Rest in peace. :(
ReplyDeleteYou know how to whistle don't you? Just put your lips together and blow.
ReplyDeleteThey don't have actresses like her anymore even if Hollywood tried with Kathleen Turner RIP :(.
Sooooo.....alphabetical death roll next year's 2015 Oscars? Start with 'B' and end with 'W'? Best way to avoid comparisons about who gets the longest standing ovation.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she led a long successful life.
ReplyDelete@Nutty_Flavor, good call. Slip James Garner in between.
ReplyDelete(Also, is his death close enough to be considered as part of the 'deaths come in threes' thing? I don't want there to be another one soon.)
RIP LB
ReplyDeleteYea Lauren Bacall could teach a thing or two to the actresses out there today. She was a gem. RIP Ms Bacall.
ReplyDelete"I just wish Frank Sinatra would just shutup & sing"
ReplyDelete-Lauren Bacall
oops, I added an extra "just"
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if he should be considered in the class of Williams and Bacall in stature but Ed Nelson died Saturday and he did plenty of tv.
ReplyDeleteRIP :( She was gorgeous. One of a kind.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of any of the actresses today that can compare to those in the "golden days". I think a lot of it is that there was an air of mystery. We now know everything about celebs today.
ReplyDeleteshe was incredible
ReplyDeletewhat presence-real star quality
classy and sexy
So long, to one classy broad.
ReplyDeletelife well lived
ReplyDeleteBetty was a classy dame. And that scene forever defined her. So young and yet sultry and mature without being crass. She lived a long life.
ReplyDeleteJust 19 when she made "To Have and Have Not". Also if you haven't seen it be sure and check out "The Big Sleep" with Bogie. One of the greatest detective movies, and they're both terrific.
ReplyDelete:^(
ReplyDeleteJames Garner would make 3 in my book.
ReplyDeleteGreatest line evah!!!
ReplyDeleteShe was quite the looker...and her voice! So distinctive, and sexy. May you RIP Ms. Bacall.
ReplyDeleteWhat a Beauty and living legend! Finally back together with Bogart. RIP lovely lady!
ReplyDeleteWe were talking about this last night - James Garner definitely makes 3. He was Mr. B's favorite actor - he was as upset about Garner's death as I was about Robin Williams' death.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Talented. And so strange that either Hollywood had no idea what to do with her, or she never got the roles her talent deserved. Shocking that her only Oscar nod was for the dreadful "Mirror Has Two Faces"
ReplyDeleteGoodbye betty, you were one of a kind. Enjoy the afterlife a much as u enjoyed the life u had here. Good journey.
ReplyDeleteLove Lauren Bacall. She was a good actress but even better commedienne (see How to Marry a Millionaire, Sex and the Single Girl, etc.).
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty, talent and class act she was ❤️
ReplyDeleteI know they're all very elderly now but each time another member of the Golden Age of Hollywood passes my heart breaks a little :( They really just don't make 'em like that anymore.
She was a class act. Half of those actresses on screen today could learn a lot from her. R.I.P., Lauren.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought when I got the push yesterday was, "Oh no, she's the Farrah to Robin Williams' MJ." I was a fan of Bacall (and Bogie too) and I hope her death and rememberances don't get overshadowed like Farrah did.
ReplyDeleteWell not only do they not make em like Lauren anymore they don't have the writers to craft those kind of lines so much anymore either.
ReplyDeleteIf you have to go, I hope she was asleep and not aware of the stroke, that's the way to go at 89.
She was classy and sassy.
Loved Lauren Bacall!
ReplyDeleteShe + Katherine Hepburn
Fierce, strong, passionate, kick-a** WOMEN
RIP Lauren!
Thanks for the entertainment Ms.
ReplyDeleteBacall.
The world is only a fraction as glamorous today as it was yesterday.
ReplyDeleteIn furtherance of that thought, loath as I am to impugn Ms. Bacall's integrity I'm gonna have to see crystal-clear security footage and at least three sworn affidavits from employees before I'll believe she ever set foot in a Tuesday Morning store.
Amen to that, JAS, as if she would have gone there - EVER.
ReplyDeleteI met her once, years ago when she was trying out "Applause" before it went to Broadway. She was a diva, a STAH DAHLING, but it seemed perfectly all right for her to be that way. I was, literally, star struck by Lauren Bacall. I have never been frozen and tongue tied like that with any other celebrity - not before and not since.
For all that her marriage to Bogey was "the big one" and it definitely was, she also married Jason Robards, another acting giant. For anyone interested, she did a fabulous autobiography and unlike most celebs she wrote it herself. Fantastic, fascinating woman. I'm actually sad that she's dead, and I usually don't feel that way about celebrity deaths.
She was stunning in a sex kitten sort of way.
ReplyDeleteKey Largo was my fave Bogey & Bacall movie.
RIP, pretty lady.
