This Black Panther actress was one of its stars. She is afraid to go to rehab because she fears missing out on roles. She is trying to beat her addiction without going.

Danai Gurira?
Leticia Wright, maybe.
Lupita??
This is Danai.
Not everyone who kicks a habit goes to rehab, rehab increases the odds of recovery but it's no silver bullet as we've seen again and again.
Leticia has said she tried to defeat crippling depression with bible study, so precedence is there.
That said, *shrug*.
I can't imagine a world where bible study would help depression.
Wow, i would not have thought this was Danai. I hope this guess is wrong!
The first step is realizing you need help and it's good she's at that point. You can't get roles if your dead. Maybe she can hire a sober coach.
jire a sober coach.
What are the responsibilities of a sober coach, do you just hang out with the addict and occasionally yell at them not to do drugs? Or is it more like a human crutch type gig?
"Don't you touch that coke! I will make you go to an extra meeting and listen to another zombie looking woman talk about how she sold her baby for crack. And no coffee!"
Lol Brayson, I have a vision that it's more like this:
ADDICT is sitting at a table quietly reading a magazine. SOBER COACH enters from stage right holding a red megaphone.
SOBER COACH (holding megaphone to addict's ear): DON'T DO COOOOKKKKEEE!!! DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!! (ADDICT falls out of chair and writhes on the floor).
In all seriousness. I worked at a rehab facility in College. 98% were using again within six months. People would get sober, talk about drugs and alcohol for four weeks, and then released out into the world.
I am no doctor, but after watching the BS that was the rehab, and wondering what these adicts were supposed to learn, I felt bad taking the $8 an hour and quit/ got fired for questioning what the point was of having groups of people obsess about their drug of choice.
Maybe, work through it yourself. It seem to be effective for people who go on diets and lose weight, or people in debt who stop shopping.
One blind and now three actresses are rumored to be addicts. Good job, Enty.
@Bitchy, Hahahaha that's some serious tough love. I feel like the same thing would work for dieting.
Wow, you can get sober coach credentials online...everyone on CDAN should become certified sober coaches! Oh sh!t, then we'd have nothing to talk about...unless we were really sh!tty at our jobs, like apparently most sober coaches are, it's a win-win!
In addition to acting, Danai Gurira is a critically acclaimed playwright. Acting isn't her only gig. Not sure this is her.
I would be a HORRIBLE sober coach. I’m that asshole that encourages somebody the minute they say “Now don’t let me have/do such and such”.
@Brayson and Shawn, I have to agree, especially with what I have seen. My husband was forced as a young teen into rehab. Pot, I think. He said it only introduced him to harder things plus dealers. My cousin, also a teen/young adult in Cali developed a coke habit. Became depressed and suicidal. She actually attempted suicide but failed. She, with a friend, searched for help. A counselor upset her so much on an initial meeting that she walked out. She said she knew what she needed to do and moved out from the bikers she lived with and completely cut contact with the crowd she was hanging with. She kept her focus on sobriety and was successful. I have a lot of respect for her. Sobriety coaches seem to be glorified babysitters for the worst toddlers ever. They don't really want help.
Lupita this is a continuing blind.
