Today's Blind Items - The Academy Award Casting Couch
This actress is B list now. A very solid B list who most people know. She has always been in movies. No television. One of her biggest roles came via an audition. It was her big break. She had already met with the director and producers and now was having a one on one with her Academy Award winning co-star. He was married and had a great reputation so when he suggested they meet at his place she agreed. When she got there he turned on his smile to full wattage and was talking about his wife and made our actress a drink and they sat down and started to talk. As they began talking more he continued to refill her glass while just sipping his. She started to feel woozy. She didn't know if she was drunk or if he had slipped her something. He wouldn't do that. He is a nice guy and there is just no way. He told her there were several other women he was meeting about the movie and that because they were going to have a sex scene in the movie he needed to make sure they got along very well so there would be chemistry. He said they should kiss and see how that went. She was more woozy and the next thing you know the kiss led to groping which led to sex and she says all she really remembers about the entire sexual encounter was laying on his office couch and staring up at his Academy Award while she kept saying to herself, but he is a nice guy. She got the part, but has never spoken to the guy since the end of filming.

Tom Hanks/ Robin Wright popped right into my head. Not sure about that soap opera but it might be hard to find any actress who is well known and has never done any form of TV. Thing is, Forest Gump came out in '94 and Hanks won his 1st Oscar for '93's Philadelphia. Would there be enough time between winning the Academy Award and casting Forest Gump for this to be possible?

Wow...I can't believe everyone thinks of Tom Hanks as a "nice guy." Does everyone forget that he cheated on his first wife with his Rita Wilson??? Sure, I like the guy and think he's a terrific actor and plays "nice guy" roles and all, but why would anyone be surprised if he cheated? (Slipping a mickey is an entirely different situation though.)

The whole "nice guy" thing is so subjective.
While it's definitely possible that the scene didn't make it in the movie and while it's true that enty fudges at times, I think if we twist the blind too much to make it "fit" our guesses we are getting way off track.
I think if enty meant golden globe he would have said golden globe, not Oscar. and also would have mentioned that the scene didn't make it in the movie.

@mynerva, I wouldn't call All the Pretty Horses Penelope's big break. it didn't do well, and she didn't become known. I don't think she had to audition either. They were trying to get her into US movies for a while. She was huge in Spain and on the art house scene before we heard her in English.
I'm sticking with the Eva/Denzel guess. Just because they were in a movie together doesn't mean they had any interaction when the camera wasn't rolling or stopped talking after the second movie. Eva was still on her way up at the time, and I can't imagine her bypassing the second lead because of him.

In the 1980's and through much of the 1990's the press constantly ran the same "family man" stories about Mel Gibson, with his parcel of kids and "famblee valooos" and Kevin Costner with his longtime love/wife and their kids. This was the big press angle around both men at the time. You could also say the same was true about Harrison Ford during this same period.
Anybody else remember Mel Gibson in the movie Hamlet, with Helena Bonham Carter playing Ophelia? I think there is a rough physical scene in it but not actual sex. She was just barely known at the time for her work in the movie Lady Jane as Lady Jane Grey and Hamlet I believe was one of her first cross over/American films, also around the same time she starred in the British hit A Room with a View. Since then she has been solid B list, especially since her relationship with Tim Burton.

Denzel Washington was behind the incredibly cowardly bullshit of "This is my character, not me."
He was really abusive to me and everybody on that movie, and his official explanation was that his character didn't like me, but it was a dreadful experience.
I spent my salary on time with my shrink just for helping me get through it...
The script supervisor on that movie said it's like watching somebody kick a puppy. He was so vile.
