Hello Dear Friends!!! Hope you're all doing fabulously well :)
As some of you may know, I was on the set of "American Pie 7" (yes, 7!!!) in Vancouver last week. As widely reported in the press, a newly-released "rehab-ite" (I mean, there may as well be a term since it's so common these days) Tara Reid was cast in the movie, and then un-cast, if that's even possible?!?! She was all set to play a teacher in the latest installment, which, if you ask me, is rather ironic.
(The women of American Pie and me)
Anyhow, the story goes like this: I'm running late (as always) to LAX and an Air Alaska flight last Monday, I made it just in time to grab a seat and go over a bit of last minute information about the movie before boarding the flight. Literally, as I'm reading up on Tara Reid's role, I glance up, only to be face to face with none other than the actress, herself. She was dressed in a Newsboy Cap, Hudson Jeans tucked into Uggs and a basic black top. Oh, and might I add, Tara was rolling around with her yummy Louis Vuitton Luggage- pretty damn plush.
(The guys of American Pie and me)
If you've never seen Tara in person, she's super tiny. I'd say around 5'3, 100 pounds, if that. So, here's where things get weird...We get ready to board the flight and I'm thinking, "Hell Yeah, what a great time to get acquainted with Tara before our interview-SCORE!" But, that never happened. Tara never made the flight or the movie.
When I got off the plane and met up with a production assistant from "American Pie" he said the entire cast and crew were shocked to hear she pulled out last minute. In fact, they were so sure Tara was coming they even had a trailer set up for her, which they later removed. Days later, we found out it was just a case of a Hollywood deal gone bad, at the very, very, very last minute.
(Producers of American Pie and me)
I hear that it was nothing too juicy, just a miscommunication between her camp and "American Pie" and that it could have been about money or something similar to that.
Moving on. Even though Tara was out, Twilight was in!!! One of the most-gorgeous men on the planet, (aside from my own-oh yeah, and Enty) Kellan Lutz, and most of the "New Moon" Cast were staying at our hotel--talk about being in the "Twilight Zone!!"
My girl/Producer, Mariam and I were hanging downstairs at the very cozy bar when all of a sudden Kellan, Peter Facinelli, Nikki Reed and a few others rolled up. Kellan comes over to our table and asks if we wanted to see his friend's band play, to which we responded by saying literally nothing!!! It's not that we were being rude, it's just that we were in utter shock that this hottie was standing before us.
(Twilight cast members at Kellan's concert)
After a long (and I do mean long) pregnant pause, I spoke, and said something like "Well, it's past my bedtime but Mariam..." Okay, now I know you probably all think I'm a serious nerd, but I had to be on camera the next morning, looking and feeling my best. Anyhow, my girl took one for the team, met Kellan and his other Vampire friends at a local bar and had a blast! She reported back saying there were tons of young fans everywhere and the cast was very kind to take pictures and sign autographs.
(Kellan's concert)
I know you're wondering about the others- No, we never saw Robert Pattinson (sorry ladies) and yes, we did run into Kristin Stewart. She was in the business center and appeared to be very sweet.
That's all for now folks, I'll check in soon with more celebrity stories.

So, yesterday the internet was all abuzz about Dakota Fanning playing the part of Jane in the upcoming sequel to Twilight, New Moon. Although I wasn't convinced she would be good for the part, after reading all of your comments I decided she wouldn't be half bad. However, it might be all too much too soon anyway. Now this could be a ploy by the producers to get Dakota to make a decision, but my source says that as of two days ago, actresses were still auditioning for the role of Jane in the movie. If Dakota had been cast, they wouldn't be doing that. If it is a negotiating ploy, they might be.
The part is definitely going to go to someone who is 15 or 16 years old, so that would seem to give Dakota a shot and not the 28 year old actress that a big name agency is trying to shove down the producers' throats.

I talk a lot of crap about Twilight and New Moon and will be doing so later today actually about the whole Dakota Fanning thing. However, I don't think I could be more excited that America got an audition for the role of Emily and I hope she gets it. I hope that all of you who have read her posts over the past year also wish her good luck because it is a role that can change your entire life. For all you Twilight fans who will come to this post and read about the audition, I do want to say that America is part Native American and would be excellent as Emily.
Hi!
So more adventures in Hollywood. So my agent calls me on Tues and says you have an audition tomorrow but it's stunts so make sure you can do all of them. I read the audition. Fall backward in chair (no problem do it all the time, by accident), break through glass (no problem just did it for the Chris Cornell video) AND be set on fire. Whoa. Hold up. Nope. Most certainly have NOT done that.
Told my agent. She said no worries. If you are open to do it, go. After speaking to my favorite stunt guy, John Dixon, I felt confident. Sort of.
The powers that be on the commercial are anxious that I haven't done a burn before. Can't blame 'em. So today, they brought me in for a fire test. Passing this test means 1. I have nerves of steel. 2. That I have the job for sure 3. I don't get 3rd degree burns on most of my body.
You ever have those days where you stop in the middle of what you are doing and think to yourself, "wow. This is my job. This is my life. This is not what I expected." I was never a daredevil as a kid. Quite the opposite. And here I find myself covered in flame retardant gel with a very cool stunt guy, Terry James, asking me "Are you ready to be lit on fire?" And I said, cool as a cucumber, "Sure."
It was weird. It was even more weird to see the footage. As soon as I get it, I'll post it for you all to see. So as long as I try to forget that my entire back is on fire, I do have nerves of steel. I did get the job for sure. We shoot on Saturday. To be continued!
Oh!!! And I got to audition for New Moon today! For the role of Emily. The casting director, you fans of the book will be glad to know, has read the books and loves them. And you can tell. His direction was spot on for the character. I loved the books. I would so love to be in the movie!!!
Groupidity Episode 4 - "Sleeping your way to the bottom"
This is the last episode with the writer, last episode with one of the main actors and last episode without a DP. The actor got some great gigs and we had to replace that person. Which is exciting! Who do you think it is? I think you'll think the way to worked that into the story is funny. But you'll have to wait to ep 5 to see that...

That math in the headline is about the limits of my skills. It's why I'm a lawyer. It is also the math that is the driving force behind the sequel to Twilight. I haven't seen Twilight yet. I was supposed to, but decided after buying the ticket, that getting drunk sounded like more fun. Damn you ArcLight for having a bar in a movie theatre. Much more easy to just stay where you are then have to walk a few hundred feet to see a movie.
Anyway, earlier this week I talked about how the sequel was going to suck because Summit, which is producing the film fired the director because she said she wanted to take her time and do it right. I said that Summit wanted to get something out to the public no matter what just so they could keep making bucks. Well according to Entertainment Weekly, Summit doesn't have more than a rough draft for the sequel, wants to change one of the leads, can't find any Native Americans for roles that need to be filled, doesn't have a director, but has already set a release date and wants to start pre-production next Wednesday in Vancouver. Yeah, this is going to turn out really well.
I know lots of you e-mailed me to say that replacing the director was the best thing they could have done because the acting was horrible. And, I guess that means that with a new director, the acting is going to suddenly be better? The reason scenes looked awful in the first one was because there was no budget for the film and so they had to keep moving along. Summit wasn't sure if the film was going to make money and so they did it on the cheap. The budget is higher in the sequel, but I don't think the quality is going to get much better.

As good as the film Twilight has done at the box office, the prospects of New Moon doing as well took a big hit over the weekend. Apparently Catherine Hardwicke, who directed Twilight felt the script that was done for New Moon is nowhere near ready to be shot. However, her bosses at the studio think it is just fine like it is and want to be as greedy as possible. So, what that means is they want to have the film in the theatres by the end of next year. Hardwicke didn't think that making a good film and meeting that timeline was possible so she was shown the door.
The thing is Hardwicke is a very fast director. She isn't a James Cameron type. But, when she says the script is bad and needs work, you need to believe her. The second film is always tough when you are going to be shooting multiple films. The stars all have egos from the success of the first film. Everything is being rushed because the studio wants to make a ton of money quickly. Budgets usually skyrocket because the studio knows they have a gold mine and they don't care. Throw in a script which will probably be changed as they are filming and you have a recipe for disaster.
The studio probably knows this but is so confident that fans will still throw down their money to see the film, that they really don't care. They will when no one comes to see the film after the first weekend.
