not watching but I think it hilarious they have to use subtitles on Honey Boo Boo

Where was this when I first started dating my man?!?! I had no idea fanny meant pussy and thought he was asking to wrong-hole me. It was so romantic!
In case you were wondering, the British "you and me both" translates to "me too". And that is when I turned it off.
I am British by blood (mom born in Edinburgh and dad born in London) and I can usually make out what people are saying but I was watching the British version of Jersey Shore (Seaside Heights I think?) and had not idea what they were saying..
Geordie Shore. And maybe its for the best you couldn't understand Derek, trust me.
I love when they translate "bastard" as "idiot" and other euphemisms.
That accent was hideous. Last time I was in London, I don't remember they had such horrible accent, but "British" means from all the islands, therefore it can be from elsewhere.
Where are our lovely British readers to help pinpoint their accents? Otherwise I'll consult my bf later tonight about this.
Kermit, try Liverpool next time.
LadyH this is British pub fare. It was confusing reading the subtitles.
Fanny does mean girly bits.
Well, that was painful.
What was that accent?
When we're drunk, we're *pissed*, not "well bladdered".
"I had the horn"?! "[T]alk to John Thomas"?! "Squeezing my strawberry creams"?! "Slap and tickle"?! Is this a 'Monty Python' sketch?
Please don't pay any attention to this. It's nonsense.
Oh that's hilarious Lady. I remember cracking up when I was a kid and my friend from Minesota talked about her fanny pack.
Okay, I had absolutely no problem understanding that and I didn't need any subtitles either. Even if you've never watched a Brit-com in your life (I have watched tons!), it's all pretty obvious from context what they're saying.
Yoj : same here in Australia. Oh, and a texan friend told me that subtitles were needed for Monty Python. I remember a friend from Atlanta misunderstanding me when I was pissed. He wondered what he had done to upset me.
@Bee Haven
You're Australian?! Wonderful! I hope to visit Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef one day.
I am so sorry I forgot about THIS until now. Ellen and Hugh Laurie's version is much better...
U wot m8? Kiwi here.Don't need no subtitles
@Lady Heisenberg
Thank you for that!
My favourite: Hugh's face when she says "ba-donka-donk".
I ADORE Hugh Laurie, that was beautiful!
@Seven of Eleven
You were missed today!
Yoj: I haven't been to either of those destinations. Hoping to before we grow up & start a family.
BeckyMae is an aussie & very well travelled however.
@Bee Haven
I like the new photo, Bee! Is that your bus driver? I do love a beard.
Thanks for the tip about BeckyMae.
Yoj-it is indeed my hirsute bus driving man! He's going for "full wizard".
@Bee Haven
Sorry for the late reply, Bee, I only just saw this.
You're a lovely looking couple.
*sigh* Did I mention how I feel about beards?
