Somebody stupid brought home a rabbit for me one Easter to live in an apartment. That lasted five days.
Only if you count me putting Anderson in a harness and leash and parading him through Eagle Bar during my last visit to NYC.
Salamanders, rabbits, a cayman (alligator) and a pygmy hedgehog. The hedghog was the best. Unfortunately, they only last about three years.
Do Fish count?
We had a catfish in a ten gallon aquarium that wouldn't die. (the goldfish came and went, but that catfish kept living.)
So, before moving from Culver City to Las Vegas years ago, i released it into the wild to live free -- in the pond of the Condo complex where we lived.
I wonder if it's still alive today?
Lovebirds and finches
llamas, horses, goats, araucana chickens, white doves, finches, parakeets, cockatiels, macaws, lovebirds, hamsters, mice, rats, rabbits, ferrets, a rock python, guinea pigs, iguanas, all when i was raising children, now just dogs.
Rats, guinea pigs, a ferret, ducks, a goat, finches and a parakeet. I am currently owned by a 100-pound rottweiler we call Pinky and a two-pound guinea pig called Brain. Or Lenny and George. Or Hodor and Bran - just whatever fits for the day. The dog worships that piggie!!
Yes. I have had gerbils in the past and I have had rabbits, which are fantastic pets. Bunnies are now the only kind of pets I will consider.
parakeets, rabbit, guinea pigs, gerbils, hermit crabs, 2 ball pythons (when one of my grown daughters moved back in for awhile) and a leopard gecko. lots of mutts, but now we are down to the gecko, a hound mix and two standard poodles. Quite happy. Every kids needs a pet.
Lots of different ones. My favorite non dog or cat was my pet rat Lala. She was so sweet and dainty. She did tricks too. I was sad when she got a large tumor. The vet loved rats too. He removed her tumor for free so I could have a little more time. She was my first pet since moving out as an adult.
Silkworms, we had to take care of them until they grew up to butterflies as homework at school. Living in a flat that is part of a hive does not allow to own animals besides cats, birds, or fish, that I did not have or miss either.

1950s, Wilmington Island, Ga. I was in grade school. Summer vacation. Found a baby Crab with no claws. Brought him home and kept him in the tub. We moved him/her to the sink when we showered. Eventually, my father put him/her in a plastic bucket in salt water. One morning I went to find him/her and the Cat had dined on her the night before. At least that's what daddy said. Hmm.
Lizards, frogs, rabbits, birds, a hamster. Not all at once.

My other half used to keep snakes and lizards. He had Inland Taipans (most deadly), plus other venomous ones so once the kids came along it was decided they had to go.
We lived in the country. Very peaceful and quiet. Not a lot of traffic or noise. When two of my sisters and I were small, we had a large sand pile near the road where we lived. My sisters and I found 3 frogs around the sand pile. We made them tunnels to hop through and little houses to sit on. Their names were Diamond, Ruby, and Pearl. We would try to catch them and stick them under the sand tunnels to see if they would go through. Sometimes they did. Sometimes they would just hop away. I really don't know if we had the same frogs each time or if we had different frogs each time we played, but we had fun and would play until our light pole would come on. That was our cue to go back to the house.
I'm a day late but I had 17 beautiful ferrets back in the day....I was a kind of a rescue. People assumed they were throw away pets. However they are loving, sweet and smart. Ferrets rock.
