Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim Miami 2008
I wasn't planning on posting any other Miami Swimwear photos beyond the ones I posted last week. I primarily chose that course of action because every time I looked at the models I just realized how many gorgeous women are in the world and how unless I lose 50 pounds, grow some hair and find a good dentist, my only hope is to rent by the hour. But, when I saw that Ms. Jessica Simpson had a show, I decided to go ahead and post. It seems that her main requirement for the models is that they all attended her acting school which as you know is run by Pimpa.

I think she in fact DID design those swimsuits. They're HIDEOUS. Seriously hideous...I don't think even I could do a worse job if I tried. Stick with cosmetics peddling, Jess!
I'd refine that a bit, Melissa. How about "stick with staying in the house, Jess"?
I am severely UNIMPRESSED - not that I'd expect anything impressive from Jessica, but that is the WORST groups of models I have ever seen, and some of the ugliest swimwear out there.
You're right, Ent, they definitely went to Papa Joe's acting class. I wonder what "props" he had to use to teach them how to make their mouths look like that.

I was there backstage dressing the models. I had already worked several shows during Miami Swim week and Jessica Simpson was the finale. I wasn't superexcited about her show, having worked more credible shows like Red Carter and Badgley Mischka, but once backstage, the vibe and the energy and anticipation was unreal. I met the designer, Tracy, who also designs for True Religion, and yes, Jessica had a hand in all the designs, which is evident when you look at them. The models were super jazzed and felt good in the suits. The suits weren't anything like I would design, but they are very American, which is what she was going for as a theme, from the music on down. I have a new found respect for her from a personal standpoint, as she was very kind, down-to-earth and didn't make fooling around and acting silly with us, dancing around with us backstage. It was a fun show after all and I'm glad I stayed late to work it. Good for my resume too, as it was her debut show and got so much media coverage.
