David Copperfield's Plane Makes Emergency Landing

You would think that a guy who can make an airplane disappear or the Statue Of Liberty could also find the time to learn how to fix an airplane. Turns out that is not the case and in what sounds like a very scary situation, David Copperfield's plane had to make an emergency landing in Illinois last night. Crackling sounds were heard which Copperfield played for the Today Show this morning and the plane did a corkscrew spiral for 37,000 feet until they landed. In the snow. Copperfield was headed to NYC to appear on the show.

Lacey Carroll Gives Up

It has been almost three years since Lacey Carroll first accused David Copperfield of sexual assault. Yesterday she dropped the suit. She said she dropped it because David's people had subjected her "to intense scrutiny and constant surveillance, while her family, friends and co-workers have been besieged with subpoenas and demands for personal information."

I wanted to believe her. I have kept up with the case for the entire three years and have tried to report on it when any new developments arose. I think that when the federal government chose not to pursue charges that was a big blow, but the biggest blow was when she got arrested for solicitation of prostitution earlier this year and how she was willing to lie to police at that time. Do I think something happened with David Copperfield? Yes, but I also think we will never know what really happened.

No Criminal Charges For David Copperfield In Sex Assault Case

I guess this wasn't unexpected but I'm still convinced that David Copperfield is probably getting away with something in the accusations of rape for which he was being investigated. A US Attorney in Seattle stated yesterday they would not be filing charges against Copperfield for his actions in 2007 on his private island in the Bahamas. The US Attorney in his statement said, "Neither the investigation, nor its termination, should be perceived as a comment on guilt or innocence." That is something there. According to the report filed back in 2007, a 23 year old woman who is a former model and waitress was pulled out of the crowd at a Copperfield show and later was invited to his island in the Bahamas where she alleges that he sexually assaulted her.

Her civil case is still pending, but now I have to wonder how that is going to work out for her. Last month the woman made a sexual assault claim against another man and police are investigating her for making it all up and her for soliciting prostitution. That isn't good at all. I still think something happened on that island but it also disturbs me that she filed a false report for sexual assault against a guy. According to the police, the woman was waiting tables at a restaurant and decided to meet with a customer after work. She and another woman met the man, but the other woman left because the other two were kissing and groping so much that she was uncomfortable. Copperfield's accuser and the other man rented a hotel room, and surveillance images showed them kissing and holding each other in the lobby.

The woman later exited the hotel room and told hotel staff the man took advantage of her. She said she was dizzy and couldn't remember what happened, but only awoke to find him on top of her, police said. But the man called police, saying she left the room and falsely accused him to the staff because he refused to pay her $2,000 for sex.

If a jury hears about this they will never believe her about David Copperfield even if she was sexually assaulted by him.

Progress On The David Copperfield Sexual Assault Case - Kind Of

Finally something has happened in the David Copperfield sexual assault case. It isn't much but at least we now have a timeline. Yesterday, the a-hole magician's attorneys got a six month stay in the civil case. The reason? Well, it is actually a good reason. The US Attorney in Seattle is still investigating the crime and will finish it and decide whether to charge Copperfield within those six months. While that investigation is ongoing the a-hole can't really answer questions in the civil trial because he might incriminate himself in the criminal investigation. Although it would be fun to watch the a-hole squirm and have to plead the 5th Amendment, it isn't constitutionally fair and so the decision was the correct one.

So, within six months the feds will decide whether to proceed. If they have been working on it for two years and haven't quit then I think we will see something positive from them. If for some reason they decline to take it any further there is still the civil trial. Well, the civil case. I don't think David Copperfield will even let himself get deposed so this will settle before then. The last thing he wants is a really good lawyer asking him about his sex life for three days and having it leaked to the world.

David Copperfield Claims Extortion - Alleged Victim Claims Sexual Assault

Well, it has been two years since the first allegations surfaced accusing magician David Copperfield of sexual assault. In that time there have been no criminal charges filed yet, but the alleged victim did file a civil lawsuit against Copperfield. In the suit, the victim claims that while in the Bahamas with Copperfield that she was sexually assaulted and that Copperfield threatened to kill her.

The suit was filed on July 29th. The woman is a model and a former Miss Washington USA contestant. Copperfield's attorneys say the suit is "extortion for money, plain and simple."

For the past two years I have been thinking about this case and have been wondering if he was ever going to face criminal charges. I think the fact it was in the Bahamas makes it hard. The fact it was a private island in the Bahamas makes it even more difficult. I do hope the woman's case goes to trial so we can at least get some idea of what happened that night on that island. My guess though is Copperfield will pay the woman to walk away and keep her mouth shut. I mean there are other women to invite to the island and he can't have any negative stories coming out about what they might allegedly face if they visit.

Alleged Rapist And Alleged Child Molester Working Together

So, when Michael Jackson decided he wanted magic tricks and illusions for his shows in London this summer, it makes sense that the accused child molester would go searching out the accused rapist and give him his business. They both probably feel like they have got away with something and are still getting rich off the rest of us in the process. Michael of course was acquitted a few years ago of child abuse charges and paid out a bunch of money to make all those other whispers go away.

I don't know what David Copperfield has done to make that federal grand jury in Seattle go away who were investigating the allegations he had raped one woman in the Bahamas and maybe others. I'm guessing the prosecutors had complimentary tickets to his Vegas show or their kids had the ultimate birthday entertainer. The guy who performs magic in the living room and hits on mom in the kitchen.

We all hate Chris Brown for beating the crap out of Rihanna and most people have vowed to never spend another dollar helping Chris Brown, but we are fine with someone who, as a grown man has admitted sleeping with and being in bed with kids that are not his own. We sell out David Copperfield shows all around the world. And now, the two of them are doing business together. I wonder if they will go find some mother son combination together.

Whatever Happened To David Copperfield?

If you will recall, back in October there was a huge amount of press when David Copperfield was accused of rape, and the FBI raided his Las Vegas warehouse. Since then, there has been nothing. Not even really a whisper of anything going on. The two cities most involved in the situation are Seattle and Las Vegas. The major Seattle newspaper has not followed up on the original story, and has not even mentioned David Copperfield since the October allegations surfaced. In Las Vegas, there was one article which was published in November about morality clauses in Vegas contracts. You can read the article here. The gist was that perhaps the MGM should have thrown out Copperfield on his ass, but didn't, and instead had him perform there for a six week run over the holidays where ticket sales were "brisk."

What that says to me is that people don't really care what Copperfield did or may have done or was accused of doing. People were shelling out hundreds of dollars a person to see him perform as if nothing had happened. Indeed, what has happened? Allegedly there is a federal grand jury investigating the claims. No doubt they all have spent a week or two or three traveling to the Bahamas to investigate further during the chilly winter months, but there has been no news, no leaks, and I don't think that is right. I understand grand jury testimony is secret, but I don't understand why the newspapers in the affected cities can't at least have one of their staff spend a day or two investigating where the matter stands now. That last sentence holds true even if David Copperfield did nothing wrong. The newspapers of the world had a field day or two slamming him, and so if they were wrong, everyone should know. If they were right, then don't you think people should know that also so that other women won't be afraid to come forward.

The only news account about David Copperfield since October came from the National Enquirer. It is a story that ran the first week of January. It recounted the story of a limo driver who said David Copperfield attempted to rape a woman in the back of a limo in 1996 while he was dating Claudia Schiffer. The limo driver has offered to testify at any trial.

Here is what he had to say. John St. John said incident took place in Ottawa, Canada in 1996, while Copperfield, 51, was engaged to Claudia Schiffer. St. John was ordered to pick up the woman - a Schiffer lookalike - and then drive around the city while Copperfield attempted to seduce her. He told the Enquirer, "I know when someone is having consensual sex in my limousine, but what was going on this time was different. They were struggling and I heard raised voices. I could hear the girl saying: 'No. Get off me' and 'Stop'.

"It was the first time as a driver that I didn't know what to do. I am a father of three daughters and I knew I would be kissing my career goodbye by dragging Copperfield out of the car - but I thought I had no other option. "Just then I heard David call me on the intercom saying: 'Take me back.'" Copperfield's representatives have described St.John's claims as "fiction"
