Michelle Trachtenberg Says She Could Have Been Bella

Do I think Michelle Trachtenberg was considered for Bella in the Twilight series? Yes. Do I think she was offered the role as she implied? I don't think so. Michelle told US Weekly that because she is just one of a handful of "pale girls" in Hollywood that she was considered. She then makes it seem like she was offered the role but that because she was filming Buffy at the time that she could not fit the movie into her schedule. "I guess schedules never worked out. I already have Buffy. I've already done the vampire thing." Yeah, but all those seasons of Buffy combined would not give you the salary of anything after the second Twilight movie. Plus, you will probably never be as famous as Kristen Stewart now. I think Michelle got passed over for it. I think the producers probably could not afford her at the time. They went super cheap and super unknown for the most part. I think Michelle is a little bit jealous. Yes, she had Buffy, but they will probably make a new one in a couple of years and everyone will forget she was in it.

it's really bad manners to talk about roles you passed over. Not that I think she was offered it either. I'm sure her agent pretended she did ease her ego.

almost 3,000 actors auditioned for the role of Edward.

So she was just of many.

What an ego! I agree with timebob. Her comments are in poor taste. And she was most likely one of many who auditioned or was considered, but I highly doubt she was offered the role. Kristen Stewart was about as well known as she was when cast (having starred in Panic Room with Jodie Foster and Into the Wild). She was a rising star in the feature community. Has Michelle done anything but tv?

However, enty, I don't think she was implying that being on Buffy kept her being available for the role, (Buffy ended in 2003 and Twilight went into production four years later) but was (rather arrogantly) saying she had "been there done that" already.

I think she said it to get attention which she did. I never really hear anything about her now after gossip girl and that was a small role I think. Her movies after Buffy never hit it big and now her roles are small where don't even remember her name. Even if you go back to Buffy people were just saying how they hated her character and she ruined Buffy. This is just a desperate attempt to get attention.

And one more thing. Being pale with dark hair isn't that uncommon.

also agree that its poor taste to talk about roles you passed up on in this way. it makes her sound like she is bitter about it but is trying to come off like she doesn't care. i'm sure there's alot of passed up roles out there that people are kicking themselves for but you don't hear about it much because its a shameless attempt to try to connect yourself to the popularity and gain attention.

but i also don't care much for Michelle in general so....

I've only seen her in two things - Inspector Gadget and Gossip Girl. I didn't like her on Gossip Girl (not supposed to, she's psycho) and I think it crossed over into real life. She bugs me. This article makes me think I'm right about my impression of her.

I heard Michelle can be a difficult diva with an over inflated ego especially to extras or assistants on set (I'm friends with someone who worked on a set with her). Yes she's bitter because she knows this could have bumped up her career big time. Yet tried to play down off by saying "been there done that" as if the role in Twilight would compare to Buffy. It makes her look arrogant...which she is.

She needs to sit down and shut up.

to me, however she looks alot more as i pictured Bella Swann, than Kristen what's her face. I saw Bella is Liv Tyler at about 17 but paler. Kristen Stewart does not look soft or femine in any way to me and that's how Bella was described.

The only thing I ever liked her in was Harriet the Spy (but the book was so much better). She was also in Eurotrip, but personally I couldn't stand her character on Buffy. The whole plot was 'she's the key- will she die?' and I couldn't wait for her to get knocked off by a vamp.

I bet she didn't get it because her demands were too high. She thinks way too much of herself.

LOL @RQ.

Agree with RenoBlondee--MT needs to sit down and shut up.

She was fine as Dawn. I didn't like the character and was really against the idea of Buffy suddenly having a little sister but the show was so damn well-written that it won me over. Argh, I can't stand the thought of a reboot of that show. Unless Joss is involved and writing it, I don't want anything to do with it. Rather than remaking it, I wish they would have gone with making it an animated series like they talked about doing a few years ago. That would be perfect: Joss' writing and dialogue and animated characters never age.

I like that nurse show with her and a couple other girls a couple years ago, but of course it got cancled after the 1st season.

Michelle didn't get the Bella role because she didn't have the lip-biting talent that KStew has.

I liked Harriet The Spy.

I agree she was probably passed over, if considered at all, and now is envious. I think that kristen stewart is a very talented actress. I only saw the first movie, but she was perfect for the role. and, she helped the first director choose pattison as well.

dana delaney said the same thing about sex in the city. she said that she turned down the role that went to sarah jessica parker. maybe she did, but sjp was more than just the star, she became a producer and had of control over the plot lines etc. and dana delaney doesn't have sjp's charisma.

so, this would be like ronald reagan complaining about turning down the humphrey bogart role in Casablanca.

in the end, they just wouldn't have been the same. they worked because of the chemistry of the actors/role, etc.

Wait. What does Buffy have to do with this? Buffy ended in 2003 way before Twilight was even published as a book.

krisitn stewart's "acting" style consists of lip biting, looking down a, and mumbling...hardly noteworthy.

Didn't BUFFY end in 2003? TWILIGHT was made in 2008. Doesn't match up. She might have been offered a part in Catherine Hardwicke's THIRTEEN which came out in 2004 but she couldn't do it because of BUFFY and I guess she figured "Well if they wanted me for that first movie they would have wanted me for TWILIGHT too. Because I'm just that awesome."

Totally. I'm sure.

zeldafitzgerald said...

It's because she also said she was offered Thirteen (Catherine Hardwicke) but at the time, she was doing Buffy.

Enty didn't read the whole thing. Again.

The Adventures of Pete & Pete rocked. That is all.

^I LOVED that show! HA!

I'm sure she's envious of their paychecks, but I kind of got the vibe that she wasn't all that sad about the missed opportunity.
