Random Photos Part Three

The first pap shot of Belinda Carlisle that I can recall.

Billy Joel drinking and
smoking and riding a motorcycle without a helmet. All good choices.
Britney Spears shows off her new ring. Wore a bra too. Dad must have had a talk with her.
Clea DuVall gets busy with her girlfriend at a park.
Adele makes yet another trip to Bel Bambini.
Dannielynn Birkhead went to see Annie with her dad.
David Beckham arriving to film a commercial.
Evan Rachel Wood goes for the Ed Wood/Diane Keaton look at Sundance.
She still looked way better than Shia LaBeouf.
Snow in Hollywood? When you are filming a Glee wedding it shows up.
Halle Berry and a very bored looking Nahla at Disneyland.
Jennie Garth tries to stay warm in Toronto.

Hmm, Billy Joel for the singer blind? "Bad choices"?

Clea DuVall for the outing blind yesterday. (Everyone's shocked.)

Anna Nicole's daughter is a little beauty. I hope it all turns out for her.

Wow, Shia. Red Dawn!!

How old is Nahla? She seems a bit big for a stroller.

Amber said...

Poor Nahla. I mean, it IS one photo from a series of probably dozens. Every time we see her w/her dad, though, she looks happier.

If you use Chrome, get the Paused extension. It stops all automatic flash animations until you click them.

I believe on FireFox, you can just hit the Esc key to stop animations.

If you're IE... I'm sorry.

Check out the blog "too big for stroller" it's hilarious!!! She is definitely too big - there are benches to take breaks on for a reason.

I love all the subtle blind reveals here.

David B is shooting ANOTHER commercial?? Man, that man had serious selling power huh.

Kelly said...

That's what I came on here to say.....She is way too old for a stroller!

Lioness70 said...

Why is Nahla in a stroller? She's 5, isn't she? Too old!

That's one of my pet peeves, seeing 5 and 6 yo kids in strollers in the mall.

Ps I also can't wait til nahla is bigger and decides to live with Gabriel. I can't wait to see what princess Halle does when that happens

wow I would NOT have recognized Carlisle without the caption.

Who is Jennie Garth dating now?

oooh Belinda, sorry about your face, hopefully this is just a really bad picture.

Kids at that age do get tired from the extra walking when out at a long day at an amusement park. I don't see the problem. I don't care for Halle either, but this is pretty common for days at zoos or Disneyland.

auntliddy said...

As for beckham, i miss Harper!!!!! Bring her back!!!!!

Leisa said...

yup. I put my very tall 4 year old in a stroller last time at Disney after enduring a half day of whining about too much walking. The rental stroller from the park saved the day.

Maya Sambora said...

Whats the big deal about the stroller? Disney is a major outing with a lot of walking for a 5/6 yr old. Kids get tired! A stroller makes life easier, and the whole trip more enjoyable for everyone.

Hell, I see tons of able bodied adults riding motor scooters at the grocery store. Now that is something to bitch about!

With as terrible of judgment Anna Nicole had her "Baby Daddy" could have been much worse than Larry B. Her daughter looks well cared for and loved by her Dad. It is soooo nice to see a man who wants to care for his child!

< side eye to Hale Barry >. let Nahla have her Daddy!!

If your kid gets too tired walks around an amusement park, they're too young to be enjoying themselves. At 4 or 5, they're not going to remember being there, anyway. Or at least they're going to remember having a miserable time. It's more for the parents at that point. Kids whose feet are dragging in strollers should be walking. And if that little footrest wasn't there, her feet would be dragging.

Frufra said...

So glad you two ladies, Sarah, and auntliddy, are on the stroller-lover train with me! I was hoping I wasn't the only one who'd cram a little butt in a stroller until the kid was too heavy and the wheels wouldn't turn. And both of my boys are very ambulatory now, by the way. But there's no reason to make the day miserable with a tired kid if it can be avoided!

Agent**It said...

Apparently Billy Joel would have a soft spot for you as well:)

And, upon scrolling down, I see there's a few others, too. Yay for us!

I'm okay with kids that age with strollers for places like Disney. If it was everyday then I might comment. And it seems like there are way more adults that should NOT be in those motorized vehicles than kids who shouldn't be in strollers. Man we couldn't get away from those things at Disney. We saw a family share one, so each time one of them wanted to ride something they would "tag out."

Staple611 said...

Man, I don't think I have watched Glee in like two years and that counselor lady isn't married to Matthew Morrison YET? What have they been doing on that show?

Speaking of "coddling" kids, anyone read the story about the grandpa who's being harassed because he helped a bunch of little kids after Sandy Hook? Apparently, the media, Jews & the government are responsible for the Sandy Hook massacre, & grandpa is a hoaxer for hire.

Un-freaking-believable.

I took my kid to Disney when he was 5. He remembers it. He had a great time. In fact he's 13 now and can't wait to go back next year when his little brother turns five. And he rode in a stroller the whole time.

Ewww. Shia LeBarf.

Belinda Carlisle looks so, um, different. I hate when I see people around my age and think, "Wow, he/she hasn't aged well..."

Rosemary Young said...

I'm on the anti-stroller bandwagon. If your child is too tired to walk, it's time to leave. Also, kids need to learn to follow instructions ("Hold my hand") and for that to happen, there has to be a risk they *won't* listen. If that doesn't work, there's a thing called a toddler harness. It may be easier for the moment to ferry them around like little pashas, but there's a price to that. And we wonder why so many kids today are too fat? End of sermon!
Sincerely, Rosemary (mother of 2 little 'uns)

Cassiopeia said...

We let silly little things bother us way too much. My son was fine walking when we went to Disneyworld (he was five, but I wouldn't be all high and mighty and angry if I saw another 5 year old in a stroller. I'm just glad when children are happy and having a good time and that the parents aren't abusing them. With so many bad things that happen to kids, stroller riding at 5 or 6 should be the least of our concerns.

Staple611 - Would you be in such a rush to marry Will on Glee?

Off-topic, Shakira just posted to Facebook that she had her baby today!

"We are happy to announce the birth of Milan Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born January 22nd at 9:36pm, in Barcelona, Spain.

The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.

Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.

The hospital confirmed that the couple’s first child weighed approximately 6lbs. 6 ounces, and that both mother and child are in excellent health."

Sherry said...

I'm on board with the strollers too. For the adults! LOL. No seriously they aren't a bad idea with kids. You can at least cram the stuff you buy in them but when kids get tired and cranky you sure as hell don't want to carry them.

Eeekalicious said...

Kids love to walk! The reason you sometimes see an older kid in a stroller is for security in a crowd, if the child/ren aren't feeling well, but mostly for when they inevitably wind down. Kids are heavy, especially when the car is at the other end of the mall!

Sherry said...

"Yes, let's not argue over oo killed ooo but think of me as her father in a very real and legally binding sense of the word."

In the grand scheme of things it's purely a personal preference depending upon parent and child. And venue especially.

argmoon said...

We went to Disney World when our kids were almost 3 (twins) & almost 7. They still talk about certain things from the trip. we also had umbrella strollers for all 3 kids. The older one used hers only when she was tired (more towards the end of the day). If we went now,, they would all walk (now 8 & 12)

@Mango

That is so true! There are all sorts of invisible disabilities. Some people have heart problems, may have just had surgery or chemotherapy.

OneGirlRevolution said...

I used a rented stroller in the evenings at Disney when my daughter was 8. It is ridiculous to say that because their legs get tired (Disney World is HUGE) that they are otherwise incapable of enjoying the park. My daughter has been to Disney World and Disneyland dozens of times in her life and she easily remembers back to when she was 4 and went for her birthday...and just because she doesn't remember the trips before that doesn't mean she didn't enjoy them greatly at the time.

And that footrest is there for a reason...so that feet don't drag the ground.

And yeah...imo, parents need to do what they need to do but really...leashes are better than strollers? Why don't you quiz the next 10 people you randomly run into? I think you'll find the near virtual condemnation for "leashes" over strollers.

(I'm also curious to know the relation between strollers and children's inability to learn to follow instructions...especially how to hold hands in a crowd.)

Maya Sambora said...

Let me take a moment to say... To all of you who dislike children so much that the sight of them angers you....

PLEASE , don't ever have children of your own.

Im sick of seeing so many selfish and un-loving adults mis-treating their own adorable children.

Pip said...

I'm in my twenties and would get exhausted after roaming around an amusement park all day. I'd rather see a five year old in a stroller, than one throwing a tantrum from being over tired after all that walking.

Pip said...

Blah, I just wrote a long, thought out comment about child leashes, and then accidentally hit the home page. In Vegas, we saw a few kids on leashes. I was already shocked at how many people brought their kids. I was absolutely appalled at the number of them bumping into us, out of their parents sight. It's a potential disaster if you turn around, and they come across the wrong person. At least with a leash, you can see, as well as feel, that they are right there. There's less potential of them squirming away, like they can with just holding hands.

@prolixe that was my immediate thought. she looks way too big to be in a stroller

Anonymous said...

@brooke sorry everyone but i totally agree. if your kid is tired of walking, they are not enjoying themselves and that's exactly what you're doing at that point. dragging them along. whenever my niece gets tired, we leave whatever event we're at. there's no reason to push her along like a baby for something she'll eventually fall asleep on. halle can afford to go to disney again, mickey mouse isn't going anywhere

Anonymous said...

sorry for the angry posts guys, i just hate when adults drag kids along. of course there are times when you need a stroller. hopefully those times are the walk to the car/public transportation to get the kid some rest. not "mommy wants to ride a couple more rollercoasters, pass out in the stroller and get sunburn"

Count Jerkula said...

It looks to me like Billy is pushing that bike, not riding it. In any event, drinking and riding is just like drinking and driving: it is all about tolerance, easing into it, and knowing your limits. Meth helps too.

Most motorcycle deaths seem to happen the first couple warm weekends of the year. You get the guys who aren't all that experienced hopping back on their bikes after months of not riding, and they fuck up (usually taking a turn too fast). There is a reason for spring training baseball and pre season football, You gotta get your skills back up to snuff before you get in a meaningful game. Everytime you get on a motorcycle it is meaningful, so you gotta take it easy to knock 5 months worth of rust off your skills.

Maybe because that grandpa told two totally different stories to reporters about what happened. I can't say that I believe him either.

Sometimes when I read the comments and some people make attacks against other comments, no matter how hard I try and how hard I look, I can never find the comment they are referring to. It's like they invented a comment in their mind and are attacking their subconscious, "how dare I think such things!"

As for the great stroller debate, I think it honestly depends on the kid. Some 4 year olds can wander for hours, some 8 year olds can only walk about for a couple of hours. Everyone is different, life is a rainbow!

JSierra said...

And in all honesty, lets not pretend like none of us didn't dream of being pushed around in a stroller after a long day of walking around an amusement park. You know what I am talking about, a nice cushy stroller with an umbrella and a drink holder and a fancy foot rest. Uh huh.

Eeekalicious said...

Holy Cow! Taking a fold-up stroller to a theme park is just being smart. It's also a good way to keep track of the child while you are paying to get in, etc. Anyone who is taking a child to a big event without a stroller is a fool, in my opinion, and isn't being realistic about the ability of the child to walk long distances. Kids of Nahla's age are a bit like dogs on a walk - they want to stop and look at everything - bugs, stumps, grass, anything, and examine it in minute detail. You can do that at any park. At Disneyland you're there to look at exhibits, you are not paying 80 dollars or whatever to look at the grass. If you let a child this age take YOU for a walk, you wouldn't even get to the gate to Disneyland in 2 hours.

It's only fair to the child, and to your patience and your back. I just don't think it's reasonable to expect a little child that age to walk around Disneyland. They walk a bit, and when they get tired, they hop back in. They can even have a nap in one bc most kids that age still need a nap in order not to get the grumplies. I really don't think a child is going to look back at stroller rides in Disneyland as having been abusive behaviour.

OneGirlRevolution said...

People who don't have kids and are all kids need this, my kids will never...it's kind of like the new parents who insist THIER kids will never watch tv...never say never until you are sick in bed with a 103* fever and your 2 year old is making you crazy because they are have exhausted their ability to amuse themselves. Then the tv becomes a magical box of relief and Big Bird is your best friend. And don't fool yourself and think
that because you've dealt with someone else's kid for one (even a couple) of days that you have any clue what kids need, or what is smart/savvy parenting, on a day to day basis.

As to strollers...kids legs and feet poop out way before they do. A stroller is an easy way to allow them to enjoy themselves for a longer period of time without suffering (for both the kid and mom or dad). And you know, kids of a certain age want an hour nap here and there. Further, little kids are PERFECTLY content to nap anywhere...stroller, car, bed (and most strollers lay flat like a lounge chair) it doesn't mean they are done for the day and it doesn't mean parents are torturing them by putting them in strollers instead of taking them home. It means that parents are smart enough to figure out that little kids need a little battery recharge here and there (it's the reason preschoolers get rest/nap time).

OneGirlRevolution said...

*Having reread my comment, I'd like to state for the record that, like leashes, I'm cool if you don't let your kid watch tv...it's like I said, parents need to do what they need to do (obvs within parameters). But people who don't have kids...again, never say never because you really don't have any idea how flexible you are capable of being when you become a parent and how those "nevers" become "just this once" and then become routine.

OneGirlRevolution said...

And JSierra, I totally want to be pushed/carried around like a pasha...and not just at Disney World.

mistang said...

@Mango - You're right. I cannot see why a person would need a motorized vehicle to help with getting from ride to ride. But, when I see a group of people taking turns using it, it just creates that level of doubt. I really don't think they all have a medical condition. It's just my opinion, though.

And as far as heart problems or recent surgery, I really don't think I would wanna spend my day at an amusement park.

Jesus, everybody relax about strollers!! How on earth does it impact your life if a kid gets tired and goes in the stroller??!! Who cares? It isnt like you put them in a stroller to go from here to corner! I get tired at disneyworld; should i not go? Getting tired on a 3 mile trek around disney world and getting into a stroller is not a federal offense!!!!

auntliddy said...

Exactly!! I use one because of arthritis. I may look fine, but if i walk too much, ill be done for the day, and hv to spend coupla days in bed recuperating. So the cart is a lifesaver for me. And my husband and i take turns because we bioth need one but too expensive to rent two! And even if the rent it to take turns when someone gets tired, so shat? Who are they hurting? Ill tell you one thing, no body moves fir you when u in that cart!!! Very rude. I am not hugely debililated, but some people are and shld be given some courtesy. And disney bends over backwards to accomadate you when u in that chair; i make certain i dont take advantage of that.

Lioness70 said...

OK, after going back and reading, I changed my mind about strollers...but just for big parks.

My son tried to walk around Williamsburg, but he wore himself out, poor guy. He was 4. So we went out and bought strollers for the kids - 4, 2, and 6 months at the time.

They weren't a waste of money, because I used the strollers for the little one for a couple of years.

I was talking about a regular outing to a grocery store or mall. That's nowhere near the amount of walking one does at Disney or Williamsburg. Get the school-age kiddos out of the strollers.

Leashes? Kids aren't dogs. If you need that much control over your kid, do yourself a favor and don't reproduce. (Don't get a dog, either.)
