Shawn King Left A Suicide Note

Let me start this off by saying that if you have kids, especially young kids, you need to suck it up or go get help or do something. You just cannot kill yourself and leave your young children behind to deal with that. I have known two different sets of children who had one of their parents kill themselves and they were a mess for the rest of their life. One ended up killing themselves too.

Anyway, the explanation from Shawn King's father that Shawn taking the pills was some kind of accident or a miscalculation seems more and more bogus. Police in Utah say they found a suicide note from Shawn which made it clear she was taking the pills intentionally and it even said where she would like to be buried.

Police also found several empty prescription bottles. They were empty despite the fact they had been filled within the last ten days. The bottles included Ambien and some anti-anxiety medication.

Meanwhile, Larry King had this to say. "Our marriage is still together, and I am staying very close to our children, who we love immensely. We shall go through this difficult time intact as a family."

Of course he probably said that from the bed of Shawn's sister.

Of course she left a note. I think she did this to evoke sympathy and gain attention. I don't believe she really intended to complete suicide as she appears to be too vain for that.

I hope she gets the help, suicide is a very serious problem. I won't make light of it because sooo many people are affected by it daily.

I know it's a sad thing, but it still pisses me off. Suicide is the ultimate act of selfishness when a person has a family/kids. The only thing worse is when some idiot first kills an innocent child and THEN kills themselves.

You're right Ent, the children of a suicidal parent (at least the ones I know) never recover.

the only think shocking in this is that Shawn's father is still alive.i mean he's gotta be some old..

she's not that old...what? late forties early fifties? My grandma still is spry in her 80's. Not uncommon.

Sigh. I get really uppity when people start lambasting people who commit suicide. Unless you've almost been there yourself, you DON'T KNOW. My father committed suicide, and he was so low he was simply not in any headspace to consider anyone but his own pain. Were things difficult for us afterwards? Yes. Have I learned a shitload about suicide and treatment of mental illness as a result? Yes.
Judge not until you know.

Enty says that when you have young kids you need to suck it up, but suicide or the feeling to commit suicide it's not that easy. I have a family member who tried to kill himself(didn't succeed) and what he kept saying was that "we didn't understand, that it's about feeling pain and feeling like your life just goes out of hand. The only solution was to stop the pain." It was surreal to see him like that. I guess that until you're in that place, some just don't understand and see it as selfish.

@RocketQueen I'm sorry you lost your father.

My heart will always go out to those who commit suicide and their families. These individuals are oftentimes mentally ill. In their minds, suicide IS the answer.

Oh, and we should strive to not make suicide a moral issue. Nor is it having a lack of character.

Did you see the list of pills she had at her bedside? That woman has a serious drug problem. It's very sad.

I'm glad that she's still in the hospital and getting help.

I do think we need to find out where Shannon Price was during all of this. You never know....
