Man, it's dusty in here.
*sniff*
Oh my gawd, that was the most awesome thing I've ever seen.
Thank you Enty for that lovely smile for the day :)
O. M. G
too too GOOD
He is so adorable! His big smiles made me smile :) Bless him
I'm meeeellllllttttingggggg...
Made my day, thanks.
Every time, I'm a huge baby.
You made me cry, Enty.
How did he know how to say "uh oh!" ?
I've got to quit watching stuff like this when I'm pms-ing. It just takes it to a whole other tearful level!
Thank you, Enty!!
Kind of puts the "problems" in our own lives into perspective, doesn't it?
And I got something in my eye...again.
For all of the evil fucks we read about on this site and others (yes you fat fuck from Head of the Class, I am talking about you), it is amazing to see there are amazing people who are helping people, especially a child hear his mother for the first time!
I love watching videos like this. It's always amazing to me, and I can't imagine how someone deals with our loud, crazy world after living in silence for so long.
I know there is a lot of negativity about implants and hearing aids in the deaf world, but I think parents owe it to their kids to give them every advantage they can in life -- and, where appropriate, I think that includes the ability to hear.
By the way, the video says the kid is 5, not 2.
Beautiful... but I feel like those two women are overstimulating that kid. Like, just let the MOM do the talking instead of back and forth, confusing the kid. He was probably so overwhelmed... WITH HAPPINESS. I'm excited for him to listen to music for the first time!!
Wow, modern technology can really be a marvel sometimes. Just incredible.
Very cute! I hope his parents continue to work with him. You can't just pop that on a kid (or implant a kid) with no aural rehabilitation, but from the looks of it, that is not a concern at all. He's really adorable and seems so excited. :)
Deaf since 4 myself from meningitis, got a cochlear implant in November 2011 at the ripe old age of 42. If you are interested, you can click on my profile to see my own blog which has been about that. It has not been an easy journey for me. I haven't blogged since February because it's been so difficult and I haven't felt like talking about it. So many people think a cochlear implant is a miracle fix and it is not like that at all. My brain doesn't know what to do with all the auditory input. I finally had to turn it down and it's been a little better. Small steps.
Kids have a much, MUCH easier time adapting than adults do, God bless their flexible, resilient souls! :)
That was great!
@Caroyn I hope you have great success with your implant. Good luck to you!
Being pregnant, I sobbed as I watched. His reaction to hearing is so sweet - I love that he instantly tries to communicate and gets so excited.
@Prada - he didn't say "uh oh," one of the adults did. I wonder how long it will take him to acquire verbal language.
Carolyn, am off to check out your blog. Best to you.
I wonder how hes doing.
What a cutie!!! Oh how exciting for his family. My eyes are just weepy because it's morning. I'm not crying I swear.
OMG. He's trying to process the strange "sounds" while pulling into the silent world he knows. This is beautiful! I need to find that youtube of the teen girl who hears sound for the first time, now. I think I bookmarked it before my move.
Good luck, Carolyn.
That was an amazing video. Hope the boy adapts well to the change. On a purely selfish note, things like this really make me thankful that my child is healthy. Now, I will proceed to continue bawling my eyes out...
I love this....so sad that blinds about cheating celebrities garners more comments than such a beautiful and miraculous event as this one...
Thanks, Enty...
Mighty dusty in here indeed!
Washes away the thoughts of the kitten killer. Thank you.
@seaword - HAHA! I love that game. When I got "Tupac" I did the best I could but also added "I was recently a hologram." ;)
