Really Enty?!! Get a recliner and let us discuss last night's SOA
***SOA SPOILERS CENTRAL BELOW***
(1) Main highlight for me was not only seeing the depth of Gemma's psychopathy but for the first time, her actual awareness of it. Her line to Juice that she isn't a psychopath was gold. Ummmm...yes, yes you are. It's now clear after your chats with Jax, Juice, and Tara's Ghost or whatever the fuck this week. And the way she spoke to that poor Chinese guy right before she set him up to die. That reminded me of the scene where Heisenberg is at the bar with Jane Margolis' dad.
(2) I always felt Gemma was the most dangerous SOA character because she has enormous power over very powerful men. Behind every strong man is a strong woman, and Gemma is cold as ice. I still think Jax will kill her this season, but Unser, Juice or even Nero could be contenders as well.
(3) What? They didn't even question the dude before torturing him to death? That's....strange. It was sad to see Jax become that unhinged but it is the logical progression. I bet watching him go nuts like that made the crew second guess their earlier promise to back him up without question. Jax's has lost all perspective and reason.
(4) I'm liking Marilyn Manson's cameo thus far. I'm also surprised that SOA chose to use the name AB instead of a fictitious name. I wonder if the production has had to field any threats or copyright infringement claims from the real AB.
(5) General Comparison: My favorite and least favorite thing about BrBa was how tight and organized the writing was. That's what made it such a smart show, but also what made it so easy for me to predict. I know SOA gets a lot of grief because it is so gratuitous, random, and over the top, but that is truthfully a more honest depiction of the lifestyle. In the past 10 years, I've seen 28 kids I worked with die, 22 were from gang-related homicide. And most of these incidents were random. The turnover in SOA is excessive, but that's how it is.
(6) I miss CCH Pounder already. Will Jax and Wendy end up together in the end? Those two are hawt! No Teller sex scenes yet either :(
