Ace Young & Diana DeGarmo Are Shacking Up

Former American Idol contestants Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young are living together and have been since the late summer. Hmm, weren't Ace Young and Taylor Armstrong really flirty when he performed at her daughter's birthday party? Anyway, it seems like Ace does not get much more work than birthday parties, but Diana DeGarmo is one of my favorite stories from Idol, and probably the only reason I am bothering to even write this post. To me, she and maybe someone like Frenchie Davis or Tamara Gray or even Kimberly Caldwell really took the opportunity Idol presented to them and made the best of it and made a career of their fame from the show. I doubt very much that Diana or Frenchie would have got all the Broadway shows they got if it were not for Idol. The thing is they know what they can and cannot do and how they can do what they love while making a career out of it. For the most part, former Idol contestants are all about, "I'm recording a new album," or "I am going to go in the studio soon and then go out on tour." Meanwhile nothing really ever happens. They just disappear. Diana makes a really good living and is a hard worker and so are Frenchie and Tamara who writes a bunch of songs and even Kimberly who realized singing was not going to happen for her so became a television host. I hate when people are given the opportunity of a lifetime and then squander it and blame everyone but themselves.

Ricky Gervais was in town on Friday and Saturday night and I missed it. Of course since I didn't find out until late Saturday night, there wasn't anything I could do about ti. Looks like he enjoyed the food though. I won't be missing Eddie Izzard next month though.
