Funny, owing to a dearth of things to watch on tv, including cable, i was watching CMT station last night, Cops:Reliaded-I said I was bored-and this info came on btwn commercials, which I thought was kinda nice. I'd not heard of him, but of course, rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteThis is written like a social studies assignment given to a 7th grader. "Write an obituary about the historical figure that you draw out if a hat". This particular 7th grader has no fucks left to give because it's almost Christmas break. Ray was still very popular to the listeners of traditional country music and routinely appeared on the Grand Ole Opry up to this year.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful rendition of Faded Love that Ray recorded with Willie Nelson. Crystal Gayle is on backup.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who this dude was but RIP anyway.
ReplyDeleteFor country music fans (i.e., not fans of Taylor Swift) he was one of the best. RIP.
ReplyDeleteEvery car trip I took as a kid, my parents had his music was playing. He really had an amazing voice.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of his is "Heartaches By the Number." Check out Rosanne Cash's version, too, if you're so inclined; it's lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou know, it doesn't happen very often these days that I'm too young to remember someone! Bless you, Ray Price!
ReplyDeleteDamn, that's four just this month.
ReplyDeleteRest in peace
ReplyDeleteI grew up listening to him. May he rest in peace. The world is a less musical place without him.
