Original Bryan Singer Accuser Contradicts Himself

Back in 2003, Michael Egan sued some friends of Bryan Singer and accused them of sexually assaulting him as a teen. He was awarded a significant amount of money but has been unable to collect because the defendants fled the country and no one is exactly sure where they are and none of their money has been found either. In that process leading up to trial, Egan gave a deposition under oath. According to Buzzfeed, Egan was asked if he had ever left the continental United States. He said that he had not. He also specifically stated he had never been to Hawaii although his mother says that her son has been to Hawaii. A primary allegation in Egan's lawsuit is that Singer flew him to Hawaii and assaulted him there after plying him with drugs. Singer's attorney had previously stated that Singer was not even in Hawaii on the dates identified in the lawsuit. Egan's attorney said his client probably misunderstood the term continental United States. Maybe. But asking whether you have been to Hawaii seems like a pretty easy one to answer.

Whatever. But Singer's clearly dodgy as hell and I'll bet him and all his cronies are still shaking in their boots.

Wonder what the other victims who have come forward were lying about.

yes he misunderstood or didnt hear. he FILED in hawaii, right? so of course he has been. his lawyer should have explained that.

i wonder how this trial will change hollywood....

He filed in Hawaii in this most recent suit. In 2003, he said he had never been to Hawaii. The crime was allegedly committed in Hawaii in the late 1990s.

It would be a stupid thing to lie about. I guess it's possible that Egan was so young whenever the original visit to Hawaii happened that he simply didn't remember? And the continental U.S. thing sounds like a misunderstanding.

I don't know that he actively tried to lie about it in the 2003 deposition. The thing is, the current case hangs on whether Egan was assaulted in Hawaii, since the California statute of limitations has expired, but the Hawaii one has not. No trip to Hawaii, no case. It's why Singer's attorney is so busy arguing that his client was never in Hawaii.

Sorry, my last line is incorrect. Singer's attorney is arguing that he was not in Hawaii at the time of the alleged assault, not that Singer was never in Hawaii. Apologies.

I'm sorry this may not be a popular take but I still think this is a shakedown of some sort. But then a good lawyer would release a story like this to discredited wouldn't they? Still. Something isn't right here?

Why did the defendants flee? Are they still missing? How is it known they are elsewhere and not dead? Gay Mafia is not to be taken lightly.

It will all fall apart…

@Sherry and @MISCH, I think you're right, and that there is a strong likelihood that this case will fall apart. It doesn't mean Singer isn't a sleaze, however. But it's possible that he's a sleaze and not a rapist.

BTW, in an interview conducted before the suit was filed and published in 'OUT' magazine today, Singer has officially come out as bisexual. So we still have a chance at this hot hunk of man, ladies! Ugh. What a petri dish he must be.

The gay illuminati is now manipulating evidence???

Young people frequently have sex with powerful older people who can do something for them. It's the way of the world and the world was like this long before Hollywood existed.

I hope Egan and his hack lawyer don't get rewarded for trying to capitalize on semi-hysterical homophobia and the witch hunt that came with it.

Agreed! From what I've read on this whole thing, he went out of his way to always make sure his partners were at least over 18. I can't wait for this to keep playing out

Singer may like em young looking, but he seems to have been careful about their ages. As for raping a man who is hanging out at pool parties and going on private jet flights to exotic locations, and probably hoping for a part in his next movie, I seriously doubt any coercion would be involved. I'm with Sherry, this is a shakedown for money and they are counting on the public's homophobia to get that check!

Haha. Yep, one of the first things you learn as a practicing attorney is your clients always lie to you. Whether it is outright lying to hide something from you, or just failing to mention something because they don't think it's important, they always lie. I've heard that from a number of practicing attorneys and experienced it firsthand myself.

Lawyers find out the darndest things don't they?

Malibu- I don't think this has a thing to do with anti-gay hysteria. More to do with anti-pedophile and assault disgust/
