Susan Boyle Was Lip Synching On America's Got Talent
Does anyone sing live anymore? On a show that is all about live performances, the biggest one of all was actually pre-recorded. Susan Boyle was on the finale of America's Got Talent where she sang Wild Horses. The entire show was live except for Susan's part. We know she can sing so why on earth was it taped ahead of time? It turns out the producers were scared that Susan would freeze up or get stage fright and be unable to perform.
A report in the Daily Star says, "Given Susan's history, no-one was taking any chances. It was a sensible precaution to get her songs in the can. It took the pressure off her and enabled her to relax and give her best in front of her biggest ever audience."
Yeah give her best mouthing performance. The show is about live talent. Acts don;t get to tape ahead of time what they are going to do, so it seems really wrong for the entire show to be live except for her part. It also makes me seriously question whether anyone will ever see her sing live again. When she goes on tour how will you know that it is her? I know Susan can sing, but what makes a performance great is the fact that it is happening in front of you and can change and be different from night to night. If I want some pre-recorded crap they can just sit a Susan Boyle doll on stage and press play on the CD player. That isn't what people want and it isn't what people thought they were watching when they watched her on the show.

I agree, Ent. If the woman can't sing live, what's the point in building a tour for her? The fans need to know now whether or not she can perform live.

There are people who still sing live but for the most part they are not in the pop music industry.
awww, it's sad she can't handle the heat considering how talented she is. the show execs did what they had to do. if i were the producer w/ millions of ad dollars riding on my show, i'd protect it too.
THis is flat out a lie. Susan sang live in front of a packed audience of 500. I was there.
Please check your facts. MOST AGT guest performances are pre-recorded "live on tape," to deal with set-up and break-down times.
Leona Lewis, Shakira, Cirque and Susan Boyle were ALL pre-recorded before the finale, in front of a live audience, Nick and the judges. AGT advertising the tapings so people can order tickets.
There is a graphic AGT uses to show which parts are happening during the telecast and which are pre-recorded. Check it out. It says "live" or it doesn't.
SUSAN BOYLE DID NOT LIP-SYNC. Anyone who thinks this is lipsyncing is silly. She missed a couple of notes and it sounds *nothing* like the recording - totally different style.
Give me a break. Why do some reporters/bloggers want Susan Boyle to fail so badly?
Please check. 90% of AGT guests are prerecorded. Susan's performance was take #1, with no stops or edits.
You are a moron. Susan absolutely sang live in front of an audience. She was taped on Tues. evening at the studio along with most of the other guests. NO Lip-singing for this song bird.

I WAS THERE AT THE TAPING AND MS BOYLE DID NOT LIP SYNC! I SAT 4 ROWS AWAY FROM HER IN THE FIRST TIER SEATS, JUST UP AND TO THE LEFT OF THE JUDGES. MS BOYLE DID 3 TAKES, NOT BECAUSE SHE DID NOT PERFORM WELL EACH TIME, BUT RATHER FOR TECHNICAL ISSUES I ASSUME. SHAME ON ANYONE FOR SAYING SHE LIP SYNCED JUST TO PUT HER DOWN. Most of us here prefer to reserve words such as "moron," "idiot," "dumbass," etc for the celebrities. Not Susan Boyle, though. I love her.
Correct - there were three takes. The one that aired, though, was take #1. With LIVE singing.
I am disgusted that reports such as this are allowed out there for all to see.... In fact all the Guest Artists on AGT were taped on Monday 14th September, and Tuesday 15th September, Cirque Du Soleil were taped prior to Ms Boyle and then Ms Boyle did hers...
why do people make up such rubbish unless they were actually in attendance, this king of reporting sickens me to the stomach...
I think there were at least twenty people that I know in attendance for that taping, which went from 4pm until 7pm and I do believe it actually finished a little after 7pm from the reports of people who were there...
All of the guest star performances were taped before a live audience ahead of time, not just Susan's.
Listen to her Wild Horses from the CD, it's different, perfect, and longer.
She did NOT lip sync.
I think it's just really hard for people to admit that she's GOOD, but if you think she lip synced, that's obviously how you feel.

That is interesting. I have been trying to figure out which take they used. I knew it was not take number 3. Also, let me make a correction to my previous post, lest I be called a liar...I and 20+ Susan-Boyle.com fans were sitting to the Right of the judges. Also, CRAZY DAYS AND NIGHTS, you need to make an apology for posting a blatant lie on your Blog. If I was an Attorney I would sue you on Susan Boyle's behalf.

I have just watched Shakira, and as someone who knows a lot about lip Synching, Shakira was in fact the Guest Artist who was lip synching.... having seen lip synch artists longer than most of those commenting here have been born....

In fact, this report orginally came from the Daily Star - one of London's most notorious rag sheets - and one with very small circulation.
I don't know why bloggers pick up on these types of sources without checking.
Daily Star, btw, used a "source" to "confirm" this story. That "insider" claimed Susan sang TWO songs. Totally incorrect.
If this is incorrect, why should we believe this "insider" even exists or knows *anything.* Maybe ENTY could do a story on how false rumors get transformed into fact when media quote trashy tabloids without checking....
The whole point here is that she didn't lip sync, we know that beyond a doubt, but the writer states it as fact.
It's a lie.
That sounds like a pretty safe bet for a law suit to me, and an apology is in order.
Cirque du Soleil didn't perform live either. They were at the same taping session as Susan. Where is the criticism of them?
BTW, did it occur to anyone that the pre-recording might have been due to the fact that she sang with an orchestra? How are they going to get an orchestra in position and tuned up during a commercial break?
OH Dear and this information came from the Daily Star, the worst rag in the UK, I should know I am British, Circulation of about 20 at the most.. many left on the shelves in most shops.. Dear Dear me.... No one should ever believe a darn thing the Daily Star publishes, shall be really glad when they are closed down for lack of participation...
I was at her pre-recorded performance and I can assure you she did not lip sync. She did three takes, all more beautiful and powerful than the previous.
The take shown on AGT was the FIRST. She didn't carry some notes as far as she did in the following takes.
Were you there Ent. Lawyer? What seat did you have? What FACTS do you have that she was pre-recorded for the reasons you stated?
It is unknown little people like yourself who cling to the coat tails of this remarkable woman with negativity to bring attention to yourself. Sad. I feel so sorry for you and your ilk.

Look, I like Susan Boyle, too--pre-recorded or not. In fact I first learned of Boyle thru this blog, from a video posted from you-tube. If the poster/posters want to see what's been written in the past, then search for it. Most comments have been very positive with some concerns over her mental wellfare.
So lay off Enty. He writes a fun entertaining blog about GASP!-gossip (some of the time.) And for crying out loud, don't go all Kanye on us. Only Shazzzba is allowed CAPS and noone else.

Talk about the dumbing down of "talent". WHAT is the point if she can't do again what she pulled off in spades the first time? Even if she is "special" it is ridiculous. When she had EVERYTHING on the line with her first performance she brought the house down. Now that she has fame and money and fans she can't pull it off?

I think what most people are trying to say is, DO NOT believe all that you read especially if it comes from the Daily Star, they are a rag paper.. No more and no less

Perhaps you have not read the comments of people who actually attended the taping of the Guest Artists that were on AGT.. and I will repeat here, Susan Boyle did not lip sync her performance, Shakira lip sync'ed and so did Leona Lewis.. The reason I mention all this, if you check out on the Susan Boyle YouTube for the accidental on purpose leak of the track Wild Horses, then watch the Video again from AGT, there is a huge difference in the voice... We singers lip sync, the song is exactly the same as the original track, however, Susan Boyle's is totally different... Same as her initial performance on BGT auditions to the finals of BGT.. both very different....
I do hope you can understand what I am trying to say here....

I've been very civil. I agree that no one should be called names and I'm sorry someone was.
But, my point when I first posted was that it is NOT okay to reprint a lie just because it's funny or controversial.
It wouldn't be okay for the BBC to announce that the PM had died because it was printed in the Daily Star. It wouldn't be okay for someone to report that Susan Boyle had cancer if it was in The Sun. Just as it wouldn't be okay to send a text to all your friends suggesting one of your other friends had been working as a prostitute because someone told you. Responsible people check - especially if it's an easy thing to do.
Simply reprinting slanderous gossip - which this is - is wrong. It's harmful to a celebrities reputation.
This whole rumor is very damaging, and I don't understand why no one understands that it's not okay to do this sort of thing.
On final note -
ENTY printed several lies from the Daily Star.
BUT - this is the FIRST blog or news source I have seen that has suggested Susan Boyle lipsynched. The Daily Star made no such suggestion. That paper merely said her performance was prerecorded.
So, the charge of lip syncing is brand new and is only found here.. as far as I've seen.
You're right Christy, I haven't found the lipsynch allegation anywhere else.
