Blind Item #4

Which high-profile Hollywood director is facing a drug-facilitated sexual assault case that was quietly sent to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office without the victim being given the opportunity to meet with the detective’s supervisor to review the reports for victim-blaming language or discuss what evidence had been collected and submitted? The case involves a victim who tested positive for benzodiazepines and whose rape kit contained the director’s sperm and DNA. After years of investigative delays and failures by the LAPD, the assigned detective asked the victim victim-blaming questions, including whether she “enjoys being unconscious while someone does stuff to her.” Even after the victim requested a different detective, the original detective was allowed to remain on the case. Sources say the detective and his supervisor bypassed meeting with the victim and submitted the case to prosecutors without including additional evidence the victim wanted considered. The victim is now pushing back, arguing that the process has not been victim-oriented.
