I don't believe the gay rumors only because he works with too many gay people to have a pearl clutching reaction to it and try to deny his own homosexuality. There have never been any significant rumors or links to anyone to prove that Cumberbatch is gay. I think people just assume that because he hangs out with a lot of gay people and seems to be a bit feminine.
It's well known that Weinstein arranged this red carpet sham with Sophie Hunter, all to win awards, of course.
