It Sounds Like An Episode Of COPS

Bad boys bad boys, what you gonna do, what you gonna do when they come for you? Ahh, I miss COPS. Sunday nights on FOX with COPS and The Simpson's and even back in the day Married With Children. Now that was programming.

Anyway, Randy Quaid and his wive Evi were caught yesterday by police in Marfa, Texas. Marfa is way out in the middle of nowhere west Texas and when the police arrested them, Randy and Evi put up a fight. It was probably a better fight than you really ever got to see on COPS. According to Marfa police, Randy verbally and physically assaulted policemen but the police decided to not press charges. As for Evi, the police had to wrestle her to the ground as she struggled while being arrested.

This is some crazy stuff. According to documents the Quaid's sent to TMZ they paid their hotel bill. Of course they only got the cashiers check on Tuesday so it wasn't like this was all some big misunderstanding. They also hand wrote a statement to TMZ which you can read here.

They were probably hoping for the Marfa Lights to take them away.

How long has he been a nut job? This is the first I've heard of odd behavior.

What are they on?

Oh, and Amazon, he's always been a freak. He makes the Pivert's "mercury poisoning" look tame:

Why Randy Quaid and his wife Evi would allegedly make a habit of stiffing hotels is anybody's guess. Maybe they're broke. Maybe they think they're Bonnie and Clyde. Or maybe they're just nut jobs. Actors Equity decided on the latter in February 2008, banning Mr. Quaid from the union for life.

Yes, for life.

The actors' union took the dire action after all 26 cast members in Seattle's production of the Broadway-bound musical "Lone Star Love" filed charges against Randy, saying he "physically and verbally abused his fellow performers and that his oddball behavior forced the show to close."

Responding to the union's decision, Randy said:

I am guilty of only one thing: Giving a performance that elicited a response so deeply felt by the actors and producers with little experience of my creative process that they actually think I am Falstaff."

Here is an excerpt from the laundry list of complaints against him, as published in the New York Post:

* Quaid hit an actor on the back of the head four times during performances. When the stage manager told him to stop, he smacked the actor again.

* Another actor was warned that if he made direct eye contact with Quaid onstage, he'd be fired.

* Quaid made "sexually inappropriate" comments onstage, repeatedly referring to an actress' musical instruments as her "gynecological instruments."

* The couple tried to rewrite the script, to eliminate characters.

* Randy "felt free" to change blocking, lyrics and lines during performances, and repeatedly failed to show up for note sessions and rehearsals.

And Evi was no slouch either. She appeared at Equity offices demanding complaint documents and among the altercations that ensued was an incident in which Evi allegedly kicked a 72-year-old receptionist in the shins, drawing blood. Four Equity staffers got temporary restraining orders against Evi and she got a restraining order against Equity.

You can't make this stuff up. I'm loving reading this trash. They're obviously whacked out on drugs. The missus is one scary bitch.

I had no idea. He really is a lunatic, and she is his perfect match. Good for them for finding each other.

That's quite a beard he's grown.

And Evi? Kicking a senior citizen? That's something to be proud of.

Oooh, Ms. Cool, I would sure as hell watch that one!

They belong in jail. A non-union reality show would be the only work they could get now. Losers.

I wonder if they go to the same barber? They live in Texas and Marfa has turned into a burgeoning artist community - but wow the crazy is just running all over this.

Yes, he's been a wing nut for a long time, he sued Focus for under paying him for Brokeback Mountain. He claims they paid him, the producers deny they paid him more but the suit was dropped. Hire at your own risk I guess.

Majik, I like picking freaky avatars, but I also like the really cute ones, so maybe it's time for a change.
