Ahhhhhh, man! Too young
ReplyDeleteSo, so sad. RIP, Tommy.
ReplyDeleteRIP All these guys were gone way too soon. Very sad. Love their energy and simplicity. He and all the Ramones made many very happy!
ReplyDeleteRIP. I was so bummed when I read this first thing this morning. God, they all died way too young. :(
ReplyDeleteI love the Ramones. Saw them in concert twice (sans Tommy). I'll listen to them in honor and remembrance
ReplyDeleteSad. Punk doesn't even seem like it was that long ago.
ReplyDeleteOh this makes me very sad. Really loved the Ramones.
ReplyDeletethe original 4 are gone now, shocking that Tommy was the only one that died due to drug overdose. The rest cancer got.
ReplyDeletePunk is gone, now replaced by corporate music packaged for the masses.
@timebob, everything I've read has said he died from cancer. Where are you getting the OD from? Link?
DeleteRIP.
ReplyDeleteDee Dee Ramone died of a heroin overdose. Tommy had cancer.
ReplyDeleteSo sad. I love the Ramones.
ReplyDeleteRIP. Hope your rocking in heaven with the band.
What's almost more shocking is the fact that the other three have been gone for a decade or more. Joey's passing seems like last year to me. Sad.
ReplyDeleteI WANNA BE SEDATED....
ReplyDeleteRIP. Love the Ramones.
sorry mixed up my Ramones
ReplyDeleteHoly shit they are all dead??!! 62 is not that old. Rip.
ReplyDeleteRIP, bro.
ReplyDeleteRIP
ReplyDeleteEnd of am era
Well, seamhead, it's definitely the end, the end of the century....
ReplyDeleteRIP buddy and thanks for making music that was so formative for myself, fans, and punk rock! Wishing you peace in the Rockaway Beach up in the sky
XoXo

ReplyDeleteRIP! Pulling out my vinyls.
ReplyDeleteHey, ho, all gone... Can't believe none of them is alive anymore.

ReplyDeleteIn the fall of 1978, several of my fellow suburban high school outcasts skipped our afternoon classes and headed downtown to get in line for the Ramones autograph signing at a local record store which started at 5pm. There were already 50 people ahead of us.
ReplyDeleteMan oh man did I get in trouble from my parents. Totally worth it. Thank god they didn't learn of it for two days. So I still got to see the Ramones in concert the night before I was busted.
Marky took over from Tommy in early 1978 and I'm pretty sure it was Marky who was at the autograph signing, not Tommy. I'll have to dig out my autographs and check.
At the concert, I was backstage for a while because I knew the opening act, BB Gabor. But Ramones manager Linda Stein(who was murdered in 2007) had me tossed when she caught me wandering around backstage. Still, I met the Ramones backstage again and they were awesome and nice to this really geeky high school kid.
The concert was awesome and I am glad I had the opportunity to experience them live.
