Blind Items Revealed

December 12, 2012

This back in the day almost A list television and movie actor and now lucky to be on a network show again and making money until the show gets canceled because of low ratings, really thinks highly of himself. Everyone thought he had learned his lesson after his career skyrocketed and he was a teenage heartthrob. No amount of women were too much and the trail he left behind him is almost Wilmer Valderrama worthy. He hit rock bottom after his show was canceled and his attitude cost him roles. No one wanted to work with a spoiled actor when there are a bunch of others out there who are nice and cheaper and better actors. So, when he finally got his chance to work again, everyone thought he would be humbled. Umm, no. In fact, he is probably worse despite being married and having a family to raise. He thinks it is only natural that people hired him and that they had all been wrong to not hire him and he thinks he is worth way more than he actually is. Just because you are on a show and invited to a red carpet does not make you the biggest thing ever. He would disagree. Recently he had a chance to have a great endorsement for his career. His manager loved it. Everyone loved it. The company loved it and offered him a significant amount of money. Our actor turned it down and asked for 250% more than was offered. The company laughed and walked away and gave the endorsement to another actor who was grateful and who stands to make a ton of money off other endorsements in the future. So, our actor has nothing, but he thinks its fine. It won't be when his show is canceled and he has all those mouths to feed. Tough to feed a family on hot air.

James Van Der Beek

I think Enty has confused his role on Don't Trust the B with the real person.

janele said...

I'm curious what endorsement he turned down.

g.strathmore said...

I guess there's a lot of ego behind that giant forehead.

Christopher Cruz said...

Oh Dawson- I should've known that appearing in a Kesha video meant you were a complete moron.

timebob said...

he's already signed on to another show. But he was relegated to lifetime movies for awhile.

I still can't get past his Frankenstein monster forehead

msgirl said...

I wonder who the other actor is?

tara17 said...

Don't Trust the B was a fun show. JVDB was also a riot on it. Oh well. Curious about the endorsement deal...

VIPblonde said...

Man, I miss Don't Trust the B!!! Fake JVDB was the best!

Basil said...

Actors getting a swollen head is nothing new. But I am curious about who the other actor was.

Jeneral said...

This is disappointing for us Dawson's Creek fans.

plokzy said...

The Beek?? Really??!?

Katie said...

So it was pretty much real life on himym.

Pink_Palace said...

I wish I was still a Blind Item "innocent," and believed all the blinds did have a real answer. They are still fun to guess at, but so many of these "reveals" are full of crap!!

I apologize if this comes out wrong because I am not meaning to bust on the site or readers as it is not mean spirited. It almost feels like I just realized that meeting my prince charming and living happily ever after dream - is truly just a fairytale...lol :-(

I am friends w/his brother. This is a close knit family. While Dawson may make some rash decisions, he is well-grounded.

As someone stated earlier, this BI got mixed up w/characters he portrays, not the actual guy. Sorry, don't want to see his character assasinated!

Izzie said...

I think the Beek was the general guess for it - was the show cancelled? Boo, it was funny!!

timebob said...

@Pink since you are referring to James as Dawson, you too might be mixing up reality and fantasy. Just saying..

Everybody gets butt hurt when a blind item reveals a person you may be a fan of or have some knowledge of. don't worry you are not alone in crying foul over them.

Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors said...

Pink Palace, while I appreciate your perspective, I really do, one's relationship with one's family doesn't necessarily reflect how one conducts himself in business. I went to a business meeting with a family member once as a young teen, and holy shit, were my eyes opened. I can see where he's exactly as you describe and at the same time, exactly as ENTy describes. I don't think they are mutually exclusive.

OneGirlRevolution said...

I was just coming to say what LMSaM said. It's like the guy who slaps his wife around in private and everyone who knows him thinks he's a fabulous guy and the wife is a lucky lady.

People put on different faces to different people all of the time.

Robert said...

@Basil: If THAT head swells, watch out!

timebob said...

in my job we have had a few actors come in as temps over the years. Ive seen the mask drop on a few of them. One had a tantrum because he couldn't leave for an audition. But then acted as charming as could be in a finger snap.

So, yeah, what you saw and what is can be very, very different.

Anonymous said...

I worked with him on a recent theater project and the whole team loved him. Super nice guy. I think these are fun, but 90% are made up.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure your experience as a 14 year old in a business meeting trumps all.

Anonymous said...

I've sai this before, but.... Hollywood (and the celeb world) is A LOT like junior high. People love to gossip. And just like junior high only a small peerage of that gossip is baed in reality. If you are on this site thinking every blind is 100% true then step back, take a deep breath, realize most of this is idle gossip and most of the people here are just having a little fun. It's a great way take your mind off things. Those with hard jobs, sick kids, sick parents, or just whining neighbors enjoy a little break once in a while without taking it too seriously. :)

Kelly said...

Damn I miss Don't Trust the B. That show was hysterical to me. :(

Kloie said...

I think he's funny, personally. I like the douche act/persona. I was always more of a Pacey girl, though.

EmEyeKay said...

Be nice to James, remember, he's my family! Those mouths Enty's talking about are important to me! (And they slept in my bedroom at my dad's house over Thanksgiving.)

Anonymous said...

Right. And all the folks who are so comfortable calling total strangers ( sorry, "actors" and "celebrities") child molesters,, serial cheaters or just bad people based on their savvy intuition and a subscription to Us Magazine are ok.

I read this site for entertainment, but it bothers me that anyone who injects the slightest note of reality based insight is immediately and roundly attacked. Have your fun, but remember, this site is about as real as most of the boobs in Beverly Hills.

Homer said...

Nothing about Hollywood surprises me anymore, but Dawson will always have a special place in my heart so this gives me the sads.

I totally agree- but it's a weird dynamic. It's like, don't interrupt us from attacking and defaming people we've never met! That bums me out.

as the great Jax said (paraphrasing)

WWWWWAAHHHHHHH see you guys in here tomorrow!

Pink_Palace said...

I have never been a fan of his, never watched the show, but even Joshua Jackson is Pacey to many.

I know he dumped his first wife and started a family w/his new wife in a reckless manner - to say the least.

He is not the apple of his family's eye, but he is a good guy.

I don't work in the industry - though I used to. I do have a number of good friends who are in the industry and I see a number of famous faces every day. I am by far from Kneepads in my assessment of people, but this BI is BS!!

OneGirlRevolution said...

I find it hard to believe that pointing out that people can behave differently in different situations is attacking anyone.

Just because you know how someone acts in one setting doesn't mean that you have a clue how they act otherwise. That is a truism whether or not this reveal has any validity or not.

LottaColada said...

I'm just going to copy & paste my comment from the original thread:

I really want to know what the endorsement is! Does anyone have guesses for that?

VIPblonde said...

So when is FFS happening?

The Real Dragon said...

The endorsement was to sleep with Dragon.

librariantobe said...

@Pink Palace, if it makes you feel any better, I have my doubts about this one as well only because he constantly made fun of himself on Don't Trust the B. If he really were such a diva, I doubt he would've agreed to do that type of role but that's just my opinion. Anyway, who knows? *shrug*

AKM said...

I AM surprised, and I don't quite believe this. He is SO self-deprecating on "DTTB" that he couldn't POSSIBLY be that arrogant for real, could he?!

Crap, did "DTTB" get cancelled officially?! This happens to me all the time!

g.strathmore said...

It's hilarious how upset people are about Enty thinking badly of James Van Der Beek. It's so random.

Izzie said...

According to wiki:

ABC announced in January 2013 that it was removing Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 from its schedule immediately. The next day, the cast of the show confirmed its cancellation. Eight episodes were left unaired.

GRR! ARGH!

And the reality crap is still on the air!

Double GRR! Double ARGH!

CrazyCatLady said...

^^^^That's funny!

CrazyCatLady said...

As a former ad person, I'll venture to say that Nielsen households aren't exactly diverse which is what keeps the ratings high for the reality crap. Plus 18-34 (or 18-24) is the desirable age range for advertisers...again an age group that's short on attention span and diversity for Nielsen.

CatB said...

I think this is true , in the Dawson's Creek days he was often known to be hard to write for and always complained about the script , and made the writers change it constantly , the producers would call it getting beeked, they sounded like they had a definte bee in there bonnets about it ,i think he thought the better material was given to Katie and Josh , Katie was the main star of that show , she starred in every episode even though he was the title character .

Flora Goforth said...

Pink,

Just because someone's family sees them one way and their business associates see them another way does not mean both parties are wrong.

Maybe he did not care for the endorsement and asked for a ridiculous amount. His business people thought he was being arrogant to turn down any money at this point so they spread this stupid story.

Just means he should find new management. Maybe some people who are more aligned with his interests and won't throw him under the bus for their percentage.

jane3113 said...

Unrelated, but Van Der Beek was awesome when he hosted SNL during the Creek era. His episode was fantastic.

ablake said...

Off the top of my head I can only think of 2 celebs doing voiceovers right now. Julia Roberts is doing something for an insurance company and Christian Slater is doing something for cars.

Betcha it was Christian Slater (If this is true)

Robert said...

Last time I checked, no one ever said actors have to be bright.

ElRod said...

This one surprised me because "back in the day" made me think it was someone much older... I watched the creek when I was a teen so this just gives me the "aging" sads :(

CF98 said...

I can believe this but not sure if its actually true. I don't doubt actors have egos etc but he played a self deprecating version of himself that I find it hard to believe he would have an ego now.

Then again you never know.

And Pacey/Joey 4 EVA!

Anon said...

You too!!! That's all I ever saw.Fool looks like a Muppet.Never understood his appeal with the ladies or if they found him appealing to begin with.

CF98 said...

Yeah the ladies comment threw me off I never saw JVDB has a heartthrob at all.

I think he looks better now than during the DC years.

Anon said...

E-vil ,just E-V-I-L.

OKay said...

There is NO WAY that any revealed blind can be a lie. "Enty" would automatically be guilty of libel if it were.

Laura said...

I bet it was an Old Navy Ad, and it went to the 90210 cast.

Kloie said...

John Krasinski does voiceovers for everything, @Ablake.

ablake said...

I have no idea who that is @Kloie. Then again I don't watch much network TV.

I could see this happening though, if say (and I'm guessing) standard SAG rate for a voiceover is 100g and he turned around and said "I won't do it for less than 350g" there ya go. I don't know about the rest (him being a diva) but I never got into Dawson's Creek (again, not much for network TV). I did like him in that blink and you missed it legal show he was on (TNT,I think?) It was either him or the kid from Saved by the Bell, played a lawyer. I get those 2 confused.

Silly Girl said...

I don't believe this one to be true. I LOVE Christian Slater to bits, but I really think it's him. Fits SO much better than JVDB. Interestingly, CS just got engaged, so that 'all those mouths to feed' just got a little bigger. JVDB probably has crap loads of money from Dawson's and his other stuff. Not a huge fan of his, but still don't think he fits this one. He's ALWAYS made fun of himself.

This, is the true version of my life's history. My ex was a bipolar alcoholic, who deep down, actually hates women. He stalked me and beat me and psychologically terrorized me for 15 yrs. The things that really happened would immediately make most ppl say, "Uh, right, that's too crazy, I dont believe you." My ex would do handyman and carpentry jobs for older couples, old women alone, young widows struggling, etc, in our community. When I finally had enough protection that I felt safe to file for divorce,

Unknown said...

Sorry, my comment got cut off! Anyway, I had people I've known 30 yrs, and even family, ostracize me for daring to say such a wonderful person was so evil that he drove me into the woods and beat me and raped me. No, no way! He's wonderfullllll! Now, not saying JVDB is that bad, just saying, many people have hidden sides that they only show certain ppl.

Izzie had to delete her comment because Christian Slater is not on that show. But he was hot back in the day and Izzie agrees with you, Silly Girl. :b

Silly Girl said...

@Izzie, he was on a show that just got cancelled. Don't remember the name and never saw it (we don't watch much TV now), but it came and went quickly. He's still AWESOME in my book, but I hear he's a jerk IRL. Remember when he groped that woman on the streets of NYC? Yea, big douche. I'd still hit it though. ;)
PS. My 20th anniversary edition of Heathers is coming in the mail Monday!

ablake said...

Silly Girl, was CS ever on a hit network show? He's my go-to crush (though I lnow he's probably a jerk irl) but I simply love Heathers, a box of wine and some chocolate on a rainy day :)
If he was on a HIT show I missed it. I tried to watch that stuff he was on a couple of years ago but it was just awful :(

He's my guess of the actor who took the commercial, not the one who turned it down.

ablake said...

..and bri, I'm so glad for you that you got out of that!

CatB said...

Either this is a made up blind , or it is true why would entry reveal it to be JVDB if it was really about CS? It's either JVDB or no one at all as its made up.

Anonymous said...

No. No way I buy this. JVDB as a teen heartthrob? That's just crazy. Enty's full of it! ;)

Was he with January Jones at some point? Or am I confusing him with someone else? I know she was with Kutcher for a while but I could've sworn she dated the Beek as well.

Shinobi Jedi said...

CDAN has been routinely accused by other gossip sites (that all link to each other) of planting fake BI's for web hits. Which is why BG and other sites won't link to here, because they don't want their "credibilty" as a reputable BI sight tarnished by being associated with this one.

So, anyone that thinks there's never been any false BI's planted here needs to get a clue..

Cathy said...

Mark Paul Gosselar does commercials for Turbo Tax. Wouldn't it be funny if that's the company and when they weren't able to get Dawson for cheap enough, they got Zack Morris instead?

OneGirlRevolution said...

@bri...l'm so glad you got away and made a better life for yourself. :)

OneGirlRevolution said...

@Shinobi...

Whether or not this is true, BG is hardly a bastion of truthfulness.

And as an aside, most other "big" gossip sites do occasionally link here, including tmz and d listed.

B626 said...

Didnt the asian guy from The Hangover do some fancy dancing for some type of Pepsi product? Maybe Beek was offered that first.

ablake said...

That's his name! I bet you're right Cathy. Again I get Dawson and Zack mixed up (which would probably offend both of them).

ablake said...

..also about fake blinds, who really cares? At the end of the day we aren't going to meet these people. I bet more are true than we know (and really, do we want to know the bad ones?) We are voyeurists. We sit and gossip and point fingers (or don't and sympathize) it's not the end of the world. It's more about the community. Plus, Michael K giving it a link is pretty huge (check out the D from yesterday. He linked from here about JJ and Liam) I heart MK

pusssykatt said...

WEB HITS MEAN NOTHING! You have to click the ads or somehow open an ad. If you aren't donating to EL, and you're not hitting the ads, the webspace has to paid somehow. It's not paid for by a web fairy.

CF98 said...

He was never with January Jones that was Ashton Kutcher he was married to Heather McComb an actress for a few years.

That being said I take all of these with a grain of salt. Unless it comes true.

And Zack Morris > Dawson Leery

Unknown said...

Totally random but I saw Christian Slater this weekend...

Anonymous said...

Heather McComb! That's it. Thanks.

Agreed to take all these with a grain of salt. I find it quite telling that the vast majority of these reveals turn out to be exactly what the majority of commenters guessed. Not saying that you guys aren't great, just find it all a little fishy.

Anonymous said...

Actually that's totally not true. He has a disclaimer right on the site that declares anything and everything on here to be a work of fiction. See the fine print on the home page.
Also, proving libel in this country is costly and the burden of proof is on the person suing. Most would rather just ignore, because they can't prove actual harm and it's also unclear whether this site, more than others, purports to be anything other than fictitious.

Anonymous said...

But this isn't in secret is it or behind closed doors. He's family would know, people that know the guy say this is bull, so it probably is.

Anonymous said...

And no reason this can't be a fun place to play "what if." I just think it's important to remember it's all simply speculation and fun- not reality.

Anonymous said...

Never mind you've worked with him timebob knows better. God clearly some blinds are bull, if people in the know say they are why attack them. It wasn't done in a rude or aggressive way. It's meant to be fun. But the all blinds are true stance is naive and not fun

Silly Girl said...

Where did you see Christian Slater!?!?! Totally my dream crush. Absolutely.
I don't know if his show was a 'hit', but it got cut pretty quickly! I don't know of any other show he was on, but this blind totally sounds like him!

Anonymous said...

But you don't know him so irrelivant. The same could be said of any group of people. And the blind doesn't say any mask- he's a known a hole.

Anonymous said...

The number of web hits be gets determines what he can charge for an ad, silly. No traffic to this site would mean it would cost little to place an ad on here. More traffic means higher prices for ads.

Ever wonder why it costs so much to have an ad run during the Superbowl?

Just an aside.ABlake has it summed up, I think

Anonymous said...

But the chances of he's family not knowing who he is even though the behaviour is meant to be out in the open versus a piece of gossip on here a site that says it can make stuff up - what ones more likely to be bull?

Anonymous said...

@digbydog amen

Anonymous said...

You're mostly right, in my opinion, but it crosses the line when he starts calling out people for having HIV ( his Brittney reveal) or a child molestor, or a cheater, or a drug addict- I mean, yeah it's fun, but some of these people are actually nice and it's hurtful, I think, to put it out there. How would you like it if your daughter or son or sister or brother or neighbor or friend were accused of all these terrible things by someone who has zero evidence or proof, and even posts something saying everything on here is made up anyway?
Don't get me wrong- I love gossip! But sometimes it goes too far for me, usually when I know someone on here- or see that someone else does.

I sort of get the defense of this guy by the people who met him irl.

I've met several people who work in Hollywood and if I read a blind like this about any of them I would absolutely cry bullshit because I've met those people. Worked with them. Spent downtime with them. I saw who they were as people and I trust that experience more than any gossip I would read.

Yes, people can be totally different when it comes to business. But considering Enty says half the stuff here is pure BS and the people who know the guy irl say he's a decent guy I'd be inclined to believe it.

Especially if he was nice during a theatre production. In my experience plays bring out the diva in people and they show their true colours. It's different to film and TV. When you do film or TV you have people catering to your every need. In theatre, even the leads are expected to help bump in/bump out and nobody is there to be an actor's slave.

It's a bit different with high level theatre (Broadway and such), but that is generally true of theatre. In film/TV there are people to check your nose for bogies and wipe for you, ffs.

Sorry, didn't mean to cause a $hi+ storm! Heck, I still read my scandal mags every wk - even though I know most of it is garbage. Makes for good entertainment when you have to go to the bathroom! :-)

I wouldn't come here if I didn't enjoy the comments, the stories and the people. It sure made an otherwise crappy Oscars night very fun!!

Never meant to make "Dawson" a saint, I just know that he has good character most of the time. There are so many celebs that are crappy, just hate to see this one getting added to that pack. And we all are entitled to bad days. Don't know one person in that scene who doesn't have a little ego.

I was always taught to treat everyone the same and I try my best to do that. The person in the nice suit and sports car could be borrowing their whole ensemble, and the person who looks homeless and challenged could be a method Academy Award winning actor...yes, true story -"homeless, challenged guy" was actually Denzel Washington who was prepping for a role or trying to make sure noone knew who he was - by calling a different kind of attention...

Blind Items Revealed

March 20, 2007

So when people come out of rehab, aren't they supposed to be sober? This person was so obnoxious and so rude and so obviously wasted out of his mind.... (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) This television host was practically yelling, "notice me, oh please notice me." She needs to decide if she wants to be a host or a performer. If she needs that much attention then she needs to go on a reality show... (Paula Abdul) This person's hands are not all that's large anymore. When she sees the photos she is going to go NUTS.... (Paris Hilton) Imaginary conversation--"What do you do for a living?" "Oh, I'm a porn star." "Me too. Well not full time of course. We should do a porno together.".... (Jenna Jameson & person who shall not be named) This female reality star was so sweet. Don't believe all the stuff you read about her because I don't think most of it is true. (Stacy Keibler)

Fish: "This was previously revealed last year (Sat Sept 8 2012).

http://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2012/09/blind-items-revealed_4082.html

Then the 1st reveal was Brandon Davis, not Jonathan Rhys Meyers?

What's up with that?"

Yes, what IS up with that?
