Blind Item #2

Producers of this very very hit television show are extremely worried. Their A list star needs rehab desperately but they really want to finish shooting the show for this season first. When the actor shows up for work they try and get as much finished as they can as quickly as they can and have even made alternative scripts in case the actor does not make it through shooting before heading for rehab. I can't imagine how they would be able to write out his character. It is his show.

I suck at blinds and even i guessed it was mr sheen..glorified junkie.
Atleast he has a sense of humour about himself i guess

Charlie makes sense, but is Anger Management a "very very hit show"?

That's a very very hit show? Ehhhh...

Cathy said...

I was thinking maybe Dexter?

Would it even be blind if it were Charlie Sheen?

Lurky Loo said...

Mad Men? Can't imagine it without Jon Hamm.

Jolene Jolene said...

Mad Men is shooting season 6 right now. Jon Hamm? He does like to drink, but I've seen photos of him on the set and he seems pretty together. Oh I don't know.

chigirl said...

I agree - Anger Management doesn't seem very hit to me.

What about Matthew Perry's new show? Go on?

hotchacha said...

My first thought was the Hammbone, but Dexter seems more likely.

When I read these blinds, my first thought is always Thomas Jane, but does he have a hit show? Something about him screams Active Drug-user for Life.

Sorry, y'all, but I read this as "Homeland" and Damain Lewis. Hope not, though.

nice that everyone is so concerned about what's really important. wonder if he wants to go/has agreed to go. can't imagine working on a project in an office and having the boss say that the project lead really needs rehab, but we'll be finishing the assignment before that can happen.

Anger Management ratings for a non-network TV show put it in the hit list. Plus FX has committed to 90 more episodes to bring it to the magical 100 needed for syndication.

While the numbers are low for network tv, it ratings are high for cable and even more importantly every viewer is in the coveted 18-45 age for advertising dollars.

It is considered a huge hit for the network and the highest rated comedy not on network tv.

I can't stand the show.

Jason said...

Anger Management may not be "very very hit" but it's already guaranteed 100 episodes (at least), and has already had its syndication rights sold worldwide. It's going to be in front of a lot of eyeballs.

Plus, I can't think of another show where the show truly belongs to the A-list lead actor who has a pretty serious substance abuse problem that may preclude him from even showing up for work.

I agree with the Jon Hamm guess that he has been boozing alot it seems. But it's not completely his show. he could go to a deserted island for a month and the show could continue. Anger Management on the other hand can't. Sheen FTW.

FSP, I did not have to read further:)

annabella said...

there is no way this is damien lewis. number one, he has no reputation for being a boozer or druggie.

second, that show is so complicated and intricate that they couldn't rewrite scenes according to whether or not he is intoxicated.

third, that guess was just dumb.

so, what one needs to be looking for is a show that is kind of stupid and silly that would appeal to the lowest common denominator. because its only that kind of show where the scenes can be rewritten according to the intoxication level of the star.

so, my guess is anger management. never saw it, but I'm sure it fits the stupid enough to be rewritten requirement. and, charlie sheen obviously, has addiction problems.

that said, whoever hired him deserves what they got. in addition to all of his drug abuse, he is also abusive to women. so, you lay with dogs....

I don't know if it's a 'very hit' show, but what about Elementary, star: Jonny Lee Miller? (It is 'his'--Sherlock Holmes'--show.)

shopgirl said...

I thought the guy on Hawaii 5-0 needed to go to rehab but left early to do the show last season. maybe it's him (but I don't think he's A-list since I can't remember his name!)

Unknown said...

Not Olyphant, isn't he one of the producers?

Don't think Damian Lewis would be considered A list; nor Johnny Lee Miller.

JSierra said...

OT but FSP what the f is up with your avi? Pepper gives me the creepy crawlies but I'm glad to see another Horror Story fan on here!

Lauren said...

I dont' think it's Charlie Sheen. Given his history I think they could announce a show hiatus for him to go to rehab and no one would be surprised.

But then again I can't seem to match an A list actor who has a very very hit television show that revolves around him.

Bunni said...

It's not Michael C. Hall, he's got cancer. I doubt he's going to turn into a junkie. Sheen is back to smoking crack, spending $2000 a day. It's him.

ReallyDonna said...

Annabella--wow you really just said my guess was "dumb"? Don't know how long you have been around, but kindergarten name calling has never been a thing here...might want to go back to radar or what have you.

If you actually read the clue you would see why I guessed the way I did. Guess you don't really play the game well. You guessed AM--but admit you have never seen it! BWAH!

mooshki said...

Donna, welcome to the new CDaN. It's all kindergarten all the time.

Lurky Loo said...

@CarmelitaLady,

I don't know about that. Mad Men does have a fine ensemble cast and they are all strong players. The producers could conceivably write the Don Draper character out of maybe one episode and I think still that would be tough to do that. Besides the writing of the blind makes me think it is a show with lots of filmiing ahead. With its irregular season, Mad Men could fit this. Most other shows on TV probably are close to having their filming wrapped up for the season.

Could be Charlie Sheen but why even bother making that a blind?

Kathleen said...

Saw photos yesterday of John Hamm walking around in public in an obvious state of intoxication, so maybe him?

Maybe Enty is fudging the timeline... I was thinking this blind fits perfectly with Michael Pitt and Boardwalk Empire. It was such a shock when they killed him off!

Silly Girl said...

Don't think it's Castle. I have a friend who knows him and it's SO not in his character (his own, not the one he plays on TV) to do this.
I think it's Matthew Perry. Very very hit show is relative, but he's a known rehabber and the show definitely revolves around him. Sad if it's him, though, LOVE HIM.

BKiddo- you read my mind! They wrote him out in a pretty abrupt way... Especially considering the way that the rest of the storyline is going, it felt like an odd choice. I'm on board with Michael Pitt. Plus, boardwalk is a Very Very hit show!

PotPourri said...

Alex O'L from Hawaii 5-0 just had a baby this past week. He's looking good in the show too, so I think he's ok.

Sheen is my guess, but I'm always gonna love the trainwrecking Warlock.

Sherlock Holmes isn't a show without Sherlock Holmes.

poovey-tunt said...

I would actually be very intrigued by a Don Draper-free Mad Men. I like Don just fine, but I've always been in it for the ladies, personally.

I'm willing to bet Weiner could make it work.

CraftyGirl said...

Since this is a blind item and I am too lazy to google what shows are in production right now...I'm throwing out another name:

Danny Devito/Always Sunny...?

NomNom83 said...

"It is his show"

Few people can lay claim to that description. More than just the star, there is no story without him.

- Anger Mgmt/Sheen (the obvious choice)

- Breaking Bad/Bryan Cranston (I don't like him for this)

- Louie/Louis C.K. (a number of reasons why this absolutely can't be him, but including him b/c few others in the industry have the control he gets on Louie)

- Mad Men/Jon Hamm (hmmm... there are plenty of other stories and characters to showcase for a few eps if he has to get sober, but I would think that a drinking problem would have gotten out by now)

Angela said...

The writing on Mad Men is very tight, and there's no room for last minute changes about the lead character. Plus, Hamm doesn't have a history with being late or drunk on set.

Charlie Sheen is the obvious pick and production for Anger Management resumed in late September, for broadcast starting January.

A network hit show would wrap a season by April, until it's in its first season or two, as they tend to order 13 episodes instead of the full 22. And NBC just ordered a full season of Go On.

Mary Ann said...

I think this is Charlie Sheen.

I don't think it's Jon Hamm/Mad Men because that's such an ensemble show it wouldn't be called "his" show.

I don't think it's Damian Lewis/Homeland because, honestly, I don't think his character is going to survive this season and it's at least as much Claire Danes' show as his.

I don't think it's Bryan Cranston/Breaking Bad because this is the last season and I think they've already finished primary shooting. I could be wrong on that. The blind reads as though it's an ongoing series, however.

So yeah, I think this is Charlie Sheen. Such a waste.

Nadine said...

Homeland's finished filming its second season already so that wouldn't be it.

Elissa said...

I do NOT want this to be Matthew Perry! I am stunned by how much I love Go On, and find I really like having a show that can make me both cry and laugh my ass off in the same episode.
That said, Perry's looking REALLY bad, and I've read some gossip about him possibly relapsing. So, yeah, this could totally be him.

James caan son on Hawaii 5-0

Basil said...

I would say Charlie Sheen as well, but despite his 2 1/2 Men feud, from what I understand he was professional at work. And doesn't he also think he doesn't need rehab and can quit whenever he wants?

ReallyDonna said...

Thank you Mooshkie and gossip:)

Someone said Perry. It is his show. Pulling in good ratings. He's struggled with addiction. He was a fill-in guest (for Carrie Fisher) last Wed. He acted a little off. Seems like Sheen. Perry fits too.

Homeland and Mandy Patakin. The guy has some serious issues right now.

Entry did a blind about it a while back.

Margaux said...

Jonathan Rhys Meyers?

Mandy Patakin? He's not the lead of the show and you could probably replace with him with Bill Hader and you would get by - you'd notice the difference but he would be so good that you wouldn't mind. What issues does he have anyway? I like Saul.

Margaux said...

OMG I just found out he is Inigo Montoya.

HalleGoLightly said...

@ George Glass

I saw Perry that night on Ferguson. He wasn't weird, but something did seem off.

Anna said...

Dennis Quaid and "Vegas"? I think the co-stars (The cute "Life on Mars" actor and M. Chiklis, who is great on the show) could carry on without him, though. Maybe Quaid could be shot, hospitalized, go through therapy while his son takes over as the sheriff. Then when dad comes back, a father-son power struggle.

Anna said...

You realize I meant Quaid's character shot on screen as part of the plot, right? I just remembered that Randy Quaid might read this, think someone is out to get his family again. I'm willing to believe Quaid about sinister conspiracies, just not that the conspiracy would care about Randy Quaid.
