This starlet has a lot of siblings. The oldest sibling has a couple of kids and just recently lost their job. The starlet doesn’t have a ton of cash to throw around but is helping the older sibling (who is not famous) pay for medical insurance for the family. She doesn’t want anyone to know because some of her business dealings are with staunch Republicans, a rarity in H-town.

I'm trying to figure out how the Republicans and helping out her sib are related. Maybe the sib is a fierce Democrat?
Probably because they'd look down on her for the charity aspect of it and it could jeopardize the business relationships?
Good for her, but I'm confused as to why "staunch Republicans" would care if someone wanted to pay her sister's insurance. I know quite a few people I would identify as staunch Republicans and they do nice things for people all the time. I don't get that part of the blind.
I'm confused by this BV. How does the actress helping her sister out have anything to do with Staunch Republican business dealings? It's very nice that she's helping her sister and her family out during this rough time the country is going through...and No...Republican's wouldn't look down on her for helping her sister out. That has nothing to do with anything and would never effect her business relationship with them.
Agree Brenda and RJ, I don't get that part with the GOP either and it is really an unneccessary part of the blind. Actually you would find that most Republicans would applaud her because they are trying to take care of themselves without relying on our increasingly inept govt to do it for them. Ginormous kudos to her!
I'm with everyone else so far. I don't understand what knowing Republicans has to do with showing familial charity. Most people, I would like to think, no matter what their political persuasion, would help a sibling any way they can.
It's not that the Republicans would disapprove - it's that Hollywood is a heavily progressive town and conservatives have been known to have experienced some prejudice. At least, that's the way I read this blind. The starlet just wants her conservative leanings kept quiet.

maybe it's because the issues involved, healthcare and unemployment, are big political issues the GOP is dealing with in a particular way? I can't think of many actresses involved with the Republican party.

This is a fake blind. It makes no sense politically. Republicans are all for supporting charities. And they are all for privately funding your own or your family's health care. Whatever. Just so the taxpayer doesn't do it. This is a total B.S. blind.

I wonder if the reason that the GOP connection is mentioned as a reason for being secret is this - the starlet is helping out her sister with medical insurance while the Democrats are all for the gov't model. Maybe she is afraid if it gets out in liberal Hollywood she will be used as "example" by the Democrats of what is wrong with healthcare, which will piss off her Republican business partners even though she wouldn't be the one exploiting it.
(Yes, I know the above is a grammatical nightmare but I don't have the will to fix it.)

I'm assuming that the reference to staunch Republicans is a clue to the blind, but other than Shannen Doherty, I don't remember anyone who might have been called a "starlet" in Hollywood who would come out and say s/he supported Republicans. And she's not exactly a "starlet" anymore.
Sounds like Sarah Jessica Parker. I remember her saying something about needing to keep a Democrat in the White House because she had family that depended on certain programs. At the time she was slammed for being cheap and not taking care of her family. Don't get the GOP reference either. Republicans are the minority in Hollyweird.
