Blind Item #8 - Mr. X

Which recently deceased legend was promising her fans right up until the end that she would update her autobiography after her first book was accused of glossing over a lot of things? Turns out, she already had updated her memoirs, thanks to her ghostwriter/co-author who has done so for many other icons in the music biz. She let him put his name on the book and use her manuscript as a guide. The reason she didn't put her name on the cover is because her family and longtime friends would have been very upset at some of the details in the book, particularly involving the legend's father and his circle of friends.

I know the answer is Aretha, but damn - when I got home last night and read that Kim Porter died, I gasped. 47 is way to fucking young, and her poor kids....

well how knows how she was abused by them ..

it was never a secret really .. poor Aretha ..

@parissucksliterally I hear you; it's incredibly sad. Maybe I'm naive but I really did not see that coming.

I hope Enty won't exploit Kim's death for another made up conspiracy blind.

Wonder if Aretha will be addressing the long time rumor that her father was the father of her oldest child?

Yeah, Moose, my thoughts exactly. I read the last biography of her, and when the author questioned her family about her father being the baby daddy, they seemed very vague and dismissive, although they were very clear and forthcoming about all the other details of her life.

@trufflepig whatever Enty has to say about it, he's saving it for the next podcast

The ghostwriter is David Fricke (Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Bettye LaVette...) who wrote two books about Aretha, her autobiography and "Respect: The Life of Aretha Franklin" (four years ago), which was non authorized.

This is Aretha and as Moose said the issue of the father of her first child has always been rumored to be her father.

I read an article last month I believe that got into some of the horrors inflicted not only on his daughter but others around him by her father. One story involved his abuse of Clara Ward who was one of his girl friends. It was an ugly read
