Amanda Knox Going Free?
It looks like an Italian appeals court is set to release Amanda Knox at the end of the month. In a stunning defeat for prosecutors, the judge refused to hear from new witnesses, revised records about the DNA tests used at trial, and threw out some of the original DNA results. Apparently, although Amanda's DNA was found on the handle of a 12 inch knife, the judge says the blood found on the blade did not belong to the murder victim. Umm, then whose blood was it? Seriously. I want to know. There was human blood on the blade but the judge is saying it is not the victim. The prosecutors say it is. Human blood does not usually end up all over the blade of a 12 inch kitchen knife.
So, with all the losses piling up, even prosecutors admit that Amanda will probably go free by the end of September when the judge makes his final ruling. Sentenced to 60 years in jail, if freed, Amanda will have served about 2. She will then come back to the United States and go on book tours with Casey Anthony. The victim in this case is Meredith Kercher and you never hear from her parents. You always hear from Amanda's parents. I wonder what Meredith's parents think of all this.

I may be in the minority, but I have never been convinced of her guilt.

I agree, also I believe I read that Meredith Kercher's parents were at the trial but stayed in the background.

Perhaps Rudy Guede can go on that booktour with Casey when he's released from prison in a mere sixteen years, seeing as how he left his bloody handprint at the scene of the crime, *and* his DNA was found on Meredith's body.
I think she did it, along with her boyfriend. I'm not sure what you folks have read that didn't pretty much spell it out.
Either way, the judge is doing a disservice by not allowing the blood and other evidence to be considered.
She and her boyfriend were convicted on testimony given by the vagrant who raped and killed Meredith. I am not 100% sure of her innocence but am about 99% away from finding her guilty. Let her go. Period.
My butcher's knife ends up with blood on it fairly often. I'm lucky to still have all of my fingers.
I have doubt of her guilt as well, the prosecutor was charged with abuse of power and comes off shady imho. Also, I saw a program where the author Doug Preston spoke about the same prosecutor trying to frame him for the crimes he was researching for a book. He actually left Italy he was so spooked by him.
I don't think she's guilty either. Rudy's DNA was all over that crime scene, yet in Italy they jump to the conclusion that Amanda Knox used sex to brain-wash the guys and orchestrate the whole thing. Mind-boggling.
the victim's family says they just want the truth. if amanda's released, i don't think they're going to yell about it. i think they realize there are major problems with this case.
the prosecutor is a shady guy, the crime scene was not secured, the DNA evidence was very suspect, and i never thought there was enough evidence to convict her.
I never thought she was guilty either. I boycotted any trip to Italy until this girl was released. I have no money to take a trip to Italy so this was an easy sacrifice, however. But I am elated she may be released because I thought her imprisonment was a travesty.

I dont think we hear much from the victims parents simply because American media doesn't report it. They've said a few things and I believe they think Amanda is guilty, but they don't really have a reason to go to the media whereas Amandas parents do.
I am convinced Amanda is innocent, and is just a naive girl who didn't get out of Italy in time, every other one of amandas roomates left Italy right after the murder, Amanda stayed hoping to comfort Merediths family.
Amanda's guilty of being a dumb american abroad, nothing more.
I definitely think she was involved somehow. Either way, what a massive clusterfuck this case has been.
I think she's guilty. read the book angel face and you will likely believe she is guilty as well.
the lack of dna is a red herring. the morning after the murder before the body was found she went to buy cleaning supplies at the local hardware store and she and her boyfriend cleaned and mopped up the apartment before the body was found by the police.
her parents have tried to control the media and have done a great job of it.
I don't think she is guilty so I am happy to here she will finally be going free.
The reason I don't think she's guilty is the lack of DNA evidence. They did not find her DNA or her boyfriend's DNA at the crime scene yet they found Rudy's DNA at the crime scene. In order to be guilty, Amanda & her boyfriend must have cleaned the crime scene & then planted Rudy's DNA.
I think the case and her actions/behavior were sensationalized from the beginning. I think the Italian justice system's multiple failures in the handling of the case mean we will never know what really happened. I don't believe that the American judicial system would have convicted her with the available evidence and testimony that has been deemed legitimate (i.e. there ain't much).
She immediately blamed her African-American boss at the bar where she worked. She's being prosecuted for implicating him as well.
I think she's going to get away with murder.
I think there are good arguments both for and against her being guilty, which leads to a clear case of "reasonable doubt." How sad for Meredith's parents that the truth will probably never come out.

Although I agree, Mooshki, there are definitely arguments for both sides. I however have absolutely zero doubt of her guilt.

Ive read quite a bit about it and have come to the conclusion that there is no way she should have been convicted and it is very possible she is innocent.

I am surprised at Enty, I thought he was a lawyer. He should know better. Even if he is not a trail lawyer.
From what I've read, Enty got some facts wrong. She was sentenced to 26 years - not 60. I also believe that I read that the very very small amount (not all over as Enty described) of Meredith's DNA found on the blade was not large enough for a second testing which is common for confirmation. And the defense was arguing that it actually was not blood at all, but some other form of DNA. And Meredith's family does speak out in the British media. I believe they think she is guilty.
The Italians messed this all up by contaminating samples and the prosecutor added in some pretty weird fantasies to boot - there was zero evidence for that whole sex-game-went-wrong scenario. Zero. I definitely do not think she should have been convicted and hope to god she walks free.
She was doing cartwheels (cartwheels!) in the police station when she was brought in. That doesn't sound to me like a sweet compassionate person who stuck around to comfort the family.
As has also been pointed out, cleaning the area (around the body) before the police arrived...?

I'm kind of shocked by Enty. I suspect he hasn't actually read about this case. In truth, the prosecutor claimed at Amanda's trial that there was DNA evidence linking the knife to the victim; that was false and the prosecutor KNEW it was false when he said it. It's also not like this is a murder mystery: Guede clearly did it, is in jail for doing it and had no real connection to Knox or Sollecito. The prosecutor's whole theory makes zero sense.
If you want to read about this prosecutor, I high recommend The Monster of Florence by Douglas Preston and Mario Spezi. It's horrifying. The book was written pre-Amanda Knox's arrest and has nothing to do with her, but the super-corrupt prosecutor is the same one who tried Amanda's case; the new version of the book actually has an afterwards by Douglas Preston that basically says "Holy shit, I just realized this was the same prosecutor as in the Amanda Knox case" and goes on to point out all of the problems in the prosecution. It's fascinating.
My gut feeling is that Rudy Guede committed the crime, yet something is not quite right about Amanda Knox.
It was a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE miscarriage of justice. I have no doubt that she is innocent. It's that dude in prison already who did it.
Of course her DNA was on the knife. The knife was used in the house.

This news and the Memphis 3 being freed makes me hopeful about justice in this world, at least briefly.

SHE IS IN NO WAY GUILTY! Read what Beth - she is 100% spot on. "Black-magic sex ritual"? Really Italy? The whole trial was a total farce.
I hope you people that think she was guilty experience what she's going through for yourselves. Might open your minds a bit as to how legal systems everywhere are corrupt.

I read lots about this case and thought Amanda makes Casey Anthony look like the rank amateur she really is. I look forward to their tour.

Meredith's family is 100% sure about Amanda AND HER EX (raffaele sollecito, the son of a famous doctor and politician) guilt.
Some very cinical usa reporters keep telling why italy is imprisoning amanda when we already have a murder and above all he's...black?
While I do think there isn't enough evidence to convict her guilty, BOYCOTTING ITALY? Seriously? Why aren't you boycotting the U.S. for OJ freakin Simpson, Casey Anthony, etc.? An entire country with millions of people should not be boycotted for their judicial system, no matter how corrupt or inefficient it may be.
You do realize that if people around the world did that to the U.S. during the Bush days up to now, we would have zero tourism. Real logical.
^and when I say the U.S., I mean for its government in general, not necessarily the judicial system. Many people around the world think U.S. government is completely bonkers.

A definitely weird story and if it's true that the prosecution "moved/arranged" the facts to fit the case, well shame on them.
Here, in San Diego, we also have several weird cases (one being the deaths in Coronado with the little boy falling down the stairs, and the girlfriend supposedly committing suicide by throwing herself over the balcony hanging).
They are re-opening the case of a young girl who was stabbed in her bed, her brother and two friends confessed, which was later thrown out (they did not have their parents or attorneys present and they were questioned for many hours). They ended up convicting a homeless guy with one very small drop of the girls blood found on his jacket. He said he was rummaging through the trash and found the jacket. He was als known in the neighborhood as going through the trash and looking for stuff. The guy has tested at a very low IQ and many said he was the prosecutors scapegoat.
We had another weird one in the small town where I live where a horse trainer supposedly killed her husband with horse tranquilizer. Some believe her daughter was also involved in the actual killing.
Both have been examples of movies, documentaries,etc., especially in the interrogation techniques used on the teenage boys.
