Today's Blind Items - Blind Item Breakdown

The question I get asked most about blind items other than answers is, "how do you find this stuff out?"

It is honestly not that difficult, but I thought I would take a minute to explain. I want you to think about your own life and this is true whether you work or stay at home or if you go to school or even if you don't even gossip as a rule yourself.

I want to do this by showing you your own life. Have you ever gossiped at work about someone, or heard gossip at work about someone? Like Sally is sleeping with Jeff over in Accounting even though he is married. There is absolutely no difference between that and the gossip that spreads on every film set in the world. The film set is work, but it is also revolving work. You will probably remain at the same company for years and years, but in Hollywood everyone moves in to something else after a few months and gets an entirely new group of employees to work with and gossip about and it just goes on and on. No one outside of your company or their respective families gives a whoop about Sally and Jeff, but if you turn the names into Jen and Ben everyone wants to know.

The same holds true even if you don't work. Have you had a dinner party at your house and gossiped about mutual friends or Bill's new weave? It is the same thing. People are people and no matter who they are or what they do for a living they talk, and talk and talk. It is just in this case, the people are not talking about Bill's weave, they are talking about whether John Travolta is completely bald or still has some hair left.

Let me give you an example. I was at dinner about six weeks ago and people were talking about this and that, but nothing gossipy per se. At one point I asked the waitress if she was an actress which is always a yes and asked her what she had been in. She told me and it was actually a pretty impressive list and probably made her wonder why she was still waiting tables. Someone at the table overheard what the waitress had worked on and immediately talked about the A list star of the hit network initials drama and how even though he was married he was always hitting on her. The waitress jumped in and said that the guy had actually made many passes at her and one time wouldn't let her leave his trailer until she had kissed him and agreed to have dinner with him. Then when they went to dinner he said he wanted to eat it in his suite and not in a restaurant. After dinner she thought she was going to have to beat the guy off, but the phone rang and it was his wife and when she figured that out, she spoke up really loudly so the wife would hear, said "thanks for dinner, I'm going to go now, " and got out.

Well that story led to another and another about when this had happened before and by whom and to whom and it went on for twenty minutes. In those twenty minutes I had enough blind items for a week. They don't usually come that easy and that plentiful, but almost any question can lead to a blind item.

If you ask your significant other how work was, and they say, it sucked. Jack is an ass. He did this and this and this and said this. Again, no one cares except the people involved, but if I ask one of my friends how work went, Jack may be Jack Nicholson and now you care.

Talk About Massaging An Interview

In the latest News of The World they trumpet their exclusive interview with Riley Giles. You may remember Riley. He used to be famous for five minutes as the boyfriend of Lindsay Lohan. I don't know if you want to spend five of your fifteen minutes of fame as someone's bitch, but so far that is really all he is known for.

When I read the News Of The World interview I had a passing interest in what Riley had to say, and if you read my blog, you know that what Riley told the News of the World may be what he was thinking, but to think he ever delivers words of more than three syllables is stretching it. I'm sure the editors were so confused about what he was saying, and convinced that no one could be that dumb, that they changed about 90% of what he said to fit their story. It's not like Riley is going to probably (a) read News Of The World or (b) know how to sue if he is pissed.

When the story first broke about Riley and Lindsay and how he had cheated on his girlfriend and Lindsay was a homewrecker, I took a chance and decided to e-mail Riley. I asked something innocuous like if he had anything further to add to the interview he gave InTouch Magazine because the home wrecker charge was just being leveled. Here is what Riley had to say. Excuse the punctuation, etc. I don't think they are teaching it in the schools today.

ive said everything there is to be said. i gave my interview yesterday to intouch. we dated for almost 2 years. i went into treatment to get the help i needed, and she wasnt down with that. she needs an intervention, herself. i broke it off with her before i entered cirque, because of our unhealthy relationship. i just cant swallow the lies shes been telling the media/press. linds & bree know about eachother, and have for close to 2 months now. shes a very jealous person.
Now compare that quote which is word for word from Riley to this from News of The World.

"From that moment it was on," he recalled as he described their first snatched passionate kiss in a corridor, strictly against the rules. "The chemistry between us was so strong we couldn't help ourselves.

I imagine his actual quote was something more along the lines of we kissed and f**ked all the time.

Over the next ten hours or so Riley and I e-mailed each other in an effort for him to give me so inside scoop on the ex and Lindsay, as well as all of those MySpace messages he and his ex were sharing that day. Although I attributed them to a "friend" of Riley, it was actually Riley himself who passed them all along to me. If you want to feel your brain cells slipping away, you can reread all those MySpace messages here.

Riley was one messed up kid when I spoke to him that day. He was on the verge of a relapse, and was under incredible stress and pressure from the media, Lindsay, the ex-girlfriend and of course Mr. Hohan himself, Michael Lohan

michael told me inside editions doing a report today, and they want me to comment about that also. i think ill give it a couple days.

It seems that Michael was all over Riley from the very beginning. Everything Riley did or wanted to do he had to approve through Michael first. Here was a guy who was on the verge of relapse and to Michael, Riley was just a pawn in his daughter's career and Michael's need to be in front of the media all of the time.

This last message I will share with you, shows some of the worst grammar known to man, but also shows a guy on the edge.

i just approved the shit, and put all her messages in a blog, idk wut to fuckin do man! i cant fuckin relasp dude!!

So now, when you read the News Of The World story, why don't you see where they might have helped things along a little in the direction they wanted it to go. You can read the story here.

Today's Blind Items With A Breakdown

The thing about most blind items is that you hear about them from someone. If you are lucky you witness the item yourself which is the best. The second best thing is to have someone you completely trust tell you about it. Recently I had a problem which I had not encountered since I began doing this blog. Actually, I have encountered it, but because of who told me, I chose to not worry about it because I wasn't going to say anything.

The problem is that sometimes people tell me things that are so incredible it makes you just want to write them, but you can't because there are maybe three people that know and so if it is written the circle of suspects is very small. It's one of the reasons why I haven't been able to tell the best Paris Hilton story on the face of the earth.

Sometimes, I will have someone tell me what they personally did and you really want to publish it, but it would be betraying a friend so you don't. Also since you are getting it from the source you really don't know if anyone else knows the story and so don't want to make the circle of suspects just poor little me.

Last week I had a situation where a person told me what they had done. I'm not a big fan of the person so I was definitely willing to reveal it to all of you as a blind item, but wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one who knew what she was saying. The problem is, you can't just make random calls and say, hey did so and so (B- list film actress) really hit on this married A list actor on an hourly basis while they were filming together? And if so, is it also true that said B list film actress was hiding naked for over 30 minutes in A list actor's trailer while A list actor's wife (also actress) was on the set? Seems as if the A list actor kept turning down our slutty actress but she thought that being there in his trailer naked would make him change his mind. What it would have done is got his butt divorced if our actress wasn't careful. There is just no way you are going to talk your way out of a naked actress sitting in your trailer even if you didn't do anything.

So the best person to call for this is of course AP. This is especially true since we hadn't seen each other in what seems like forever. We did a little dinner Saturday night. I told her what I had heard and she hadn't heard it, but she called some friends of the actress and it seems as if she told them the same story also.

Good. More than one person has heard it so if our actress reads this blind item, she won't be coming to look for just me. Apparently the actress told everyone the waiting in the trailer naked for the married A list actor and was very proud of the story because it was so funny. Never mind the consequences of the what would have happened if...

CSI- Blind Item

In case you are ever wondering how a blind item comes to be, yesterday's is a good example of what is involved. Rarely is it someone coming up to you and saying I just saw so and so doing strange things to a horse. They are usually more circumspect than that.

At dinner on Tuesday night, AP got a text about the C list actor which said something to the effect of, "you remember that guy who hated ________ in ___________. He is sitting on a couch just about having sex with two girls." It went on to describe some more details and the fact that the writer thought he was old and gross, but it was not necessary for the blind item.

Now, I know the person AP got the text from and that person has been known to have 1 or 10 or 20 drinks in a night. So, in this case, the text is just a starting point. She may very well have her movies confused, especially if there are tons of movies with the same guy or he plays the same type of character.

So, I check to see if that individual was where he was alleged to be. This is not as easy as checking Getty and WireImage, etc. Celebrities only do red carpets if they want to, and if there are no inside photos and they chose not to do the red carpet, then you better hope someone else was at that party that you know. In this instance I actually did know someone who was at the party and he had seen the same thing.
