Michael Jackson & Farrah Fawcett Died Four Years Ago Today

Everyone forgets Farrah Fawcett died the same day as Michael Jackson. I think she will always be an after thought to that day, because of the shock of Michael dying, but I think she will be remembered much more frequently than she would have otherwise because she died on that day. People who write an anniversary story about Michael will probably mention Farrah and if she had died the day before or after, she would not get that kind of attention. We should remember Farrah and how Ryan O'Neal is still trying to screw her over four years after her death and stealing things that she gave away to other people. The guy is such an absolute a-hole. World class a-hole. Think about all the effed up things he has done in his life and at his age he still finds ways to top himself.

Speaking of effed up, the family of Michael Jackson is still messed yup four years after his death. Their blast of fame has come and gone and now they are even more desperate because at least back in the day they could guilt Michael into giving them money because he would not go on tour with them. Now they have nothing except what they can squeeze from his name and what they can pry loose from Katherine Jackson. I think because they care so much about themselves that they are big enablers of what happened to Paris and it won't make them grow up. The bottom line with the entire family has always been give me money.

I didn't forget, it was my birthday and felt my childhood slip away with both these icons dying on the same day. I just hope Nelson Mandela holds out so he's not another one with a 6/25 DOD.

I highly doubt everyone forgot about Farrah passing away. I'm sure her family will never forget.

Re Micheal, He trusted a hack to get what he wanted and paid. Farrah deserved better.

I was waiting for the bus to come home from work...same old same old. Out of no where a dozen cop cars go squealing by at top speed, and head on down the road a bit...but out of sight. I was thinking I'd find out what that was about on the local news...then I got home and found out not only had Farrah Fawcett passed, but so had Michael Jackson and that trumped any thing else that day.

Happy birthday Audrey! I know someone else whose birthday is today, and it took the shine off his day as well.

Happy birthday, Audrey! I will never forget that Farrah died on the same day, because I just wasn't much of an MJ fan and I consider her an icon just as much as him.

My hubby's birthday is August 31, the day Princess Diana died. He was...uh...not a fan, and he gets REALLY annoyed that he gets reminded of her life and death every year now on his birthday.

I could never understand the huge emotional spasm so many people seemed to go through when MJ finally kicked the bucket. The guy was a drug-soaked pedophile, pure and simple. Sure, the story of how he came to be that way may be sad, even tragic, but it doesn't change what he turned out to be. And since he undoubtedly met plenty of other people along the way who weren't drug-soaked pedophiles, it isn't as if he couldn't have known just how effed up he was. He merely, like so many people with tons of money, decided that he was "special," that his money meant he could get away with anything he wanted to do.

You make MJ sound like Elvis,Jimmy Page,Roman Polanski and Pete Townsend

CNN has done a bangup job of recapping the trial. Michael is the only person in medical history to be on propfol that extended of a time. If he wouldn't have OD'd, he would have been dead within a few weeks. Why? Propofol prevents REM sleep. Everyone needs it. That's how dang special he was. He got a doctor to kill him!

@jc: You forgot Steven Tyler. Didn't a bim's parents sign over guardianship to him so he could take her on the road?

MJ was a mess and his death was a result of his demons. While I fan of the talent he will always be overshadowed by his personal allegations/issues/demons. It's no different for me than countless others-regardless of colour!

I agree. I hate all pedos the same. Well, no. I think I hate priest pedos the most but all the famous ones are just a lump of shit together. Except maybe Sandusky more than the others because he used a charity as a cover. But that's it! The rest are all the same and sadly that includes MJ.

Lol! :-) That must be something. I liked Diana but if someone like Justine BeeePeeeePeee Or Fist Brown or Jennywhine Anuston were to die on my birthday (which I shall not reveal in case they get ideas) I would freaking lose it. Then tell everyone except the legal eagles that my b-day was the day before or after. I would informally change my b-day Queen Elizabeth style.

@cj, nope, that was the draft-dodging patriot known as Ted Nugent.

My 16 year old daughter and heard this on the radio this morning and as I was explaining how Michael Jackson was such an icon to people my age (50 ish) and made such great music -- she just calmly said "Well I only think of him as a drug addict and a pedophile." It was a strange moment and I had to admit that yes, he was very obviously so messed up. But growing up with him, loving his music and dancing along to Billie Jean and Beat It, it really is still hard to accept that he probably was the pedophile and drug addict that he is accused of being. So sad. Such talent and such a waste Wonder how many other kids he messed up. And wonder if the truth will ever come out if he really paid off families. As I said to my daughter: Who would take money over laying charges? I guess some people did.

I think people were saddened because of his pure talent and also he was only 51. Look how people felt about James Gandolfini passing away. Everyone thinks 51 is too young.

Farrah was beautiful and tortured but not nearly the talent of Michael.

My friend (Godsons Mom) remembered; when Farrah died, and they were in for shift change at the detachment. She & her partner were discussing the death with several other cops and how devastated they were. At the very end, the Staff Sgt looked at all the red eyes around the room and said 'Once upon a time, three little girls went to the police academy. They inspired thousands to do the same, and I'm looking at twelve of them. So, from me, thank you Farrah. Goodbye Angel.'
This morning she gave the speech, so no, people don't forget someone who makes an impression.
BTW, the university is still fighting the good fight to get the painting Farrah left them. RFO is a complete and utterly revolting specimen.

I never got the fuss over the kiddie fiddlers death. He was a bizarre weird mess. And Farrah had talent but she too had a long strange trip. And i fell terrible she suffered with that shitty cancer. Rip.

I remember that Ed McMahon had died a couple days before, and on the 24th it was all in the news about his career and Johnny Carson and his family's desire to have a smallish private funeral. It did not seem likely. The next morning I saw that Farrah had died, but not terribly unexpectedly, and I went on to work. A couples hours later a co-worker came in to use the work computer to verify a text message a friend had sent him about Michael Jackson, which he was SURE was a prank. All day the Entertainment Tonight-type shows had been promoting coverage about Ed McMahon and Farrah, and all of a sudden those stories were old news. Three days later when Billy Mays died (he was also 50 years old), I thought, no one remembers Ed McMahon anymore; his family can have whatever funeral they want.

How is 51 young ?????
You're middle age but you're not young .

Over 30 is considered old if you're an athlete so how is 51 young????

If you hear someone describe a person as being "only" or "too young " when they die, dude was old.
Also if they post a young picture in the obituary of the deceased, dude was old. He was old.

Also, here's a weird connection. Tatum O'Neal and Michael Jackson had dated in the 70s; it was her first public relationship. How bad was that day for her? Her pseudo-stepmom dies in the morning and her first love dies in the afternoon. Even with estrangement and the years since, to have two meaningful people in your life die on the same day by random coincidence must have shaken her up.

@just curious, we're not talking athletes, we're talking regular people. My husband's grandmother died at 93, Nelson Mandela is hanging on at 93 or so. 51 is not old, it's middle aged. Gandolfini died at a relatively young age compared to the average North American lifespan.

Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett AND my uncle Tommy! RIP man.

I can't with MJ, Farrah wasn't any paragon of virtue and clean living herself. He actually contributed something to the world, she was just a glorified spank model. O Neal is such a piece of work, and he does keep topping himself. I fear for Redmond and Tatum's sanity and stability.
