Kids playing hide 'n' seek is one of my favorite things ever. I love when a kid covers his face and thinks you can't see him just because he can't see you. It's an actual developmental stage in child psychology, but I can't remember specifically why. It may be tied into object permanence.

ReplyDeleteMy three-year old is hysterical when she plays hide-and-seek. Usually, she runs into the pantry (and leaves the door wide open) or the bedroom, but sometimes she'll just stand right there in the room where whomever she's supposed to be hiding from is counting. Wherever she "hides," though, it takes about three seconds to find her, you just have to listen for the excited squealing.

ReplyDeleteAw! I love playing hide and seek with kids. The excited squeals and giggles usually give it away, if not the 'stand in the middle/corner of the room they're hiding in' tactic. =)
ReplyDeletePlaying hide and seek is so much fun! When I would look for my youngest all I had to do was say, "Where's Deryk?" and he would just giggle the entire time until you found him. Cracked us up every time.

ReplyDeleteYes because if they cannot see YOU, you cannot see them. Hilarious! I think it's funnier when you act like you cannot see them right in front of you until they open their eyes. Talk about giggles.

ReplyDeleteAs a teenager we used to party at a friend's cottage, no parents. 20-30 of us, stoned, playing hide n seek in complete darkness with Zeppelin blaring. Good times. (it was also a perfect time to randomly make out with God knows who when you 'found' someone)
They are so cute. I can actually remember hiding and thinking if I could not see the person they could not see me.
