Brad Pitt's Mom Hates Gay People

So, what do you do if you are one of the biggest celebrities in the world and are very pro gay marriage and your girlfriend, and mother of many of your children is also one of the biggest stars on the planet and is bisexual and your mom writes an open letter denouncing gay marriage and gays in general. Well, if you are Brad Pitt you say, "She's very, very loving -- very open, genuine, and it's hilarious because she always gets painted in the tabloids as a she-devil. There's not an ounce of malice in her. She wants everyone to be happy."

But, it turns out that is not the case. Here is her letter in its entirety which was first published in the St. Louis News-Leader.

I have given much thought to Richard Stoecker’s letter (“Vote for Mormon against beliefs,” June 15). I am also a Christian and differ with the Mormon religion.

But I think any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon.

Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney’s opponent, Barack Hussein Obama — a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage.

I hope all Christians give their vote prayerful consideration because voting is a sacred privilege and a serious responsibility.

Here here @Turkish Taffy! We're electing a president, not a pope. Both history and current events are littered with examples of how far out of hand things become when a Theocracy rules.

Actually, history is littered with examples of godless societies such as Stalin's Russia and Mao's China killing tens of millions.

By the way, I'd love to see a Venn diagram of the people who pretend they believe that we shouldn't tell other people how to live with support of Obamacare, smoking bans, and all this 1st lady obesity bullshit.

That would be fun, wouldn't it?

jay, there doesnt need to be any "persuasive arguement" in favor of gay marriage. Thats the point. It just is, its not for anyone to argue about it. It doenst have to be defended or explained.
And ie re stalin and mao, may I remind you of the crusades and the spanish inqusition, both caused by others shoving their religion down other peoples throats.
Its trying to make everyone live the same way that causes problems.

That's really a key point, isn't it Jay? Some people may SAY that they are against the idea of telling other people how to live their lives. But they get around it rather handily by claiming "I'm not telling you how to live YOUR life: I'm disallowing your behavior because it affects MY life" (i.e. "everyone" alledgedly winding up paying because of American obesity, "everyone" alledgedly having to foot the bill for uninsured persons, fears about second-hand smoke, very broad interpretations of what is hate speech, etc etc). A neat little trick, that. Cuz when it comes right down to it, one can technically (though not legitimately/plausibly) make the argument that everything affects everything. Everything goes when it's the law that everyone has to receive satisfaction. "You have the right to free speech, but NOT when your 'hate speech' violates my human rights". Great. Free speech, conveniently nipped in the bud. Hell, just by advocating Constitutionality, or disagreeing with the President, or being against abortion, or being against not homosexuality but just same-sex marriage, a lot of people wind up being pigeon-holed as being "Teabaggers" or "Repugnicans" or illiterate racist inbreeds. Now THAT is prejudice, folks...

IRONY ALERT!!! IRONY ALERT!!!

But thats just it!! No one is telling YOU to be in a same sex relationship. So why are u telling same sex people they cant hv their relationship? When u try to pass laws prohibiting something, you ARE pushing your ideas down their throat. Dont you get that? As for verbal hatred, let your conscience be your guide.
And encouraging people to eat healthy is wrong??!!

There's so much for me to address in your last response that it's just pointless to go on at this point. Let's just end this discussion (if it can even be called a discussion). Believe what you want to believe, and I'll do the same, and history will decide who had the better handle on things...

auntliddy said...

Ok then. As long as your admitting you're wrong. Kidding!!!!!!!! Lololol

Hahaha...my amusement at your last response has somewhat overridden my exasperation. Have a good day :)

I'm actually from (born and raised) Springfield, MO. I went to the same highschool as Brad and my grandparents live in the same neighborhood as Brad's parents. Being Liberal myself, I moved away following graduation from college. However, most down there are married, have kids, divorced, and remarried by the time they are 22. People need to let this go. The people of that area live in a close-minded bubble, and get their education from the Bible and word-of-mouth. Before people get so upset, they need to take the letter for what it is worth... The opinion of an old, conservative woman living in the heart of the Ozarks.

^^^Wait. "...most down there are married, have kids, divorced, and remarried by the time they are 22. ...The people of that area...get their education from the Bible and word-of-mouth." Huh, if only there were some bible guidance about divorce like there is about homosexuality. Oh, there is? If only the same people believed that too.

As to no pervasive argument for gay marriage, there is also no persuasive argument that makes it make sense to deny law-abiding citizens who contribute to societal welfare with taxes like everyone else the same social and societal rights and priviliges as everyone else. Why would the government have reason to care if married entity filling out tax forms is two men, two women or one of each?

@Jay, Stalinist Russia etc. was a savage dictatorship that forced the hands of the majority they ruled over. It wasn't a religion where both the leadership and general population were complicit in the brutality they inflicted, and in God's name no less.

On the contrary, B. Profane, I HAVE actually looked for the figures you quoted, and have been unable to find them. I even quoted you some figures from an ABC News poll. I also looked at a Gallup poll, a Washington Post poll, and the Pew Research Center's poll, among others. Nowhere did I find a 25% figure quoted. Also, since you refuse to actually cite an independent poll, I can only conclude that you are pulling that figure out of your ass. Oh, and thanks for calling me a "crabby old bitch," too, just because I disagree with you. I love the tolerance you showed there! I'd rather be a crabby old bitch than a stupid twatwaffle like you, BTW. See? I can call people names, too! Aren't I cool?

Liddy, I sincerely doubt that you were full of respect for Bush when he was president. I also doubt that you "just sucked it up" when he was president. Something tells me you were probably one of those people comparing his face to a chimp's, calling him "Hitler," making fun of him, and various and sundry other things. How is my refusing to grab my ankles for Obama hurting him or this country? It doesn't. You just want to silence any opposition, and the best way to do that is to attack people who disagree with you, labelling them subversive or un-American or unpatriotic. People like you, Profane, Barton, etc. LOVE to tell other people how to think, feel, and believe while pretending to be open-minded. In actuality, the most judgmental, close-minded, intolerant people I have ever met have tended to be liberals.

I most assuredly never compared bush to a chimp or hitler!!!!! What i wrote was true; I had ti suck it up while bush was pres; and was respectful, the same way i would hv to be if romney get elected. You are misunderstanding what people are trying to say; we believe in live and let live. For example, im not a fan of guns or hunting for sport, but if thats your thing, knock yourself out. So if u arent gay or dont like gay marriage, dont do it. Peace

auntliddy said...

I stll dont know where u got that chimp or hitler thing!!!!! Weird!!

auntliddy said...

And im not pretending; i really dont care what other people do! Why wld anyone? Everyone free to think what they want, i certainly dont expect to like everything everyone does, and i may not, but it really isnt my concern. Please extend me the same courtesy.

Ok, here's a little thought experiment along the line of the "legalize incestuous marriage" subject brought up by Joanie RaX a couple of days ago (and for the denser of you folks out there, no, I'm not COMPARING incest to homosexuality or saying that homosexuals are incestuous): okay, so let's say that at some point in the near future, there actually IS a push to legalize consenting-adult incestuous marriage (the legalization of over-18 brothers marrying their over-18 sisters, over 18 daughters could marry their divorced or widowed fathers, over-18 sons could marry their divorced or widowed mom, etc etc). Now when Joanie RaX made her comment, at least ONE person here said that she was AGAINST incest, and stated that it is "rarely consentual or healthy", even though the hypothetical examples would only take place between persons who are, by legal definition, adults (over-18 males and females). I guess my point with all this would be a question: IF consenting-adult incestuous marriage were legalized, don't you agree that there would probably be many many many rational, well-meaning, genuinely concerned people who would be AGAINST such a type of marriage? Of course there would be, and for many different reasons. But the FIRST and BEST reason that comes to mind is that legalized consenting-adult incestuous marriage would, by its very existence, change the way that brothers and sisters think about one another and relate to one another, from a very young age and up through their entire lives. It would also change the way children think about their parents, and vice versa. It would, in all honestly, change the very idea of family, and what "family" is all about. Even for people who would never ever choose to marry a close relation (brother, sister, mom, dad) it would still change what is it for them to be brother or sister or mother or father. NOW let's add to the thought experiment: what if there were television shows starting to crop up which featured story lines involving sibs "getting it on"? And fathers screwing their adult daughters and mothers screwing their adult sons in a very "thumbs up" and titillating "Sex in the City" or "Three's Company" or "How I Met Your Mother" way? And what if there were movies (sympathetic ones, pro-incest ones, "incest-positive" ones) about it, and the subject started getting portrayed in a very "I'm Okay, You're Okay" way in school textbooks and as the subject of sexy pop songs on top 40 radio? What if people started saying that incestuous desires weren't a choice but that incestophiles were "Born That Way"? And what if people who argued in favor of incest pointed out that the animal kingdom is rife with incestuous behavior. What if, eventually, after all this, there were polls taken, showing that 50% OF AMERICANS SUPPORT CONSENTING-ADULT INCESTUOUS MARRIAGE. Is it possible for 50% of America to be wrong about something? 75%? Is it possible for 100% of America to be wrong about something? I'd say yes. Just because EVERYONE is in favor of something doesn't mean it's right, or good, or wholesome. People often want what is bad for them. Plato (in Gorgias) had a lot to say about that particular subject, about how even very smart people sometimes don't actually know what's good for them. Wrongdoing results not from evil but from ignorance. And it is ignorance of the ultimate ramifications of certain concepts that get us in a collective bind. All of this is, for me at least, why I think same-sex marriage is a bad idea. It changes what marriage IS, into something it was never meant to be. Call it something else and I'm okay with it. But same-gender "marriage" is a contradiction in terms, a chimera. It does not exist and, IMO, should not exist.

For one thing, a homosexual relationship is btwn NON relatd people. Apples and oranges.
But i eill say this: from your eloquent and well thought out scenario, i UNDERSTAND why you, and others against gay marriage, are so passionate about it. You see it as a destruction if a fabric of life u hv been accustomed to all your life. I cant assure this will
not be the case; as u say, history, as always, will be the judge. It does seem like same sex marriages will be as normal and accepted as any other couple. It WILL change family defininition. I think it will be okay. You do not. Lets hope we both live long enough to how this plays out.
Altho incest is practiced in many cultures for a variety of reasons, I could never be okay with it as any sort of way of life. Lets hope it never catches on here. So i do hv my own taboos, lol
