Let's go back in time to the alliterate foreign-born singer's girl group days. The first tour, where she met the north-of-the-border singer/songwriter who would be her most famous ex. On and around this tour, she liked to imply that one of the other solo acts was her boyfriend. This was kind of true. Except, she got off on playing boys against each other. She'd do things with the geekier one, not knowing he would one day be the bigger star, to make the cooler one jealous. It didn't help that a couple of the girls in the group caught the geeky future superstar's eyes, too. The bandmate who'd go on to be the other standout solo act had the most chemistry with the geeky future superstar, and expected him to succeed more than anyone else on that tour. They shared a work ethic and similar values. This is partly why the two solo breakouts became nemeses in the first place.
