Ruben Studdard Is Going To Be On The Biggest Loser

Here was the problem with Celebrity Fit Club. For the most part the participants were interested in the paycheck and just didn't want to finish in last place. Other than that, most were not interested in listening to anyone tell them what to do or eat and only did the bare minimum. There were a few exceptions, but they were few and far between.

Ruben Studdard is headed to Biggest Loser. The former winner of American Idol is somewhere close to the 400 pound range. I think that when he gets on the scales it will be between 400 and 450. He obviously needs to do something so he can stay alive and it will be interesting to see if he treats this seriously or if he treats it like a paycheck. The Biggest Loser trainers and program is nothing like Celebrity Fit Club and I think if the producers tried to do a celebrity version of Biggest Loser it would never work because it would turn into a parody. I hope Ruben takes it seriously. It would be great to see him shed the weight and I think he would be an inspiration to a lot of people.

Sam & Stephanie From Biggest Loser Split

With all that Sam Poueu and Stephanie Anderson had been through in their relationship, I really thought they would make it. From meeting on Biggest Loser and losing all that weight together, to Stephanie being by Sam's side as he recovered from a 54 foot fall to their wedding and announcement they were having a baby, I really thought they would be together forever. Nope. The couple announced they are splitting. Stephanie is currently 7 months pregnant, and she is the one who did the splitting. When one person in the couple makes the announcement, it always makes you wonder if the other person did something.

***Spoilers**** Biggest Loser Winner Announced

I did not watch every episode of this season's Biggest Loser, but I did watch enough to know this was going to be close between Danni Allen and Jeff Nichols, but one pound? I didn't even see that one coming. Can you imagine going through this for so long and then coming up on the short end by a pound? All you would do is second guess everything you did along the way and wondering what you could have done differently or if you had worked out 15 minutes longer everyday or ate one less of something. Or remembered to go pee before the weigh in. Danni Allen was crowned the champ last night after dropping 121 pounds and beating Jeff by one pound. Jeff did lose 181 pounds, which is amazing.

Jillian Michaels Is Returning To Biggest Loser

After stating she would not ever be returning to Biggest Loser, Jillian Michaels has changed her mind and will be back as a trainer for the show for the season that kicks off in January. When she left the show she said she had enjoyed her time on the show but it was time to move on to other things and that she was so busy with other work and job opportunities that she could not find the time. Apparently despite now having two kids and a possible new wife, Jillian has the time. Either that or maybe she wants some time away from home. This season will also feature obese teens but they won't have public weigh ins and won't be eliminated.

Jeremy Britt Lost Half His Body Weight

I think Jeremy Britt has got to be one of my favorite contestants on Biggest Loser. To lose more than half your body weight in the show is absolutely mind blowing. He started off the show at 389 pounds and ended up losing 199 pounds. I was hoping he would hit that 200 pound loss mark, but he did end up weighing in at 190 pounds. To do all of this through diet and hard work shows you don't always need to have surgery to achieve results. Plus, when you work this hard and change your life like most of these long term contestants on the show, you are so loathe to gain any of it back because you know how hard it is to take it off in the first place.

Sam Poueu And Stephanie Anderson Got Married

Who knew after his accident if Biggest Loser contestant Sam Poueu would even live and now he ends up getting married to his fellow Biggest Loser contestant Stephanie Anderson. The couple got married yesterday afternoon and had a bridal party of 27. That is like one for every ten pounds they lost. That is a huge bridal party. That is when you know people have a lot of friends and family and don't know how to say no and don't want to make people feel bad by leaving them out.

Biggest Loser UK Trainer Jumps To Her Death

The trainer in the UK version of Biggest Loser, Angie Dowds jumped to her death this week in England. This morning though was the first time police had confirmed it was her body that had been found about an hour after someone reported to police that they had watched a woman jump off the bridge. Angie had been on the show since it started back in 2005, but had been depressed about breaking up with her girlfriend to whom she was engaged. Dowds had been suspended from the show after telling her dieters to only eat nuts and apples.

Sam Poueu Speaks

On Saturday, former Biggest Loser contestant Sam Poueu Tweeted for the first time since his fall from a fire escape that nearly left him dead over Labor Day weekend. He said, "Excited 2 give my 1st update. I've read ur messages & they're heart warming. It's been tough. It's been a struggle. But u help me fight on."

He had tried to climb down from a fire escape when he was locked out of an apartment, but fell and was critically injured. It is great that he finally seems to be getting better and is able to at least Tweet and tell people how he is doing. You would think that Kneepads would have done a story on him by now and his recovery and hopefully this is a sign we will soon learn and see more about him and his recovery and how his engagement to fellow contestant Stephanie Anderson is progressing.

Anna Kournikova Leaves Biggest Loser

Anna Kournikova took the initiative when she told The Hollywood Reporter she was leaving Biggest Loser. She did this to kind of head off the fact she was not going to be asked back for a second season. I thought she was tough, but apparently there was not enough love to go with the tough. I think really though, she was kind of a diva to the producers and what she required and needed and was pretty much a pain throughout the entire run. The only reason she was hired in the first place was to have more men watch the show. It is not like Ana is out there making a living as a trainer, she just happens to workout a lot herself and has always said that you can have her body too if you work as hard as she does.

Sam Poueu Slipped Off A Fire Escape

Last week, all anyone knew was that former Biggest Loser contestant, Sam Poueu, was in critical condition after a fall. Now, we know how he came to fall. Apparently he was at a party and went to the roof of a building. The door locked behind him so he decided to use the fire escape to get down. At one point he attempted to drop down on to a balcony from the fire escape and slipped. He fell four stories to the ground. He suffered internal injuries and trauma to the right side of his head. Sam was actually working as a trainer at the Biggest Loser resort and had been on vacation in San Francisco when it happened.

Random Photos Part Two

One of my favorite Biggest Loser contestants ever, I really hope Sam Polou pulls through. Fell from a building and is in critical condition.
I can never get enough photos of Chris Bosh and his wife. He must have almost 3 feet on her.
Last night was Fashion Night Out and the creator, Anna Wintour got to pose with what she thought was a 14 year old female model, but turned out to be Justin Bieber.
LeAnn Rimes was celebrated in New York with her Princess Leia dress.
Rose McGowan was also in New York and this is probably one of her best photos ever.
Nicole Richie celebrated Fashion Night Out in Los Angeles by wearing the same fashion she has worn every day for the past three years.
Mary Kate And Ashley celebrated Fashion Night at JC Penney, or as they like to be called now jcp. Yeah, that is like K-Mart calling themselves km. It is still the same store.
How much gel do you think Tilda Swinton uses on a daily basis?
Tiffany in New York had a huge crowd for Fashion Night Out. Leighton Meester played a concert there. Yeah, yeah, I know. So, what do you think really brought them there? Booze?
Kyle Richards did her part by signing autographs in Chicago.
Debra Messing sans wedding ring showed up in New York.
Ditto for the amazing, wonderful Iman.

Anna Kournikova On Biggest Loser?

In one of the strangest reports I have read in a long time, apparently Anna Kournikova is going to join the cast of Biggest Loser as one of the trainers. Huh? Is she going to have everyone out there running down tennis balls? I know she is in excellent shape but just because you are in excellent shape does not mean you can translate that into helping others get into good shape. I mean, I can eat a ton of food, but that does not mean I can get people to also eat as much food as I do.

NBC And Their Biggest Loser Mistake

I had a very long week at work last week catching up and is one of the reasons the blog was kind of lacking in the amount of posts. Hopefully things will return to normal this week. Anyway, I was so tired that I spent all weekend watching a LOT of television. In between all the football games I managed to catch up on lots of weekly programs and got hooked on Gold Rush Alaska. Anyway, I decided to give The Biggest Loser a shot this season. I had been pulled in by the promos of that 507 pound guy so gave it a shot.

It has been a few seasons since I watched. It is still just as compelling as always, but I think NBC has made a huge mistake. The way reality shows can suck you in and get you to stay for four months watching people lose weight or travel the world is by letting you get to know them. They spent so much time on this whole mysterious alternate training thing. Oh wait, I will get back to my thought, but did anyone actually believe the reaction of Jillian and Bob when the contestants told them there were two new trainers? Please. Jillian even said she wanted out of her contract and that new trainers were going to be on the show.

Anyway, giving those pairs of people four weeks of immunity means that we, the viewers will not be invested in them at all. They cannot be eliminated so the show did not really include them once they moved in with the new trainers. We got a brief look at their workout and a very, very quick glimpse of their weight loss. I know that I am going to care what is going on with the Bob & Jillian contestants because those ill be the ones focused on and the ones we will not want to see go or hoping they go. It is going to be very tough to get into the others when they finally are shown on a regular basis.

Jillian Michaels Leaving Biggest Loser To Have Babies

Earlier this week, Jillian Michaels announced that the upcoming season of Biggest Loser will be her last. Apparently she wanted to leave sooner but the producers wanted to make sure she fulfilled her entire contract which runs out after season 11. I can't believe there have been that many seasons of the show. I have not really watched the past few seasons that much. Do they ever update how people are doing from the earlier seasons? I would be interested to see how many of the contestants have managed to keep all their weight off.

Anyway, Jillian explained that she is leaving the show because she wants to take a year off and have kids. "I want to take a year off TV and focus on becoming a mommy and doing more charity work." I think she wants some time to try and repair her image which has taken a huge nose dive in the past year with all of the controversies about whether she is a good trainer and also about all those lawsuits involving products she endorses. My prediction is that a year from now, she will have done some charity work, lined up a new show and will still have no children.

Jillian Michaels Says She Is Suing The LA Times

Apparently Jillian Michaels does not like to be called an actress playing the role of a fitness trainer and plans to sue. In case you did not see it, Monday's edition of The Times basically called Jillian Michaels a fraud. She looks good on television, but according to the trainer who wrote the piece, Jillian's techniques are poor and she uses unsafe training practices. So, he basically called her a fraud, over and over again. The article about Jillian started off as a review for her new DVD and then just blistered her. It was kind of like reading a version of 60 Minutes when they would go ambush someone.

Well, last night Jillian spoke to US Weekly and said she is going to take legal action. "Shame on the Los Angeles Times for saying I'm a fraud and not a trainer. I currently own two certifications, one of which doesn't expire. I developed my own continuing education program for trainers, with sports medicine doctors. I've been a trainer since I was 17-years old for 19 years."

Biggest Loser Contestant Speaks Out

This morning on The Early Show, Kai Hibbard was on. Kai was a contestant on season 3 of Biggest Loser and I am trying to remember her but I can't, so I guess I missed that season. They all start blending together after awhile. I actually thought I watched season 3. Oh well. Anyway, she says she lost 118 pounds on the show but only because of the dangerous things that were allowed to occur.

"I found myself loathing what I looked like the more weight that I dropped because of the pressure on me I found myself doing things like considering coffee a meal. And because of the pressures on the show it was considered acceptable to behave that way."

She said she left the show with an eating disorder, had her hair fall out and she learned how to dehydrate so the weight loss would be more dramatic. I know that some of those contestants starve themselves for a day or two before they weigh in. They have to. They want to win and the producers don't stop them. The producers want drama and they don't want people who only lost one pound each week.

Jillian Michaels Is Just Full Of Revelations

I don't think I have read Women's Health lately but I read this month's interview with Jillian Michaels. In case you don't know who she is, she is trainer on the show Biggest Loser. She is also being sued because of claims her diet pills don't work as advertised. In the interview she doesn't really talk about her pills but she does say she won't ever get pregnant because she loves her body so much. Knowing she sounds conceited, she tries to make up for it by then saying it is better to adopt. I think adoption is great, but if you are doing it because you are self centered than maybe it is best if you just don't become a parent.

"I'm going to adopt. I can't handle doing that to my body," she told the magazine. "Also, when you rescue something, it's like rescuing a part of yourself."

She also says that she dates both women and men and has been in love with both. Interesting.

Biggest Loser Scandal Not A Big Deal

Everyone seems to be just scandalized that The Biggest Loser did some fancy editing that made it seem that a former contestant on the show had run a marathon, when in fact he didn't. In case you haven't seen the details, here is what happened. Dane Patterson who had already lost about 100 pounds when he was kicked off the show was shown at the end where they see how contestants are progressing after six weeks of being on their own without the support of the show. In the segment, Dane was showing crossing the finish line of a marathon with his very fit wife in a time that appeared to be 3 hours and 53 minutes which is really fast. So fast in fact that it got people suspicious.

What had happened according to everyone involved was that Dane had run the first 17 miles and a field producer realized that Dane was not going to make the six hour cut off for the marathon and so went and picked him up in a car, drove him 3 miles and then Dane ran the final six miles. As he crossed the finish line, it was an accurate photo, but some of the lights had gone out in the timer and so the actual time when he crossed was 5 hours and 53 minutes.

Immediately after Dane crossed the finish line, he, his wife and another person went back and ran the three miles he originally missed. Everyone is now calling into question whether reality shows are real. Ummm. I think that was answered a long time ago.

No one ever said the guy finished the marathon in 3 hours 53 minutes and they seem to be forgetting the fact that he did run the entire marathon. And even if you don't count his going back to finish the three miles, he still ran 23 miles in under 6 hours which is a fantastic accomplishment for a guy who was a bazillion pounds overweight just a few months before.

I don't see the big deal. I have never expected reality shows to be real. The Biggest Loser is more real than most because you can see actual weight loss, but if you think reality television is real, and are personally offended by some of the editing techniques used, then you really need to find something else to watch.
