Blind Items Revealed #1

December 17, 2016

There is definitely going to be a late night shakeup. One of the alternatives being discussed is having this A-/B+ list mostly movie actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee step up and be a host.

CBS late night situation/Anna Kendrick

She is too annoying for everyday. I also don't think she would give up her film career while it's hot.

ugh, NO. but it would be fun to watch her fail

God, WHY??

I thought the plan was to put Corden there since he's popular and the late, late show gets somebody cheap, not a famous actress who will cost a lot and might flop big-time.

Do what they did when Craig left Late Late Show. Throw Colbert out and have several weeks of guest hosts. Anna could do one week to see if she's a good fit.

even if you do that, you still have a hole for the "Late Late Show".

I thought Col. Blimp was already the hole for the Late Late Show...

This has to have been put out by her PR team. Who would want to watch Anna Kendrick every day?

The original idea was probably to have Rebel Wilson host ...

@AC: rebel wilson or kelly 'purple potato' osbourne....

Anna replacing Stephen Colbert? AS IF!

And than they'll wonder why no one is watching the late showes anymore.

But why now? There's four years of comedy gold coming.

I guess always attacking and ridiculing half your potential audience is not a pathway to good ratings, eh?

If they change the format of the show to fit her instead of forcing Anna into the same tired formula for late night talk shows, she might have a shot. A big problem I see is that there are far too many hosts that are forced to go out & do a monologue, essentially a standup routine. Someone can be funny doing interviews or sketches, but fail at doing standup. This does not sound like something she would ever want to do though. I don't think it is put out by her PR simply because she has given interviews talking about if this is the last generation that will watch movies in movie theaters she wants to be a part of that.

Doing a late night talk show would require her being in the writers room, throwing out ideas, helping to make jokes better, & it would involve her doing some level of producing, which she has always been against. Everything that the job entails are exact jobs that Anna has said many times that she does not want to do. She also clearly gets nervous whenever she is on talk shows. I see her shaking sometimes on talk show appearances, so if she's that nervous as a guest, how nervous would she be as the host every night of the week? You know what this really sounds like? It sounds like the Louis CK show when he did a multi-episode arc about David Letterman's contract coming to an end & how many other comedians were offered up as possible replacements. Louis got a try out & the network used this as a way to sign Letterman for less. I have a feeling we will continue to see some names floated as possible future talk show hosts planted by CBS to get Stephen to restructure his contract so they are paying him less money.

I don't even know where this is coming from. Someone said Anna's PR but Anna's never said a word about wanting a job like this. In fact, it sounds like a job she would hate to have. She hosted SNL 1 time like 3 years ago & I do not recall seeing her as the host of anything else that would show how well she would do as a talk show host. Really strange blind.

Below I give my thoughts on this, but I have to tell you that I do not think this is from Anna's PR. I believe this is a case of CBS leaking stories like this to try & force Stephen to restructure his contract or change the contract in some way. Like it is a way of saying "we've got options Stephen," to try to force him to change his contract & sign for less.

For me, Stephen Colbert making fun of the investigation into Pedogate /Pizzagate was the last straw for me. So now I've given up on late night. Creepy. I don't like the last night hosts much anyway - they all have the same personality! I say give Kendrick a shot.
