NO. WAY.

Someone once told me that it's not uncommon to develop a fear of heights as you age - it's related to our fear of mortality generally as we age.

Count me in on the "not a chance in Hell" train.
I love roller coasters, but I've always drawn the line at things like bungee jumping, sky-diving, that ridiculous "flying" contraption they have at the amusement park (you're drawn up from the ground on a winch and let go) - this is just one more to add to that list.
Coasters? Oh hell yeah.
This? No way.

i love heights...the higher the floor i'm on, the happier i am...that said, i love the stratosphere, i would sooooo totally do this!

I have always been deathly scared of heights. I don't even like looking over balconies at hotels or even the 2nd level of a mall :)

So no way in hell. It def. didn't go as fast as I thought it would but I wouldn't do it off a 1 story building, let alone that.

MnGddess said...

I'm 50/50 on this. Part of me is like those of you who have developed a fear of heights (actually, certain heights), but part of me thinks this is sooo cool.

I've jumped out of airplanes in the army - I'm with Mr. Pink... this is dumb.

mooshki said...

I did the one where you spin out over the edge, and that was good enough for me, thanks. It's a hell of a lot higher than it looks in this video.

HannahPalindrome said...

I'm terrified of heights, but I went skydiving (tandem) a few years ago from 14,000 feet.
I screamed the whole way down...
I.Will.Never.Do.That.Again.

I would NEVER bungee jump.
