Shannon Price Still Trying To Get Gary Coleman's Money

With all the Mel Gibson drama, Shannon Price had quietly faded to the background. Now though she has filed a petition in a Utah court that says that she and Gary Coleman, despite being divorced were still common law husband and wife.

If she is able to prove her case then she will stand to inherit everything Gary had. That includes his house and all the residuals from his acting career. As much as I hate her and I do hate her with a passion she does seem to have a good case. Everyone thought they were married. In addition, they had joint bank accounts and portrayed themselves as husband and wife. Also, Gary referred to her in government filings as his wife even after the divorced.

I can't believe she is going to end up with his stuff. Crazy.

Who else would get it? As much as I dislike her and find his death hinky, I don't seem to recall him being close to anyone else.

I agree with you, Jax.

I'm also with jax. Donate it all to a charity Gary would have appreciated.

Let's face it, most of us think this bitch had something to do with his death and even if she didn't, she sure didn't waste any time letting him die - she's the LAST person who should get anything.

What did the will say? Does Utah law not allow you to completely disinherit your wife? You can here, but then you also get everything that you might have contributed to as it being your property and not part of the estate. So she wouldn't get acting residuals, but would probably get the house. Joint bank accounts are already hers. They always go to the survivor.

I think what she is really going after is his SAG pension. He was due to get a good chunk a change a year in a few more years.

Todd Willis estimated his pension to be 200K or so due to how much money he made as a child.

She is a freeloader and freeloaders will do anything for a free buck.

Julianne Moore would do such a great job playing her in the movie version.

According to Utah state law:

You must file a request to have a common law marriage recognized during your relationship, or within one year after the end of your relationship.

Somehow, I wouldn't think you could do that if the other party is dead! She might be saying the relationship ended with his death, but I'm sure his family would jump at the chance to contest that.

Ugh I so hate to see this bitch profit from his death.Even if she didn't kill him she certainly showed that she could care less about him and had no respect for him.

I too agree 100% with Jax, Ms Cool and RocketQueen, however, I think Hell will freeze over before she gives a dime to any charity.

ah, yes, but she would also be responsible for any debts he left behind. i don't think she's thought about that, yet.
and i don't know about the lovely state of utah, but without a will, she's going to have to stick around for about 3 years while the probate court makes sure all his creditors are paid. and there WILL be people popping out of the woodwork.
poor gary. he was only guilty of thinking with his little head.
