Pope Francis Is Time Magazine's Person Of The Year

Apparently the voting was very tight but in the end, Time Magazine just couldn't let Miley Cyrus beat out Pope Francis for their Person Of The Year. Can you imagine if the guy who goes out and feeds the poor every night after work and sleeps in a tiny apartment when he could be sleeping in the Vatican lost out to someone because she twerked Beetlejuice and gropes little people while admitting she stays wasted almost 24/7 and wants a Chanel tattoo?

Yeah, I think that would have looked pretty horrible too. To show there are no hard feelings, Pope Francis says on his walk to work he will twerk with everyone he sees which should be a fun way to spend the morning. Miley did win the vote of the people which is a sad reflection on the people voting but at least they didn't vote for anyone named Kardashian or West. Kanye is probably planning a rant against Time because he feels he should win the award. He is already trying to figure out a way he can crash the Vatican and steal it from the Pope.

"Imma let you finish that sermon, but first I want that award. You got a cross I can hang out on for awhile too?"

Okay the Kanye part was funny. Thank goodness Time showed a little integrity.

If they did not give it in memoriam to Mandela than I am fine with this new liberal Pope getting it.

I am a seriously lapsed Catholic but I gotta say the new guy gives me hope that maybe there is a place for the church after all.

Yet Barbawa Wawa couldn't make him the most interesting person.

Henriette, i believe the whole tenat of christianity is to do good works quietly. That is what he is doing. So that may not look very interesting, its not meant to. This pope doesnt seem to want to be a world player, he is interested in his flock. As he shld be.

LOL @ the Kanye snark! He so would! "I am genius! I am God!"

I like this Pope Francis. I read an article about him the other day and how he doesn't have a household staff, lives in a small studio apartment on the Vatican grounds, refused the glass-enclosed pope-mobile so he could actually get out and talk to people, and how he sneaks out at night dressed as regular priest so he can serve citizens without fanfare. That's good people.

I just love this guy. He makes me happy every time I see his face, and keeps outdoing himself. In that way, he does remind me of Mandela.

Catholics who are opposed to him are nuts--he is the one thing that can possibly save the Catholic Church going forward.

I'm stunned that Time readers voted Miley Cyrus as their pick for Person Of The Year. I can't help but think it was due to some kind of organized fan write-in campaign.

Glad Time chose Pope Francis though. Pope John Paul II was a beautiful soul and walking saint, which made Pope Benedict's scholarly and academic personality seem like the spark of spiritual vitality was missing. Viva Papa Francis!

Good choice for Time. Seems this Pope is doing good things with love in his heart for all people. That is rare in people with power these days. I hope he has a long life. Good laugh too Enty! Also hope this post has more comments at the end of today than the KTrash post.

Excellent decision by Time. I was giddy this morning when I first found out they chose Pope Francis as Person of the Year. He deserves it. Thank you Time for making the right decision and thank you Enty for posting this awesome news today!

Great choice.

I love Pope Francis, and I'm not even Catholic. He's the rare example of a religious leader who walks the walk and talks the talk. He is inspiring, and through his good example is leading Catholicism into the modern era.

Anyone find it weird that even the Catholic church is moving into the future and Islam is still as dated and intolerant as ever?

People serious don't understand what the POY is all about. Its not supposed to be about a popularity contest, a la high school, it's about a person that changed how we look at the world, impacted it somehow, moved the zeitgeist, and inspired lots of debate, pro and con. She should have won. Also, Time shouldn't have online polls if they aren't going to use them except for "fun" and are always going to pick who they want on the cover. All that said, who really GAF about Time mag, in 2013? Who actually buys it, gives them heavy traffic, links their articles? It's as outmoded as MTV is, as a music channel.

Very late to this discussion, but I have to say - I am a lapsed Catholic and an atheist. I think the Catholic church is deeply flawed. I didn't like Pope John Paul II, and I REALLY didn't like Pope Benedict.

And I love, love, love this man. He is the best thing that has happened to the Catholic church in a very, very long time. He makes me want to be a better person, he inspires me, and he embodies what I think religion should aspire to.

Agree di butler. Who really gives a rats ass awhat or who Time thinks is person of year? I still dont think anyone above age 25 is discussing her.
