Michelle Duggar Would Love Another Baby
Michelle Duggar was on The Today Show this morning. I was thinking that with all the difficulties there were surrounding the birth of their 19th child, Josie that she would probably be finished having children. I was wrong. "We would do it again in the fact that here we have this precious gift." She went on to say the couple would welcome another baby and that having a baby is a miracle and it also makes me think she might already be pregnant or that they are trying to have another baby.
In the episode tonight Josie goes home with her parents and I would not be surprised if there is some kind of announcement at some point that she is pregnant with her 20th child. I mean why call a show 19 Kids And Counting when 20 Kids And Counting sounds so much more impressive. Of course they could call the show, I Have 19 Kids And I Can't Count Any Higher So No More. Now that is a title. What do you think? More kids or should she stop?

She's not going to stop trying. She's not going to START trying, either. They have always said that they leave it up to God, and that's never going to change.
I honestly don't know why this discussion pops up on every blog every few months. This is such a big part of their religious beliefs that they're not going to stop.
At one time it may have been about one or both of their religious belief but now I think it is about money(even if they don't need it) and or attention.

They can support those children, they love their children and devote their lives to them ... who cares if they keep going? She had a medical issue totally unrelated to her pregnancy and had to have an emergency c-section days later. It's not like that would definitely happen again if she was to get pregnant for the 20th time. (20th time ... acck ... I cannot even imagine it. God bless her for it ... definitely not the life for me.) :o)

Yeah, I dont think they use condoms so theoretically she could get preggers several more times since they arent THAT old and you know horny Jim Bob or Bo or whatever hick name he has isnt going to stop having sex with her so I think they should call the show 'Welcome to our Crazy Religion, taking over the world one tortured birth at a time'

C'mon...this isn't the friggin' 1800's. Religious beliefs or not, they need to stop having kids. We get it, Jim Bob Joe Jed Jack John Boy Jethro Duggar...you are fertile and strong...like the bull...and you have a mighty army to back you...and your legacy shall live for-evah...but this is starting to look like blatant attention whoring.

How do you afford 20 kids? Even with a tv show, really? Is it that kind of crazy money?
I only (only, ha!) have three kids, and I can barely give them enough attention even when the hubby is home.
Can they give their kids enough attention? I've never watched (and never will), but this is a question I have.

I'm so tired of these parents. How could they possibly provide adequate attention for each child?

Blaming things on religion always cracks my shit up. Not knocking anyone's religion here, but I just think it's funny when people do highly illogical things all in the name of the Lord or whatever.
Maybe they're going for the Guiness Book of World Records? And I'm only half joking.
The current record is 69 children and 27 pregnancies by one woman and that record was set back in the 18th century.
I'm with Sunnyside also. All these people who have six, eight or 20 children need to look beyond their motives and think about the effect they have having on the environment.
The Duggars won't ever change. Part of their religious beliefs are essentially no birth control. And her medical problems this time were not just gall bladder, but pre-eclampsia, which is very very dangerous.
I had pre-eclampsia with my 1st child, and it is dangerous. I'm unexpectedly and happily in my 2nd trimester with another child (the iPhone period tracking app wasn't so accurate :-)) but I'm nervous as hell about having pre-eclampsia again. I can't get life insurance because of it. I'm scared to death (HA!) for my little boy who is almost 4.
So I don't know, I think it's not the best idea. But now they seem even more emboldened - like we made it through this one, we can do anything!
The Duggars are not on public assistance. Each of their children is well cared-for, intelligent, and actual upstanding members of society. Who's to say when they should stop having children? And why is it our business?
I don't get the whole "big families are harming the environment" bit. They're not taking trips around the world in their private jet for chrissakes. Leave that to the super-cool environmentalists like Al Gore & Leonardo diCaprio. LMFAO. Let's compare the carbon footprints of the Gore family or the Bunchen/Brady family to the Duggar family, shall we? I think we might be surprised at what we find.
I'm not trying to start a war here, but it sounds like they didn't have to pick up the million dollar tab for their baby's hospitalization. I'm from Canada, where, thankfully, we have universal healthcare for all, but, I wouldn't want to keep financing more of Michelle's litters. Don't get me wrong, I would never wish harm to any child, but isn't Michelle asking for more preterm babies at her age? I could understand if they were trying for their first, second, or even third child, but she's already got 19. When will enough be enough for her?
with any luck, she'll just be walking along one day soon and her uterus will fall out.

OMG, i cant believe you just compared Al Gore who has done so much in just bringing awareness of global warming to so many people, nay, an entire generation, to the mutha f-ing Duggars who, while nice enough people I guess, are just another super religious family with no care for helping anyone but their own relgion by making as many new followers as possible by procriating more and more (the bases of their entire religion)

It's none of my business. At some point in the near future she will be unable to have anymore. If they are self-sufficient, I have no problem with it. There are lots of people who "shouldn't" be having children.
oh this has nothing to do with Jesus,it is more nuts than that. When they first got married she was on birth control and got pregnant and miscarried. Since then she sees as each child as gift from God...but the truth is she is seriously messed up over her guilt on the first kid that died. They were on the View a few years a go and bells were ringing at that comment. She needs fucking therapy not a new baby everytime the get busy.

Can't stand the Duggars, but at least they can actually afford to provide for and take care of their kids. (I'm looking at you, Octomom.)
And Michelle I guess never did get the message that's it's not a clown car, it's a vagina. And with all the medical issues their last baby had, I can't imagine wanting another. What if something were to go terribly wrong? What if a child dies? How is that part of "God's plan"?

To me, what's even more scary is what is Mama Duggar DOESN'T want any more children - but can't say so? Seems like she's in the type of religion and marriage where she doesn't really get an honest opinion on the matter.
I wonder if deep down she's scared to get pregnant again and jepordize her life as well as another baby's, but just can't admit it.
Am I the only one who saw them on "Say Yes to the Dress"? Jim Bob, or whatever his name is, came across as an overbearing bully, who picked her dress for their "recommitment" ceremony. Michelle really didn't have much say in the matter -- which I guess applies to the childbirthing too...
In spite of the fact that I represent everything they fear in the world, I do think they are good people and wish them the best.
That said, I really think Michelle is SEVERELY endangering her health if she has another baby. What a tragedy for her 19 current children if she were to die--and that IS a possiblity with pre-eclampsia. Which she's more likely to get if she had it once.

What I have an issue with is expecting kids to raise kids. I'm all for kids having responsibilities, but could these two babymakers raise 19 kids by themselves?

How do the Duggars support their family? From their show? If so, no wonder they just keep cranking them out. I like to consider myself pro-choice, but I think they're insane. And it can't be much fun for the older girls because I'm sure most of the burden of caring for the younger ones falls to them.
Do they know all 19 by name? My mom had trouble with just 4 of us.

If little Josie doesn't have permanent health and learning issues I will be surprised. If I was her I would be scared to death to have another child after the problems with this one. Next time they could both lose their lives. Not worth it. Be a foster parent or something.
I have two kids and they are 14 months apart. I feel guilty about my daughter's abbreviated babyhood, I can't imagine worrying about giving enough attention to umpteen kids and a baby, EVERY YEAR OF YOUR LIFE.
Seriously, how does she deal when she has a dozen kids who are crying and need Mommy? That's a terrible kid-to-lap ratio.

Ive watched the show many times. I was very surprised at how sweet the family is. They are all very soft spoken, patient hard working caring intelligent people.
The girls cook, clean and take care of the younger children. The boys from about 10 on know how to build a barn, fix a leak, change a tire or the engine on a tractor, and they do it willingly and without complaint. Thats a lot more than I can say about my kids.

i'd rather see this family pump out 50 babies than half the people i know stuck on govt assistance and having their 3rd. this is a good family who's extremely loving to alllll 19 of their kids (yes they know all their names ;)
they actually don't need any money from the show. they've been wealthy since before the show started filming- they own a bunch of commercial properties and some other businesses and have had a nice life from that. plus they buy most of their goods second hand and from discount stores, so it's not like they're running out blowing their cash on random stuff. they really take into consideration where every dollar is going.
with that- it's none of my business. it's not the life for me, but it's not my decision to make. all of their kids are smart, respectful (in this day and age!!) and well rounded. i hope little josie is ok and the family is harmless. all coming from someone who's probably their polar opposite, too.
@Ms. Leigh, since you watch the show (and I don't) do you know why they are on the show if they are self sufficient? It doesn't make sense for them to expose their personal lives to the world if they don't have to. None of this would be our business if they didn't have a reality series.
They own real estate that they earn money off of... They had that long before the reality show.

Interesting that you mention this during a post that's anti-natalist. After I first watched the movie with my husband I told him that I was going off birth control immediately. I got pregnant with my daughter within 2 weeks, and had my son a mere 14.5 months after my daughter.
The lesson from the movie for me was that us above-average-IQ-having, educated, middle-class types need to be procreating so our country doesn't devolve into an Idiocracy because only the poor and stupid have kids.
Really this is why Idiocracy was initially shelved by the studio and had a very small distribution when they finally did release it: because Mike Judge made an anti-poor-and-stupid-people movie.
