Today's Blind Items - To Get On This Show And Stay On This Show You Had To Have Sex

A week or so ago I was talking to someone I have known forever. She is an actress you would all know if you saw her, but might not know her name. She has been acting for 20 years and is probably on her biggest hit right now. Scary show too. Anyway, she started off on a show that was a reincarnation/spin off of a very hit show that used some, but not many of the stars from the first show. She says that if you wanted to be on this new hit show you had to have sex. Constantly. With the producers. If you said no they would just find another woman or guy and slide them in and kick you out. The only people exempt from the requirement were the holdovers from the other show. However, those holdovers were all the biggest abusers of the new talent. The oldest actor was also the creepiest. He loved finding the legal and maybe not quite legal actors and actresses for himself. There were two people who quit rather than have sex with the guy although he supposedly could not stay hard enough to actually consummate the act.

One other actor made his way through over 100 cast members and extras during the run of the show and the actor literally cried when the show was canceled because he knew he would never be able to coerce women like that again. If you go over to his house he will show you tapes of about half the women he had sex with.

There was one B+ actor who is still that today who participated, but only when his girlfriend was not around. When you go through the list of the cast members who were on the show and how many episodes they were in, you can see which ones made the producers happy and which ones were sent packing after just a few episodes.

As for my friend? She stuck it out as long as she could. She had one producer who really liked her and she had sex with him and he protected her from the others. He left though about halfway through the run of the show and she followed him out the door so she would not have to experience the other producers or cast.

Wow. I gotsta have a think now.

EmEyeKay said...

Connie Britton - was she on a spinoff?

MontanaMarriott said...

I think the friend is Connie Britton from American Horror Story and the spin off is Spin City after MJF left the show and they hired Heather Locklear and Charlie Sheen to replace him.

laesmralda said...

Buffy and Angel?

Audrey said...

@ Montana - makes perfect sense! I wonder if Charlie was the oldest actor on the set...

LeeLee said...

What show was Spin City a spin-off of?

If Enty is friends with Connie Britton, that's pretty cool. She's an amazing actress.

Lisa said...

Was the guy that played the mayor on during the whole run of the show? If so, I assume he was the oldest.

MontanaMarriott said...

Barry Bostwick who played the Mayor and Richard Kind were the oldest on the set, I can sooo see Bostwick trying to score with anything that moved. Also Connie Britton left the show in 2000, while the show went on till 2002.

cincinnatikate said...

I was thinking Melrose, spin off from 90210, and Jack Wagner being the oldest. Bree Vandecamp (desperate Housewives)is on the most popular show of her time right?

alyssastinks said...

I was going with Jessica Lange but I know nothing about her career.

califblondy said...

The old guy was Barry something...Bostwick?

spacecowboy78 said...

Yeah, I thought Connie Britton first too, but Spin City wasn't a spinoff and she was on it before Locklear and Sheen. Plus the blind says "legal and not quite legal actors". I don't think there were any minors on Spin City.

Norseman said...

Boston Legal - spinoff of Private Practice? I haven't linked up any of the people clues, tho...

cheesegrater15 said...

Wow.

Himmmmm!! We need you!!

MontanaMarriott said...

Spin City was revamped/reincarnated after MJF announced he had Parkinson's. Sheen and Locklear came onto the show in 99/2000

StewMcG said...

Boston Legal was a spinoff of The Practice (not Private Practice.)

That said, I got nothing on this one.

BigMama said...

I am stumped. I don't want it to be the Buffy/Angel crossover.

milpool said...

I could be way off here, but the first show to pop into my head was Saved by the Bell: The new Class with Screech and Mr. Belding being the people from the original.

CJ said...

@ cincinnatikate

That was my guess, too. This is a tough one, though...

MontanaMarriott said...

Scary shows currently:
American Horror Story
The Walking Dead
True Blood

EmEyeKay said...

I can't think of any other scary shows on tv right now other than AHS!

L said...

If it's Boston Legal, wasn't that a spinoff (or at least a crossover) of Ally McBeal? That would make the older castmember William Shatner.

Tara Green said...

Am I out of touch to think Heather Locklear's name is well-known? The only remake/spin-off I can think of with 2 or more actors from the original show is 90210, but I can't imagine Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth at the forefront of wanting sex from the young cast. Plus it's not scary (maybe the antics of the cast are).

EmEyeKay said...

Enty never said regular TV, so I guess cable shows are on the table, too.

cheesegrater15 said...

True Blood scary? Really?

EmEyeKay said...

Wait - The River is kinda scary - what's the name of that 40-something actress? The wife/mom?

EmEyeKay said...

Leslie Hope. Was Knott's Landing a spinoff?

disenchanted said...

I have been pathetically trying to make Baywatch and Baywatch Nights fit this, but I just can't. Darn it.

SusanB said...

Alcatraz is scary. But hasn't the show in question been cancelled? And no way would I call Spin City scary.

Susan said...

I was thinking more along the lines of 90210 and Melrose, since a lot of the extras were barely legal.

This is juicy.

EmEyeKay said...

Knott's Landing was a spinoff of Dallas.

LeeLee said...

He does call it a "reincarnation/spin off" so Spin City could work here. Were there a few minors on the set? Charlie Sheen definitely seems like someone who would do that too.

NernersHuman said...

I think Knot's Landing has been off the air for more than twenty years though.

bluebell said...

Knott's Landing was a spinoff.

kriss_t said...

Julie Bowen was on Boston Legal...Now in Modern Family (I guess "scary" is really a relative idea - I find Modern Family hilarious ;) She's been around for 20 years.

Knots Landing is a spin off from Dallas, but Leslie Hope has been around since 1981 according to IMDB.

Anonymous said...

OT: Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli are divorcing??!!

IrishPride3317 said...

Golden Girls?

EmEyeKay said...

Leslie Hope was only in six episodes, so, nevermind.

sarochka said...

According to imdb, Connie Britton's earliest TV/film role was in 1995, which is almost 20 years ago. Also, the "spin off" in the blind might be a play on words if the show is indeed Spin City.

I'm going to go with Tammy Taylor/Spin City for the win. I think we've got it, y'all!

Cathy said...

Saved By The Bell is a great guess!

According to IMDB, several New Class actresses could fit:
Natalia Cigliuti (now on The Glades)
Bianca Lawson (now on Pretty Little Liars)
Sarah Lancaster would be perfect, if Chuck hadn't ended (and was scary)

danatestingsite said...

If Julie Benz was still on Dexter (sort of scary) this could TOTALLY be Buffy/Angel. But I don't see how it fits.

EmEyeKay said...

There are so few scary shows...

I can't think anymore.

Basil said...

My first thought was Connie Britton as well. By the, Enty inferred that she is still on it, so hopefully that means she is signed for season 2.

Spin City could be the show. But she also started on Ellen which is a reingcarnation/spin-off of These Friends of Mine, which she was on for only 2 years. Jeremy Piven was also on the show.

Megan said...

Long time reader, first time commenter. I'm thinking Saved by the Bell: The New Class, which fits a lot. Bianca Lawson (who would've been so young and whose face I recognize) was on for the first couple of years then left, and she's now on Pretty Little Liars (I haven't seen it, don't know if it's scary). Acc to Wikipedia the show, which ran 7 years, was full of cast turnover. Dennis Haskins/Belding as the oldest and Dustin Diamond/Screech as the creepy guy who still has tapes (he had a sex tape out so this might be a clue). As for the B+ actor... well, Mario Lopez was on 2 episodes, does that count? Lots of legal and barely legal here too, fits the ~20 year timeframe.

VIPblonde said...

@Cathy I agree, Saved By The Bell: The New Class is the show that pops to mind when I read this. Belding does like young women. I think Bianca Lawson would make the most sense. She did Vampire Diaries, now on Pretty Little Liars. Never seen it; would it be considered scary?

Jennifer H. said...

I would think the reincarnated/spin-off show would have had a lot of random teens on it if the older actor had to "find" which ones were legal or not. I would think it would have been set at a college or a high school. Legal = Boston Legal?

"Spin City" doesn't fit. Not enough young people, if any, and it wasn't a spin-off or a reincarnation. A reincarnation of a show would be a remake. Also American Horror Story is hardly a bigger hit than Spin City.

Cathy said...

@Megan & VIPblonde - I'm a little ashamed to admit it, but I LOVE Pretty Little Liars and there have definitely been some episodes that were creepier than AHS.

krickey said...

Christine Estabrook is the actress, Fraiser is the show

Beth said...

The first person I thought of was Leslie Hope from The River, but I don't think this is her biggest hit. She was on 24.

Jennifer H. said...

From guesses so far, "Saved By the Bell: The New Class" makes the most sense.

Bleu said...

Well, Game of Thrones is kinda scary if you want to put another possible current show in play.

But this just screams Melrose to me. Not only was it a spinoff of 90120, at the time many people said it was the reincarnation of Peyton Place (way before my time).

Percy said...

I'm going with the Saved By The Bell: The New Class theory, myself, though I'm hung up on the "scary" part of the new show...

Kamil said...

I'm pretty sure this isn't one of the Jossverse shows. Those people all still like Joss (mostly)(especially if you take SMG) and I can't imagine that kind of loyalty from women and men who were being sexually abused just out of their teens.

Personally I'm down with the SbtB guess, mostly for lack of a better idea.

Beth said...

Saved by The Bell: The New Class fits, but wouldn't have Enty mentioned that this actress was underage when this went on?

Bianca Lawson would have been 14 during filming, Sarah Lancaster 13, and Natalia Cigliuti 15.

XCentric said...

I'm going with Bianca Lawson for this. She's been acting for at least 20 years. I recognize her face, but wouldn't know her name.

Pretty Little Liars, I don't watch it, but I guess it'd be a scary show.

Dennis Haskins aka Mr. Belding is def the creepy old guy, I've heard rumors. Dustin Diamond is the one with the sex tapes. And Mark-Paul Gosselaar is the still B-list actor 'cause Mario Lopez certainly isn't.

Plus, she was only on Saved by the Bell: The New Class for one season ('93-94).

sinkabella said...

Hey did anyone see Jennie Garth filed for divorce? Blind item anyone??
They released a joint statement saying, "While we have decided to end our marriage, we both share the same deep love and devotion to our children."
BLAH BLAH BLAH

Megan said...

Beth, that's what makes me ill. I think looking at the possibilities SbtB makes the most sense and can actually fit all the clues. And Bianca Lawson fits better than the other women/girls I think. That being said, I really hope I guessed wrong. Fourteen is just so young :( Putting anyone in this awful situation is just plain wrong, but these are underage kids we're talking about. Though the blind does say "maybe not quite legal" so we know that's something that happened here.

Cathy said...

I'm leaning more toward Natalia Cigluiti for the actress, since she was on the show from 93 to 95 and as Beth pointed out, she's also the oldest of the three (was 15 when filming started). I know her face, but wouldn't know her name. I haven't seen The Glades, but it looks like it could be scary.

element said...

Monica Potter was on Boston Legal the first two years it was on - she's been in the business for going on 20 years - on parenthood now, seems like a lot of people would recognize her face but have a hard time with the name.

annabella said...

this is one of the most disturbing things I've ever read about hollywood.

what a bunch of pigs.

element said...

That would make William Shatner the old creepster...

8daysaweek said...

A few ideas-
Connie Britton - Spin City and American Horror Story now.
Laura Leighton - the original Melrose, now on Pretty Little Liars.
Charisma Carpenter - Angel and now on the Lying Game, although I think calling LG a hit would be a stretch.

I'm thinking it wouldn't have been someone underage during filming because (at least I hope) that wouldn't imply an adult producer was "protecting" her.

old ;ady said...

Al the actors on Buffy were really young and it fits for a scary show and the spin off is Angel and the actress he knows is Charisma Carpenter who was on Buffy then for a while on Angel.

Cathy said...

It's the show she's on now that's scary - not the reincarnation/spin-off. It can't be Charisma, since the blind says that any stars that had also been on the first show were exempt from the abuse.

MAC said...

@8daysaweek I was just going to post the Laura Leighton Pretty Little Liars/Melrose connection. I watch Pretty Little Liars (don't judge me) and it is pretty creepy.

cara said...

Got no clue but how about A Different World? Spinoff of Cosby Show. Jasmine Guy (Vampire Diaries). Big cast.

Kelly Simmons said...

Jane what's her name, now on Hot in Cinncinnati, was on Frasier (spin off of Cheers) (-- see, even I didn't know her name.)

The guy who played Frasier's dad could be the older one crying and having trouble with ED.

the words "scary show too" doesn't quite fit unless there is some wordplay going on.

8daysaweek said...

@MAC - no judgement here - I love PLL!

parissucksliterally said...

no guesses, but this is fucking gross.

happygrl said...

I"m going with Leslie Hope for The River. The spin of being Knots Landing.

Audrey said...

No way is the older guy from Frasier crying because he can no longer have sex with young girls. He's gay and out.

Kelly Simmons said...

@Audrey - thanks, didn't know!

dr_bambi said...

The "scary" show that Enty mentions in his description seems to refer to the current show his source is on, not the original show(s) of the blind.

20 years ago would be around 92.

According to IMDB:

Buffy/Angel wasn't on 20 years ago - Buffy started in 97 and Angel started in 1999.

Spin City started in 96.

Saved by the bell started in 89 ran until 93.

Saved by the bell the new class and college years both started in 93.

I think that saved by the bell is the original and one or both of the others are the spinoffs. No idea who the source is.

CJ said...

The blind says the oldest actor went for guys and girls. Anyone remember any rumors about bisexual actors on a spinoff?

Pazitively Hot said...

Melrose Place
Just not sure if it's laura leighton or Marcia Cross.

Melrose Place originally began in 90210 bc someone there was a cousin living with the Walsh's and moved to Melrose Place. Then the show began.

will research

uberbaldy said...

I highly doubt this is anything from Whedon. Being a fan of his and having met and talked with several cast members of his show it's hard to see this going on. Maybe things changed but particularly on "Firefly" I know that there was more of a family vibe. Just look at cast panels from conventions like ComicCon and DragonCon. Granted that's one show and things could have been different on BTVS and Angel but that would be a rather drastic character change.

As for SBTB:TNC I think it fits best. Look over at IMDB's full cast list, that's a LOT of people and the blind does mention one person working their way through over 100 cast members and extras. Also there are a good number of producers listed as well which could match up with the blind's, "protected her from the others" which indicates that there are at least 3 producers involved.

Finally look at SBTB:TNC wiki page and this is listed:
"The show was notable for its cast changes"
Another fit to the blind. If it is this show then it's very creepy.

All that being said. I don't think Bianca or anyone else on the series fits the actress. Neither does Melrose place.

Remember we are looking for someone who was on the show for about half the series AND a producer who was on for half the series. I don't see any producer who fits for Melrose Place and as for SBTB:TNC there are 2 producers who match up with Sarah Lancasters and the Nicole whatshername departures but neither of them are on a show that I would call "scary".

jza1218 said...

Would any of you consider SBTB:TNC a hit show though?

"Anyway, she started off on a show that was a reincarnation/spin off of a very hit show that used some, but not many of the stars from the first show. She says that if you wanted to be on this new hit show you had to have sex."

It seems like he's saying that the spin-off became a hit in it's own right and I don't recall The New Class being anything close to that

jetfuelgenius said...

wow @Pazitively Hot I think you nailed it...if you imdb the cast, you can scroll right down to who only lasted 6 episodes and who did 200+...not sure who the old actor is though...Jack Wagner? Thomas Calabro? I'm still digging...

I was thinking someone on Port Charles, the spin-off of General Hospital

jetfuelgenius said...

PS Melrose dirt: I waited on Jaime Luner once...she was very nice, good tip, seemed kind of stoned in a hippy way, very pretty...and a friend worked on a film with Daphne Zuniga and said she was a horrible bitch.

TheBarberLady said...

It's gotta be the Mom/Wife on The River. She started off on Star Trek Deep Space Nine which was a spinoff of Star Trek The Next Generation (the reincarnation). And the oldest guy on the show does look like a weirdo.

LOLcifer said...

This sounds more like Leslie Hope, who is on The River now, and started on Knots Landing, which was a Dallas spinoff with holdover cast members.

BT123 said...

Didn't check on the producer but Lana Parrilla was on the revamped Spin City and left the series early. She is now on "Once Upon A Time" as the Evil Queen and it at least looks like a scary show from the commercials. She would certainly be recognizable, she's done a ton of episodic tv the last few years. I would guess she's been acting somewhere around twenty years although her IMDB doesn't show much beyond 13 or 14. But everything else fits.

uberbaldy said...

Just to address the Leslie Hope guesses. The blind states she's been acting for 20 years. That seems to entail that this show was probably her first gig. Leslie Hope has been acting for 31 years, She had several roles before Knot's Landing, and Knot's Landing was on 27 years ago. It's knot, couldn't resist, her.

jetfuelgenius said...

Also, Rob Estes was on Melrose Place with his girlfriend (later wife, and later ex-wife)...he could be the B+ actor who took advantage of the new actors when his girlfriend wasn't around...not sure if I'd call him B+ but sometimes I don't get Enty's rating system...I'm with the 90210/Melrose Place guess. The timeline fits too.

temats said...

Melrose Place got its start when Jake came to town, friend of Dylan, and saved the day on Jackie and Mel's wedding by building a bunch of things. Kelley had a crush on Jake, they briefly dates, and violla... melrose place.

8daysaweek said...

Well, Melrose creator Darren Star left as a producer in 1995. He remained the creator through the series entire run. But he's openly gay so that doesn't really fit.

OMG whoever just threw out the mom from SFU that is a horrible thought! She should not have to have sex to have a job! She is too good for that! And agreed AHS may have won an award or two but its far from being in the same league as SFU in terms of a hit.

I like the Melrose guesses personally better than SBTB or Spin City which is not a spin off anyway.

And agreed, there is other scary stuff on TV other than AHS-- Dexter, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, the Killing....

lzahart said...

and props to CDANers who know original Niner well enough to know how Melrose was introduced via Jake @ Jackie & Mel's wedding! Awesome!

Pazitively Hot said...

ok here's what I have so far:

According to IMBD melrose place is legitmately described as "originally a spin-off from Beverly Hills 90210".

Producer GREG BEEMAN produced 8 of 18 episodes (blind says "about" halfway through). He's the only one that produced more than 4 and less than 16.

This producer worked on Melrose Place from Sep '09-April'10. In that time period both DAPHNE ZUNIGA (now on one tree hill) and LAURA LEIGHTON (now on Pretty Little Liars) worked *only* on episodes in this time frame.

-Daphne Zuniga has been acting for 20 years and Laura Leighton for 19 years.
-Laura was already dating her current hubby costar Doug Savant and Daphne wasn't really dating anyone publicly.
-Laura's name is easier to remember and Daphne is def someone I would recognize but stumble for a name.

My FINAL ANSWER ---> DAPHNE ZUNIGA

Athena said...

I'm sticking with SBTB: TNC with Bianca as the source. The original show, not the spin off, was the hit. And it fits the theme of the pedo blinds we've had lately.

I, for one, appreciate these. It's disgusting and shocking but between Enty and Himmmm there's dialogue now instead of silence. Hopefully with increased awareness more will be willing to forward and just maybe there can be change for these poor kids.

Gives me a new perspective on Taylor Momsen for sure. What happened to that little girl to turn her into what she is now?

Cathy said...

But were any of the original 90210 stars on Melrose Place?

Grey said...

I'm personally not buying this as Spin City...

1) Because Connie Britton is no longer on AHS
2) Spin City was a Bill Lawrence show right? Bill Lawrence went on to do Cougar Town and Scrubs....totally does NOT seem like the type of person to allow stuff like this on set.

It's got to be a much seedier show....

spacecowboy78 said...

Spin City wasn't a spinoff or reincarnation anyway. Michael J. fox left. Charlie Sheen and Heather Locklear came. It was still the same show. Happy Days wasn't a reincarnation or a spinoff after Ron Howard left.

cara said...

Enty will probably never reveal this unless his friend gives him permission, which is unlikely.

EmEyeKay said...

@Paz - Melrose was definitely a spinoff of 90210 but only a couple of castmembers crossed over, and wasn't that just in the beginning? I'm talking one or two episodes. The way he worded it makes me think they were regular castmembers, but that could just be my interpretation.

I thought PLL was a Gossip Girl ripoff. If it's scary, I'll have to watch.

uberbaldy said...

@Pazitively I like your research but Enty states that the actress in question "started" on the show in question. Later years of Melrose Place don't fit if the actress started 20 years ago. It has to be someone who either joined the cast of a spin off or started on the cast of a spin off 20 years ago.

Also Diagnosis Murders is a spin off that started about the same time and Dick van Dyke could be the old guy but none of the actresses seem to match.

Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors said...

Add me to the list of people who strongly disagree with the Spin City guesses. Absolutely not.

Mamaroni said...

It can't be Meltdown Place, there were no holdovers from 90210, Grant Show only guest starred on a couple of 90210 episodes. SBTB:TNC fits the best because of the Ollerton of minors involved and looking at the imdb cat is creepy with so many not doing anything after that show

ash said...

daphne zuniga has been acting for way more than 20 years. she was in a bunch of 80s movies including spaceballs (princess vespa!!). so she doesn't fit the elements of "been acting for 20 yrs" and "started off" on the TV show that is the subject of the blind, since she starred in a bunch of movies before she was on melrose. also the blind says she's "on her biggest hit right now" - would one tree hill really be considered a bigger hit than melrose??

spin city and buffy/angel don't work in terms of timing (weren't on 20 yrs ago). (TG bc i really don't want to believe either bill lawrence or joss would let anything remotely like this go down!!)

i agree melrose and SBTB:TNC seem to fit in terms of the type of show - started about 20 yrs ago, spin off of huge hit with large, young rotating cast. but none of the actresses are a great fit.

laura leighton - fits in terms of timing (got her start on melrose about 20 yrs ago and was on it for about half the run) but is pretty little liars really a bigger hit than melrose?
marcia cross - i can buy that desp housewives is "probably her biggest hit" and she was on melrose for about the right amount of time, but she's been acting for more than 20 years and did a bunch of stuff before melrose (including knot's landing), so i don't think it's accurate to say she started off on melrose - though that was probably her first big role.
bianca lawson - wasn't on SBTB:TNC for anywhere near half the run
natalia c - maybe, although is the glades scary?
sarah lancaster - also maybe, but i wouldn't call chuck scary and it's no longer on (tho it did juuust end)

any other early nineties tv shows that would fit?? im blanking....

spacecowboy78 said...

The only thing about SBTB:TNC - who from that show is the still a B+ actor today who participated? Mark Paul Gosselaar was never on TNC.

Pazitively Hot said...

@uberbaldy good point - Laura Leighton was in Melrose Place her first year in acting which would fit "she started off on a show"
makes more sense bc Pretty Little Liars is scarier than One Tree Hill.

MY FINAL FINAL ANSWERS:

Actress --> LAURA LEIGHTON
Producer --> GREG BEEMAN
Oldest Creepy Actor --> THOMAS CALABRO

Actor who score over 100 chicks & cried-->
SHAUN SIPOS
(he's seems the type to both tape it all and cry and he was one few that was still on when show was cancelled)

B+ Actor who participated when girlfriend not around --> MICHAEL RADY Girlfriend --> RACHAEL KEMERY

2 People who quit rather than have sex ---> too many choices to narrow it down.

Pazitively Hot said...

Pretty little liars isn't a scary show. The scariest shows would be American Horror Story or the Walking Dead. Love those 2 shows, but man they freak me out.

As for Connie Britton. She's pretty big. The actress in question is someone who looks familiar, but you don't know her name.

ash said...

@ pasitively hot - isn't michael rady on the new melrose? this blind has got to be about the original melrose since it's about a show that this actress started off on 20 yrs ago.

hmmm @mamaroni, v good point that melrose didn't really have holdovers from 90210, so that's also not a great fit. ack! could this be some other show that no one has thought of yet?

NernersHuman said...

No way is this Spin City. A lot of producers are scumbags but Bill Lawrence is not among them.

Unknown said...

What I don't understand is how such blatant sexual harassment could happen to so many for so long without the producers, the production company, and the network all having been sued into oblivion.

Sure, the actors with most promising careers ahead of them might all have decided that this was a price worth paying.

But out of the 100 victims mentioned, didn't at least several at some point look at the millions of dollars they could likely walk away with from a law suit and realize that that was a ton more money than they were ever going to make acting?

Its easy to find cases where people who were victims in much more subtle ways still walked away with big, big dollars. And those cases are often much weaker than what you'd have here, with blatant quid pro quo harassment happening pretty much out in the open.

It seems like there's plenty of attorneys out there chasing ambulances -- where were they here?

And what's Enty's stand on this? He and his firm make their living off the industry, I get it, although it seems like they could make plenty focusing on just this issue while also providing an important public service?

cosleygurley said...

Laurie Holden (Walking Dead) was in The Magnificent Seven TV Series (with Robert Vaughn). Michael Beihn or Ron Perlman could be the B+ Actor.

Jason Blue Eyes said...

Michael J. Fox was a producer on SC and don't think he would have put up with any of that type of stuff going on. Especially considering he had PD the entire time. I think we can rule that one out.

Frasier was a spin off from Cheers. Family Matters was a spin off from Perfect Strangers. Melrose Place spun off from Beverly Hills 90210,California Dreams was a spin off of Saved By The Bell.

Cuckoo Armadillo said...

@Unknown - My best guess is that any attorney who got contacted regarding a proposed lawsuit of this nature would immediately assess what kind of legal firepower he would come up against and insist on writing a demand letter for hush money instead of filing suit. No doubt the producers, etc. have *much* more powerful attorneys than the victims do. This seems like an instance where the producers would offer money for the victim *not* to file. Everybody gets paid and nobody gets shamed. Money buys silence. Just a guess--I could very well be wrong.

crila16 said...

Yes...Knotts Landing was a spinoff from Dallas.

I didn't either EmEyeKay...but a lot of people do. Also, AHS made her a bigger name. Either way it can't be her anyway, because she's no longer on AHS.

Momster said...

Connie was nominated for an emmy for Friday Night Lights, so she's fairly well known.

For a bit I was thinking Susan Walters as the actress, she's now on Vampire Diaries, but I just couldn't make the rest fit.

Remake/spin off: The New WKRP in Cincinnati

Actress: "Wendy Davis (b. June 30, 1966) is an American actress. She is currently appearing in the hit Lifetime Television series, Army Wives, as Colonel Joan Burton."
(Courtesy of wikipedia)

Old Guy: Gordon Jump

B Lister: French Stewart or Mykelti Williamson

Ominous Note on Wikipedia: "The show underwent many cast changes during its run, and ended in 1993..."

Other Notes: Has some, but not all of the previous cast...and those who returned all seem sleazy as hell. And who can trust Gordon Jump after he tried to rape Arnold on Diff'rent Strokes?

Anyone else think Enty is trying to blow the cover off of the abuse that was/is going on in the tweener sector of Hollywood? Something tells me that we all may be off here and that it could be something more along the lines of "All That" and one of its many spinoffs?

What about Jennifer Love Hewitt?

Old show: Ghost Whisperer
New Show: that one on Lifetime

and she's been around since the early 90s at least

Susan Walters was in Loving... Which was a spinoff of All My Children... Loving had lots of actors who could have been legal and not quite legal. But IMDB says she was only on the pilot. I dunno if this helps support your guess, but that's all I have.

A bit of gossip from Dustin Diamond about SBTB:

Former SAVED BY THE BELL actor DUSTIN DIAMOND has accused TV bosses of paying off a girl who alleged his co-star MARIO LOPEZ date-raped her in 1993.

Diamond, who played geeky Samuel 'Screech' Powers in the hit '90s show, has made a number of shocking revelations about activities behind the scenes of the high school drama in his new memoir Behind The Bell.

In one chapter, titled 'A.C. Makes the Ladies Scream', Diamond claims Lopez was a womaniser who regularly used his fame as character A.C. Slater to take advantage of female fans.

He writes, "(Lopez) hit on every co-star, every extra, every production assistant and every fan he found himself sitting next to."

Lopez was at the centre of a date-rape scandal in 1993, when a teenage girl accused him of luring her back to his house and forcing himself on her.

A police investigation was launched but the TV hunk, who denied the claims, was never arrested and no charges were filed against him.

Diamond alleges the young girl only chose not to press charges after NBC network chiefs paid her $50,000 (£33,330) to "keep her mouth shut".

But the 32 year old insists he was not surprised when the date-rape case came to light, admitting, "He didn't take no for an answer."

Representatives for NBC and Lopez have refused to comment on Diamond's claims.

You're all way wrong.

It's very obviously...

The Love Boat: The Next Wave

No, wait... Get Smart, starring Andy Dick. 7 episodes but I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of Andy Dick sleeping with 100 extras during the course of the shooting.

More seriously, Knots Landing wouldn't fit because this show and Dallas were produced concurrently and had no regular cast in common. You had one guest star in one episode. Everybody watches how the audience reacts to the episode. If it's a hit, the character gets his/her own show. The BI hints that a show had run its course, an attempt was made to make it more in line with the tastes of the day, so they kept a few leads, hired a few new ones and changed the title.

I'm currently browsing a list of spin-off/sequels to old shows on Wikipedia. I'm looking for shows that were canceled then immediately (or almost) followed by a spin-off.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_television_spin-offs

I would dismiss kid shows because there's a rotating cast anyway and the real juicy intel in the blinds would consist of child abuse, not more or less barely legal actors having sex to keep their supporting part.

Grey said...

Ok. I figured it out. It is Bianca Lawson. The show is Saved by the Bell the New Class. Not exactly a hit but it did survive 4 seasons. The two actors are Belding and Screech and the Bianca left the season after Dustin Diamond came back

WHY is It specifically Bianca? Entry is tricking us with his phrasing. She's recognized for the show she is on now (Pretty Little Liars)

The "and a scary one too" means "and a scary one ALSO". Two separate shows

What is the second show? Wikipedia says she guest starred in the American Horror Story pilot as one of the mean girls terrorizing Violet...ding ding

Wikipedia also indicates she has been acting since she was 9. She is 32 now

Ikari Warrior said...

That's interesting about Enty's phrasing with the scary bit. And Bianca was on Buffy, which was a "Scary Show".

But...

The problem with Saved by the Bell theory is the mysterious "B lister". There were no B Listers in that cast.

I still think the show that fits all the clues is the New WKRP in Cincinnati.

Megan said...

I think the B+ lister is confusing if you think he's a cast member, but when you look at what Enty wrote it says "There was one B+ actor who is still that today who participated." Does NOT say he was on the show, only infers that he is connected to the show since he was able to participate in this. Could be someone connected to a cast member, someone who guest starred, a cast member of the show this spun off from, etc. I do think "and a scary one too!" might be a sign towards AHS, good catch Grey!

I was outside a few moments ago and saw this big streak of light, like a searchlight, reflecting off a cloud. It looked like - yes, it was...the HIMMM SIGNAL!! (rushes downstairs to put on thermal underwear and cape). I'm HEEEER!

Okay, sorry. But since you asked, here's some tips to help out. Don't get offended, it's friendly advice:

FOCUS PEOPLE!! C'mon, focus on the clues. Work the problem. Delineate the riddles to be solved and do not get distracted. Such as: NAME OF NEW SHOW (easiest part), then NAME OF OLD SHOW (by comparing actress names). Then you can try to see what fits from that point. I will tell you for certain who/what it is not:

NOT any Joss W. shows. Period. Joss wouldn't offer a woman a compliment without asking permission first.

NOT any daytime Soap Operas. NOT Spin City, Happy Days, Good Times, Fantasy Island or Love Boat (good Lord!lol).

You've already nailed some vital clues: The victims must have been in the teen college or HS age range. Not a lot of those on Father Dowling Mysteries okay? They were on the OLD show (aka SHOW 1).

Show 1 was a SPINOFF or REINCARNATION of a prior HIT SHOW. A reincarnation or spinoff would be something like "Degrassi:The Emo Generation" or similar.

The female star (source of Enty's - just call her SOURCE) is NOW on a scary show today (aka SHOW 2). This same show is HER biggest hit in 20 years.

THEN and only then, when you have a few candidates for SHOW 1 - then you shoudl go back and read the credit list for Producers. See if any names jump out. Then see any "veteran actors" of SHOW 1 known to be pervy creepers (which could be a LOT).

Solve one piece, then the next. I'll stop back by later to see how it's going but I gotta go change a diaper right now!

(Uhhh...not mine, my child's. lol).

@EmEyeKay I love PLL - it has a certain element of camp/fashion/drama reminiscent of Gossip Girl, but it's so so much better. It's a magnificent teenage murder-mystery with a creepy mystery stalker. I'm actually really surprised last night's episode didn't give me nightmares. It's not horror, but there are definitely heart-racing moments in most episodes.

My guess would be Laura Leighton from PLL, original show Melrose Place (from 1992, not the reboot). But I don't know if that fully satisfies the blind since IMDB seems to indicate only a few characters from 90210 appeared on Melrose and only for 1 or 2 episodes in the first season. The other thing tripping me up is the producer. The only one who was there at the beginning and left near the same time as Laura did is Darren Star, who is openly gay. Unless he is or was bi, it doesn't add up entirely...

Jasmine said...

NO clue who this person is in this Blind (though Connie Briton IS a good guess, except Hmmmm just vetoed the Spin City idea).

Totally OT: But please, please, please, there is a difference between "infer" and "imply." Enty did not "infer" anything in his item. He might have "implied" something. We are the ones who draw the inferences from his implications.

Geez. Am I the only one this bothers?

ClaireFrasier said...

ok... based on the College age, HS age ranges... Fame? it was the re-incarnation of the movie, which was a hit. Would that count? Nia Peeples was on Fame, and is now on Pretty Little Liars... (I haven't watched that show, so I don't know how scary it is).

Other high school/college shows: Head of the Class (but I don't think it was a spin off of anther show--if it was, I can't find it).

A Different World, but I don't want it to be this one... Mr. Cosby just would not allow stuff like this!

"Just The 10 of Us" was a spin off of "Growing Pains", but I don't see an actress on there to connect with any scary show...

Current shows that deal with horror: Supernatural, Fringe, American Horror Story, True Blood, The Walking Dead. These are by far the most successful ones. And you'd need to add Dexter to the list if you consider it as scary.

Supernatural has few female characters recurring.
Fringe has Anna Torv (Aussie transplant), Jasika Nicole (too young to fit the clues) and Blair Brown (Molly Dodd, doesn't fit too)
The Walking Dead: Sarah Wayne Callies (never recurred on a TV show that fits the description), Laurie Holden (ditto)
American Horror Story: Connie Britton, Sarah Paulson

I have never watched Dexter or True Blood, so I have no leads for these.

Old Show: Frasier , spin off of Cheers

creepy older actor played Frasier's dad though I thought he was all the way gay

Anonymous said...

Hello everyone. My first time posting here. Sadly I have nothing to add to the mix concerning this bi :( Boo me.

spacecowboy78 said...

I think the subject of this blind was in more than 1 episode of the old show. Christine Estabrook, besides being too old, was in 1 episode.

ClaireFrasier said...

And another problem with Frasier is that there were not a lot of barely legal people there. It wasn't really a high school or college show...

von said...

Christine Eastabrook has been working more than 30 years. It isn't her.

Maybe it is that Saved by the Bell retread. Although, SBTB is itself a spinoff of Good Morning, Miss Biss. Not that this helps anything, other than to add to the confusion.

Only a few shows can be considered "scary": Walking Dead, Fringe, Supernatural and AHS (maybe The River, but I still haven't watched any of them). Vampire Diaries isn't even creepy. True Blood is gross at times but not scary.

New show--scary, hit
Actress--worked for 20 years, first show was a hit, probably somewhere between 16-22 at the time.
Old Show--hit, employed lots of young and potentially underage actors.

So, it has to be a high school show that was a spin-off?

I need to think some more.

Nice to see you help out, Himmmm!

I'm going to go out on a limb with confession time: I'm 33 years old, addicted to cdan and a HUGE Pretty Little Liars fan. I embrace it bc seriously, that show is great, well-written and keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you watch it, you must start at season 1, ep. 1 or you wont follow all the chain of events.

That being said, I have no clue but if someone messed with Hanna (aka Ashley Bensen) I'm peeved. I love her.

That's my ringing endorsement for a show about high school children. And I cannot stand Gossip Girl. Ugh. My taste varies from Game of Thrones to Pretty Little Liars to Mad Men. Diversity at its best. ;-)

Connie Britton:

"She is an actress you would all know if you saw her, but might not know her name. She has been acting for 20 years and is probably on her biggest hit right now."

Not very many people know her name; Friday Night Lights was somewhat of a hit, but American Horror Story was an instant hit for Fox (is it Fox?). Wikipedia says she's been acting for about 20 years.

"Scary show, too." - American Horror Story is plain freaky, y'all.

"reincarnation/spin off" - Everyone's stuck on spin-off, but I think that's Enty's play on words for "Spin City". It is a reincarnation of the original show with most of the original cast.

"However, those holdovers were all the biggest abusers of the new talent. The oldest actor was also the creepiest." - Barry Bostwick, anyone?

There was lots of male actors on that show that can fit the rest of the blind. And I could see Charlie Sheen crying at the end of the series...

I stick with my original guess: original show, 90210, spin off, Melrose Place, Laura Leighton is the actress, Rob Estes is the B+ actor, his girlfriend also on the spin off is Josie whats her name (it's late, I'm drinking Sleepytime tea...) and the new show is Pretty Little Liars...

And omg people, Himmmm is *not* RDJ....I don't buy it... but I totally logged on just to check if he stopped by to clue us in on this blind!!! Thanks Himmmm! ;)

Amy said...

Sorry guys, but there is no way Pretty Little Liars is the "scary show." I watch it, I like it, but it's not scary and I don't think it's marketed as scary. If that's the "scary" show then I give up on blind items.

Well in 1994 nothing on the planet was bigger than MMPR, and it was a non-union Saban show. I was disinvited from future stunt jobs after turning down a date to smoke pot with an older production member.

Original show: "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers"
Spinoff: Power Rangers Zeo
Amy Jo Johnson - now on Flashpoint.
Oldest actor: ?
B+ actor: Doesn't fit

I keep going back to "Head of the Class" because I really believe Enty has an endgame in mind. But that doesn't work either, even with revamping the show with Billy Connolly replacing Howard Hesseman for a season and then spinning off "Billy" in 1992. Sigh.

Scary shows:

Death Valley

Teen Wolf
Alcatraz
Lost Girl
Being Human
Grimm
The Vampire Diaries
The River
The Secret Circle
Terra Nova (cancelled)
Todd and the Book of Evil (Fearnet)
Warehouse 13

Breaking Bad
Dexter
True Blood
Supernatural
The Walking Dead
Fringe

Himmm gave clue for format of old show title (Degrassi: The Emo Generation), so OLD SHOW is Saved By The Bell: The New Class.

Old guy from former show is principal, who preyed on "legal and maybe not quite legal" actors/actresses.

Other slimy actor from former show was Screech/DD, well-known for his sex tapes and definitely can't get that kind of action without a show.

The list of teens in that cast was endless and ever-changing.

Multiple producers, several leaving in the middle.

Sarah Lancaster left halfway through, but can't see how CHUCK would be called a scary show...

First time poster: Lurker since I fell in love with the gossip from Himmm.
My sleuthing has come up with this:
First Show: Saved by the Bell
Spinoff: Saved by the Bell: The new class (lasted 7 seasons)
Scary Show: American Horror Story (pilot ep) and Pretty Little Liars.
Enty's Actress/ source: Bianca Lawson

Bianca Lawson's bio: 2 seasons of SAVED BTB: New class. Born in 1979 so has been around for a while. Dad was on All my Children. Grew up in LA. Has Guest starred in all sorts of shows we watched (recognizable) such as Buffy, Dawson's Creek, Sister Sister, My So Called Life, The Steve Harvey Show.

Actors that were in both Saved by the Bell and The New Class: Dennis Haskins (Principal), Dustin Diamond (Screech), and a revolving door of young actors.

Just in case we're still off track, here's more brainstorming to help jog people's memories.
Sometimes Enty muddies time periods a tad for protection so I looked for other teen casts in mid 90s:

*Clueless (Film adaptation; Rachel Blanchard's first role was on The Kids of Degrassi; and Donald Faison could be TV B+ maybe with Scrubs money? The new iteration of it could be moving it from ABC the first season to UPN for seasons 2 & 3.)

*Sweet Valley High (adaptation)
*Party of Five (Enty shared previous dirt and Matthew Fox could still be B+)
Clarissa Explains it All
*Are You Afraid of the Dark? (Mia Kirshner and Rachel Blanchard on The Vampire Diaries)
Swans Crossing
Class of 95
Malibu Shores
*Sabrina the Teenage Witch/spin off= Teen Angel
7th Heaven (oh WOW!)

Peter Engel shows: SBTB, SBTB:TNC, City Guys, USA High, Hang Time, California Dreams.
