Katherine Heigl Wants Back On Grey's Anatomy

Knowing that her soon to be released movie will be a bomb, Katherine Heigl would love to return to Grey's Anatomy. She told the exclamation point network that she wants to play Izzie again and has asked the boss, Shonda Rhimes, to be put back on the show if possible. If I were Shonda and I am not, I would tell Katherine hell no. Shonda is so much nicer than I am though so even if she did say no she would say it in a much more friendly manner. Katherine left in a huff and burned every bridge in that place. When she saw she actually had missed a bridge here and there she got T.R. Knight to burn them down as he left. I don't think Shonda should let Katherine even visit the set.

Every time I see a commercial for that show, I'm shocked it's still on the air. Are people still watching it? I stopped when they killed Denny.

When I quit watching, Katherine was still on there. I'm also shocked it's still on the air!

Didn't she die?

I've been feeling lately that a lot of big actors are migrating tv...maybe it isn't seen as so small-time any more by actors? I mean if Gwyneth could do it..../eyeroll

I don't believe she wants to go back. That doesn't even make sense. Even if her movie does bomb in the theaters, it will probably do well with rentals. She's not even close to the kind of failure that would make a return to GA necessary.

Shonda will let her back on. Grey's needs the ratings. blech.

I don't think her movie is going to bomb. There are alot of people out there who have waited ages for those books to be turned into movies. I work with a few who are in a tizzy about it.

What's the Heigl Hate about? Sorry, but I can't keep track of all the celebrities I'm supposed to hate much less why. There needs to be a chart or something enumerating the alleged sins against humanity. Also, a chart for criteria for A-list, B-list, C-list, and D-list. Someone talked about that once but I never saw it and the designation appears to still be more emotion- rather than logic-based.

@Amartel - she was quite vocal when she left the show. She acted very ungrateful for that opportunity, and was sure she was destined for greatness in films. Well, her films are a floppin, so she wants back into the show she publically dissed.

If Shonda does take her back, she should make Katherine a patient who has some hideous disease like leprosy. Every week another chunk of flesh can fall off. That would be cool.

I think the show is actually getting quasi better. I would also like to see Izzy back on.

IMO If Shonda is smart, she would at least think about it.

Word on the street is, Private Practice may not be picked up, her jungle medical show tanked and this could be the boost to keep the show alive for a bit longer.

I also think most of the characters are actually getting less annoying on the show, but who knows how long that will last.

If this is going to be one of the last (if not last) seasons for this show, why not?

Hmph. Her movie career bombs, and now she wants back on the show she was all too happy to leave. If I were Rhimes, I'd tell Heigl to take a hike.

I hate myself for being slightly amused by the commercials for her new movie.

Agreed with the "no love for Heigl" crowd. Basically she is clueless. She burned bridges leaving, and has no dignity whatsoever in stumping for a return. She has learned nothing and if Rhimes takes her back it will be the same old same old. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...you all know how that ends.

Greys Anatomy should limp off to irrelevance minus Izzie.

I watch Grey's...sometimes more out of habit then for want. I don't want KH back. She burned her bridges. I hope they don't cancel PP...I watch it too.

If Shonda was gonna let her bak on, it would have been for next weeks episode- a "what if" type of situation- Kate Walsh will be on again.

Jennifer Aniston's movie bomb left and right and she laughs all the way to the bank. Katherine Heigl is having the same career.

I can't see her coming back to GA.

I cry every week watching Grey's. I love Mer/Der it's good every week.

Del Riser said...

I really can't see Heigl wanting back if she's getting movies, and the TV show might be on it's last legs.
The books by Janet Evanovich are a fun read when you need a laugh. I typically read much grittier stuff, but if I need a laugh out loud moment I'll read Janet's books.

@Anita, I've read the books, which are extremely stupid-funny, and I gotta say that from the previews it looks very similar. I've promised my ma that I'd go see it with her.

As terrible as she may come off in interviews, she is actually a pretty decent actress. Life as We Know It came on HBO the other day and I didn't hate it.

timebob said...

I read it as she would like to come back for an episode, not series regular. Like wanting to spend a day at high school after you have graduated years before.

I bet she will pop up at some point, she wasn't killed off like TR character was. If it means ratings, the network will make Shonda write the episode.

I don't watch the show and am not sure how it's doing, but when they decide it's going to be their last season they could probably bring her back for an extended arc and get good ratings and give her career a boost as well.

She has said some stupid and ungrateful things. Hopefully she has learned better.

Everyone I know (well, not me, never read the books) is super psyched for this movie. My friends are a combo of Jersey girls, mystery lovers and Heigl fans.

How are these numbers bombs?
Life as We Know It - $105mm worldwide on $38mm budget

Killers - $98mm worldwide on $75mm budget

Ugly Truth - $205mm worldwide on $38mm budget

27 Dresses - $160mm worldwide on $30mm budget

Knocked Up - $219mm on $30mm budget

These numbers are just box office; excludes DVD sales/rentals.

Slice it any way you want, but her movies are big money, not bombs.

Amartel said...

Thanks, nola. I've only seen her in Knocked Up, which I thought she was really good in. Never saw Grey's Anatomy. A lot of the actors on that show seemed to have issues with it, though.

I like KH and would LOVE for her to come back as Izzy. I'm also a big fan of the Stephanie Plum books but I don't have high hopes for the movie. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

I love the, plum books and will see the movie

I used to love Grey's Anatomy but like all series (Desperate Housewives) they lose their allure after the second season. Especially after Denny died. When he kept coming back after he was dead they totaly jumped the shark for me.

I think it would be a good idea to add her for an episode but continuing the Izzy charachter fulltime ..meh.

I cannot find her newest movie. What is it? Is it from a book by Stepanie Plum or Janet Evanovich? I am confused.

tflamb said...

It would be a mistake to bring Heigl back. Not just because she would be hella expensive and disruptive to the set but because but also because the show has moved way past her. Why take those steps back for little benefit. Her return would goose the ratings for about 4 or 5 eps but that is it. The short term gain not worth the long term pain.

Del Riser said...

@Sherry, Janet Evanovich is the author of books about Stephanie Plum.

Stephanie is a Jersey girl who works for a bail bondsman. She has a hilarious ex- hooker gal pal and sometimes partner at bringing in the bad guys.

Her G'ma is a riot. The best part is she has two hunky guys lusting after her.

The books all have a number in the title and can be read stand alone, but are better if read in order.

I think she means just to guest star. I mean, didn't she recently sell a TV series to the CW she's set to EP? I thought I read that a few months ago..

mooshki said...

This is another magical Enty version of events, lol. Like Timebob said, she just wants to come back for one episode to do a "whatever happened to Izzy?" wrap up. And I think that's awesome of her, to know that fans are still invested in her character, and would like to know what happened with her.

Tara said...

I'd rather see Isaiah Washington on there before Katherine Heigl. The show has pretty much sucked without him. Burke was awesome...even if his actor was a douche.

Even the awesomely yummy Kevin 'Lucius Verenus' (I prolly spelled that wrong) can't fix it. *sigh*

MadLyb said...

I don't do "Grey's Anatomy", but people seem to like Izzie. And it will keep her off the big screen in those silly rom-coms, so I vote that she should be allowed back.

Rose said...

I read about this yesterday. KH has already reached out to GA to let them know she would like to come back to the show. I loved Izzie and would love it if it happened. I'd also love it if PP was canceled and Addison went back to Seattle.

Jennifer H. said...

Thank you, cancan. I don't get how KH is supposed to have failed in movies, either. I was wondering what the actual numbers were.

Basil said...

How are her movies bombs? I realize they don't have the juice that Knocked Up had but they are respectable money makers and that is really all that counts. As for the Stephanie Plum movie, it already has a built in audience because the books are very successful. The only real question is will it have the numbers to make it a successful franchise.

Thanks Del.

She has definitely stuck her foot in her mouth several times but I don't hate her. I loved how she stood up for TR & she does a lot to raise awareness about animal rescue.

I actually really enjoyed 27 Dresses, (although mostly b/c I've been a Bridesmaid almost that much).
