Whenever I talk to someone in the office about Jessica Alba and The Honest Company, the first thing I usually hear is that if you ever give the company your e-mail address then you are going to hear from the company all the time trying to get you to buy their products. All the time. They are also one of those companies that get your credit card number and want to send you stuff every month and that it is almost impossible to get the payments stopped. The only way to get the payments stopped is to cancel your credit card or wait until the old one expires. Hopefully you didn't owe them any money before that card expired because then you get calls from them all the time demanding their money.
All of those complaints have led The Honest Company down a slippery slope and they now have a very low rating from the BBB and have had their accreditation revoked. Combine that with her doing business with companies that have been banned from doing business in the US because of dangerous products and you would think it would be on its last legs. Nope. That Target deal they have about to start will make her a ton of money and ensure lots of other people will be complaining about her and her company for a long time.

I am absolutely the only person I know who still uses the BBB. Also, I've been told by contractors that they have been pressured by the BBB so am leery of even that

Unscrupulous partners, try proving she is the one doing all that. Maybe she is involved when the BOD meets, daily decsion-making and product acquisition probably not. I bet she had no clue this was going on.
Gotta hate a company that keeps sending you shit that you no longer want while charging your credit card. Went through this very thing with Proactiv; their products are awesome - cleared my son's face up in a flash. However, you practically need a decoder ring to figure out how to stop the shipments. I got lucky - they discontinued a shampoo that we had selected as one of our monthly items, and I ignored their pleas to pick an alternate, so they cancelled our subscription.
Sandy, you know I love ya, but I must respectfully disagree: if she didn't know this was going on, that's her problem. She's the founder and face of the company; she should be aware of their business practices!

The BBB is truly worthless. You just pay your membership fee and if someone complains say why they are wrong and they let it slide. They make their money on the business paying to be a member NOT people who use them. What's wrong with this model?

Her products and selling mode may be shitty, but the BBB is as useless as tits on a bull.
That's what fraudster companies do, make you sign you up for a monthly shipment/payment on your cc, and then make it nearly impossible to cancel. That happened to me with another company, ended up canceling my cc and disputing charges with my cc company. It turned out that they were dealing with hundreds of disputes about this same company.
If that's what Jessica Alba's company is doing, they deserve to go out of business. And I agree, there is no way she was unaware of their billing practices, and if she says she was unaware, ignorance is not a defense when you are ultimately responsible.
@TTM, a friend of mine owns a plumbing company and they got a complaint. The BBB rep called my friend and said that "so and so" (another plumbing company nearby) also got a bad review, but if my friend signed up for a premium style package, his review wouldn't show up because he'd be BBB approved.
By paying, of course.

*her stuff is also available in stores. I don't use the body or cleaning products, but as the mother of a 4 month old who loves nothing more than to poop and pee, I like that the diapers are cute, reasonably priced, and chemical-free. Unfortunately my husband does not like them because they don't have the color-changing pee stripe like pampers.
I can't believe I'm defending Jessica Alba, but consumers are occasionally idiots who are trying to take the cheap and easy way out.
I never understood what the draw to her was at one time. All the guys used to go crazy over her. I don't get it.

JD Power and Assoc? Companies also pay for that. I went for a job interview there and it entailed getting people to sign up. There was no "judging" just companies paying a lot of money to get the rating.
The products actually look good. I would buy them, but not with that silly "autoship/autobill" program.

Keep in mind that her products are now a threat to other "natural" product companies out there, like Method and Common Good. Don't put it past them to be engaging in a smear campaign against her company now, when she is about to get a sweet deal with Target.

Don't think Yelp is any better, either--there was a kerfluffle in my area a couple of years ago when a local takeout place got a call from someone at Yelp "suggesting" that they pay a certain amount; owner told them to shove it, and what do you know? Suddenly all the good reviews this place had disappeared and were replaced by terrible ones. The owner, not being stupid, made sure to hit all the local media outlets to tell his story, and come to find out that Yelp had been shaking down a LOT of Boston-area businesses, especially restaurants, that way. IIRC, the whole mess was bad enough PR for Yelp that they backed off and restored all the good reviews, but I've been rather suspicious of them ever since.
Oh, and Jessica, et al. are bullies for going after Honest Toddler, who was around for a hell of a lot longer than they've been...
@Aeol. I loved that color changing pee stripe. Did really matter if the diapers had it or not, because Grace was always wet anyway. But the stripe is still cool.

With the BBB removing their accreditation, this says something. She's as savvy a business woman as she is a *cough* legitimate actor.
I used the home delivery and had none of these problems. Customer service was unpolished, but nothing like what's been described. Many friends of mine also love the products and have had no issues. Just saying.
I seem to recall hearing the BBB was going through a government investigation or something over corruption and fraud. (My brain is still screwy today so I may be wrong)

Not for nothing but I got two sample packs of their cleaning stuff and wasn't charged a dime. I did have to call to cancel the auto charge but it was fairly painless.

Honor is just not a cute kid. She really stands out in that ad because most children in ads are really cute. Also, how come the father/husband isn't in the ad if Jessica is trying to promote a family image?

That's simply not true. We used Honest diapers for the first 3 months of my daughter's life, before she fit into her one-size cloth. All I had to do was call them and cancel our bundle subscription. It took less than 5 minutes.
Krissie, I agree. Very unfortunate looking child. Maybe she will develop into an attractive adult though, a lot of ugly children do. I really dislike Alba though, she is so bland and meh, and yet people fawned all over her like she was something! I felt like I was being handed a turd on a plate and told it was filet mignon. Just who are you trying to fool, Hollywood? Not me, dammit! So basically, this isn't surprising. This bitch has been misrepresenting or misrepresented from the get go.
