DMX Arrested For Tax Fraud

Rapper DMX has been arrested in New York on federal tax fraud charges.

Prosecutors say the rapper, whose given name is Earl Simmons, owes $1.7 million in taxes and has engaged in a multi-year scheme to conceal millions of dollars of income from the Internal Revenue Service.

Prosecutors say Simmons raked in millions from his songs, including the 2003 hit "X Gon' Give it to Ya," and avoided paying taxes by setting up accounts in other's names and paying personal expenses largely in cash.

The 46-year-old Yonkers native was arrested on Thursday. He's to appear in Manhattan federal court on Friday. A telephone call to his previous lawyer's office went unanswered.

In 2015, Simmons spent more than two months in a New York jail for failing to pay child support.

George Zimmerman/DMX Fight Canceled

With DMX stating he never agreed to fight George Zimmerman and the promoter claiming a conscience, the celebrity boxing match scheduled for next month between Zimmerman and DMX has been canceled. The promoter says he could have made a million dollars but that he wanted to be able to look at his kids and have them be proud of him. You know, because there is nothing like arranging celebrity boxing matches between barely relevant celebrities to make a kid invite you to their school career day. "My dad finds losers who were famous for 30 seconds and gets them to fight." I do think it was a bad idea to promote Zimmerman like this. You are basically celebrating a guy who murdered someone. That being said I was hoping he would be put in the ring against someone who would pummel him for three rounds. The guy abuses women and kills people and gets away with it. I don't want him to profit off it which he would have done but I would like to see him get the snot beat out of him so it is a conundrum. It is also way too early to be using that word. This is the same promoter who begged Casey Anthony to come fight and as far as I know still has an offer out to her so it is not like he hates all murderers.

I'm not sure who would schedule anything that involves DMX. The odds of DMX being a no show for anything are high and when you set something out in advance it is tough with DMX because he gets arrested frequently and has a ton of court dates to juggle. Apparently though he was the number one candidate out of 15,000 applicants to fight George Zimmerman. To put it bluntly he was the biggest name who would fight the cheapest. DMX is tough but I wanted someone in the ring against Zimmerman who you know would pummel the guy. You want to chance this with a 43 year old who is neck and neck with Jenelle Evans for most celebrity arrests in a multi-year period? Zimmerman is 30 and has been training for months and DMX only has time to worry about where he is going to make a buck or which probation department he has to see that day. I can't believe there was no other person more likely to kick Zimmerman's butt than DMX.

Now if you give me DMX from a decade ago? I'm all over that. Maybe he has the fight in him. It sure would be nice.

DMX Arrested - Again

It is close to the holiday season so DMX must have been missing the place he has called home frequently over the last few years...jail. D or MX as his friends like to call him was arrested last night after he was found to be in possession of coke. Not content with just one drug, D, was also using OxyContin without a prescription, failing to show up for drug testing and just pretty much anything else he could do to violate the terms of his probation and parole. He is currently being held without bond.

Talk about a guy who had so much promise and just let it all go to hell.

I Have High Hopes For This Tell All

I have not decided if Tahera Simmons' book about her marriage to DMX will be a tell all or just his version of events. I do have high hopes that she will spill about everything that has gone on and all his arrests and jail sentences and everything else that makes him get arrested so frequently.

The couple married in 1999, have four kids together and she has not left him despite all this. That is why I wonder if she won't say anything and just take his side in all of it. You know, like he didn't know all the dogs were being mistreated or he didn't know he had all those guns in his car, or that Lindsay Lohan was the one who stole everything. Crazy stuff like that.

The book, entitled Strength Of A Woman is her first book. How many of you even knew DMX was married? He sure is setting a fine example for his four kids too.

At Least DMX Made It Through January & February Without Being Arrested

DMX is kind of like America's answer to Pete Doherty. They get arrested a lot, do a lot of drugs, and don't particularly treat pets well. In what seems like his 20th arrest in the past year but is more likely around 6 or 7, DMX was arrested for violating his probation. It seems that DMX has been using illegal drugs the entire time he has been on probation and has not complied with his treatment program.

The Sheriff in Maricopa County seemed pissed that DMX was not already in jail. "We would hope that he is finally sent to prison. We've arrested him five times already. How many times do you have to violate the law?" Well, if you are a celebrity and it is just drug offenses you can pretty much stay out of jail for a very, very long time. If you are Pete Doherty, you stay out of jail until all the judges you have serviced as a prostitute retire.

DMX Is A People Person

Well, we already knew that DMX was not much of a dog person, or dog lover. Now though it turns out he is not really much of a people person either. Apparently his copy of How To Win Friends And Influence people was lost by Amazon and so he does his best. As we have seen, that isn't always pretty. In his latest example of how not to succeed in prison, DMX apparently forgot to take his meds. According to TMZ, when the guards went looking for DMX and to tell him he needed to take his meds and head on over to his job he said, "I already have a job and don't need this s**t."

He then threatened to beat up all the guards in the jail which caused him to be thrown into isolation and to have all of his meals basically consist of bread and water. Ahhh, good times. I have had diets like that, but mine were more of the Top Ramen variety. Of course it wasn't much of a diet because I would eat about 8 of them at a time. I know, I know. The chemicals. But sometimes, as in a Twinkie chemicals are a wonderful thing.

DMX Has Way With Words

I once had a client who got arrested four times over a two week period. He was trying to raise money and so was taking a few more chances than he normally would. As a result, got busted a bunch. I thought his record would stand, but honestly, DMX has been arrested so many times over the past few months and has been to so many hearings, arraignments, courthouses and jails, that I don't know where he is at half the time. Oh, I know he is in jail, but there are so many to choose from at this point, that it is tough to decide. This is a guy who had everything going for him. Music, films, everything. Now, it is all going to slowly slip through his fingers like water. Between attorney fees, lawsuits, and no time to make any money, he is going to be just another guy we will remember.

I will say this about DMX though, he certainly has a way with words when it comes to judges. Apparently he decided that courtrooms were a great place to drop a F-bomb. Lucky for all of us, it was filmed.

Lie To Your Wife And Pay $1.5 Million

I don't know who the bigger idiot is, so maybe you can decide for yourself. In one corner you have DMX (aka Earl Simmons) and in the other corner you have Earl's wife. I like calling DMX Earl. Anyway back in 2003 Earl met Monique Wayne at a nightclub. This is while Earl was married. Everyone agrees that Earl met Monique at a club. After that point, Earl claims that Monique took him back to his hotel room and then raped him all night long. He even alleged this in an interview with Sister 2 Sister Magazine in an October 2006 article. This all night raping of him led to the birth of a child which DNA says is his.

Earl told this concocted story to show his wife that he never strays and is never cheats. His wife believed him and also hates Monique for raping her husband and forcing him to get Monique pregnant and then getting child support for the baby.

Monique decided to sue when Earl made this little charade public in the magazine interview.

In the interview — which ran as a cover story in the October 2006 issue of the magazine that featured Simmons and his wife, Tashera, on the cover — DMX was quoted as saying, "She raped me. ... That might sound like some bullsh--, [but] is that the only thing in the world that's not possible? Because when I sleep, my [penis] be out. ... DNA says it is [my child]. I don't know. ... If I did [have sex with her], I would remember. It ain't like she's a pretty girl."

The judge in the case awarded $1.5M to Monique which included $518,400 for compensatory damages and another $1M in punitive damages. I'm not sure how much money Earl has, but it has to be running out so Monique should hurry if she wants to try and get her money. If you are looking for Earl, look for a group of malnourished, mangy looking dogs and you will probably find him.

DMX Arrested --But Not For The Pitbulls In Arizona

Actor and rapper DMX's latest brush with the law happened in New York. DMX whose real name is Earl Simmons was arrested and charged with attempted robbery, criminal impersonation, and criminal mischief.

The arrest took place at the long term parking of JFK airport in New York when DMX and an associate were arrested while allegedly trying to steal a car. The owner of the car came up to the pair as they were allegedly attempting to steal the car and DMX then allegedly identified himself as a federal officer.

Shortly thereafter a scuffle ensued and that's when the real police showed up and dragged DMX and his buddy off to jail. No weapons, drugs, or pit bulls were found on the pair.

DMX's House Raided--12 Dying Pit Bulls Seized

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Department conducted a raid this morning at the Cave Creek, Arizona home of rapper/actor DMX.

Relying on a tip, deputies entered the home and grounds and seized 12 pit bulls who were all sick and many close to death. DMX -- real name Earl Simmons was not at home at the time of the raid.

This is not the first time DMX has had a problem taking care of his "pets." In 2002, DMX plead guilty to animal cruelty for neglecting 13 pit bulls. As part of that sentence he was required to film public service announcements speaking out against animal abuse.

Guess he should have watched his own PSA's.
