Beastie Boys Sue Monster Energy Drink

When Adam Yauch died, he stated in his will, what he always stated in his music, that he didn't want his music used in commercials. Monster Energy Drink uses Beastie Boys music in their promotional videos for events so now the remaining Beastie Boys and Adam's estate have sued Monster. I think this is going to be tough for the rest of the band in the future. What if they need money? What if Adam's family needs money? His estate had $6M in it when he died, which seems like a lot, but I think included a house. Not too many assets for them to liquidate and Adam didn't have a Graceland for people to come visit. Selling your songs for commercials or promotional videos is an easy way to make a lot of money. The thing of it is that his estate is going to be spending a whole lot of his money in legal fees trying to grant his wish.

Great tribute, but this song, even though it was the Beastie Boys biggest hit was not really who they were. Still though, at least they did something and on short notice too. The Goopster is probably ticked off that she was not invited to get up on stage and sing with the band.

Adam Yauch Has Died

Adam Yauch, one-third of the pioneering hip-hop group the Beastie Boys, has died at the age of 47. Yauch, also known as MCA, had been in treatment for cancer since 2009. The rapper was diagnosed in 2009 after discovering a tumor in his salivary gland.

Adam Yauch Has Very Treatable Cancer

In a message on the Beastie Boys website, it was announced they are canceling their remaining summer concert dates. The reason for this is because Adam Yauch has cancer which he is calling very treatable. A tumor was found in his salivary gland. Fortunately it was found early and is confined to one area.

He will need surgery and other treatment, but the statement says his vocal cords will not be affected.
