Jani Lane Has Died

Jani Lane, the former lead singer of the metal rock band Warrant, has died in Los Angeles. He was 47.

Officer Sara Faden says Lane's body was found Thursday in a Woodland Hills hotel. She had no immediate information on the cause or circumstances of his death.

He joined Warrant in 1984 and wrote such hits as "Heaven," ''Down Boys" and "Cherry Pie."

He left behind two daughters. This is one of those cases where you could see it coming. Jani just could never get quite right and was always slipping. He kept trying until the end, but it just was not meant to be.

Other Jail News - Ice-T & Jani Lane

Ice-T was on the way to the vet with his wife Coco and their dog when Ice was pulled over by police because he was not wearing a seatbelt. After discovering that Ice-T was driving on a suspended license, he was arrested and taken to jail. He did not stay long and was given a court date. Umm, if you are driving on a suspended license, it is always a good idea to not speed, or run red lights and most certainly, to always wear your seatbelt. You should do that anyway. I have this extra addition I put in my mom's minivan to accommodate my girth. I like that word. I also like heft.
Meanwhile, former Warrant singer and frequent DUI arrestee, Jani Lane plead no contest to his latest DUI arrest and will serve 120 days in jail, which using celebrity, Los Angeles jail math is about 4 hours. No, he will probably be in there for 30. This is another guy who has shown flashes of getting better and being sober, but it just never quite sticks.

Jani Lane Arrested For DUI - Again

Jani Lane, the former lead singer for Warrant was arrested last night for DUI. In what is seeming like a more frequent occurrence, Jani was arrested for the second time in a little under a year for DUI. The last time was back in July and he was placed on three years probation. It looks like he will definitely be spending some time in jail this time around. The guy needs help. Did he even go to rehab last time?

Sometimes The Justice System Makes No Sense

Jani Lane, formerly of Warrant and Celebrity Fit Club pleaded no contest to his DUI charge from back in June. As part of the deal he made with prosecutors to get his hit and run charge dismissed, he is going to have to spend two days in jail, 36 months probation, 3 months of alcohol classes and spend 30 days picking up trash on the side of the road. That all seems like a fair penalty for a DUI. I am ok with that. This is the part that makes absolutely no sense to me. Jani was also ordered to pay $395 in court costs and fines. Great. No problem. However if he chooses not to pay the $395 he can spend an additional 13 days in jail. So, if Jani doesn't have $395 to pay to the County of Los Angeles, they are willing to spend $100 a day for 13 days to house him and feed him and spend $1300 and willing to give up the $395 they were charging him. Imagine as this scenario is multiplied 100 times every day and you can see there is something terribly wrong with the way the courts have decided to do business. I don't understand why you can't set up payment arrangements or something. I don't care if the person only pays $10 a month for the three years they are on probation, it is better than the current procedure. No wonder we don't have any money in this state.

Jani Lane Arrested For DUI

I don't watch Celebrity Fit Club that often, but the season Jani Lane, the former lead singer of Warrant was on the show was one of the seasons I was hooked. I remember seeing the guy struggle so much with not only his weight, but his alcohol problem and was really pulling for the guy. Unlike Daniel Baldwin who came on the show and was a complete menace, I actually thought Jani was really trying to get better and to get his life back on track. I think at one point during the show he had a blackout and everyone thought he had killed himself.

Last night he was involved in a car accident and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Hopefully this is just a slip. I'm not excusing the guy for drinking and driving because there is no excuse at all for that. I am hoping though that this was just a slip and that maybe getting arrested for DUI will bring into focus the fact he needs some help and that he needs to be a role model for his two daughters.
