Today's Blind Items - She Didn't Know
She came into the acting mainstream in her mid teens. 14 or 15 to be exact. Her first role made her a star. One of those plucked from nowhere kind of things and it was all just a blur. She is a solid B lister now who does movies and television and is always working. Back then though she was at the top. In her first role she was supposed to get kissed on the cheek by a character who played her dad. She got tongued by him. It was the first kiss she ever had and it was with an old man who stuck his tongue down her throat and said welcome to the business. He then grabbed her ass. This guy is also still in the business and a character actor who everyone would recognize but maybe not know his name. Her parents were around, but they were not usually on the set. They didn't know about the tonguing or the groping. They didn't know that the actress she was sharing a trailer with also did lines of coke in the morning to keep her awake. That actress is still working too and generally has to resort to getting naked to get cast. Our actress tried coke during that film. She tried it for the next film too. By her third she was strung out on coke and stopped on her own. By then she had also realized if she was going to keep doing this she was going to have to things her way. She refused to be in any more movies that wanted to show her naked. She has never got naked for a movie but plenty of producers have offered her lots of money. Once she got naked but the director cut it. She had to sleep with the director to get him to cut it though. The studio was ticked off. But, the director had final cut. Our actress also decided that she needed another career besides acting so started doing other things which would be there as a fallback. She actually is more known for something else other than acting.

If it is Natalie then the actor isn't Jean Reno. He didn't play her dad. Michael Badalucco played her dad. Haven't seen "The Professional" in a while but is there a scene where he kisses Natalie on the cheek? Also it says she shared a trailer with another actress on that set. I don't recall there being anyone else in "The Professional" that would have shared a trailer with Natalie other then Ellen Greene who played her Mom. I don't Ellen Greene needs to resort to the casting couch to get roles.
My first thought was Katherine Heigl with Grrard Depardieu as the father and "My Father the Hero" as the movie.

The blind says that she came into the mainstream around 14 or 15 and her first role made her a star. Her first role did not make her a star, and her break into the real mainstream with MWC came when she'd have been about 16. Her parents also have some Hollywood connection it seems, however loose and thus would eliminate her from "plucked at random." None of the other guesses do it for me either, Alicia Silverstone, Mayim Bialik, etc. Sure they're known for something other than acting; feeding your kid like a bird and having a PhD, but are they more known for that than acting? I am voting for A Silverstone, too. Just because she was 17 when the movie came out, she may have been 15 when it was filmed. It is rare for something like The Crush to be your first film role. She did those Aerosmith videos and was super popular, ie men would want to see her naked in a film. It would be a big deal. I just read the description of The Babysitter (never saw it) but based on the synopsis, I can see some nudity being part of the plan and subsequently cut/producers pissed.
And she doesn't do anything high profile anymore. She is known for her vegan lifestyle and animal rights business.

And although Stacy Dash has appeared nude on screen at least once, unless I've missed some things, it would be a stretch to say that she's gotten naked to get most of her roles. Who was the 4th member of their clique in that movie.
Also, I can't recall seeing her in anything, on tv or in the movies, recently, so I don't think you could characterize her as "always working."

I really think some of the guesses are just trying to shoehorn a given person into fitting "She is actually more known for something else other than acting." Does Erika Christenson work? First role Leave it to Beaver with the dad being Christopher McDonald? I wouldn't say that it rocketed her to fame, but she's a solid B lister who's working steadily.
I'm not liking this blind at all. Among the reasons is the fact that it seems to be talking about two actresses? And a character actor? Or is it just one? Aargh. Next!
Finally I have one and can say FTW (but I'm late.....)
The answer is Sarah Polley.
She was "at the top" in the late 90s and is still a solid B lister who is always working. And she is now better known in her career as a screenwriter (Nonminated for Oscar in 2008 for Best Adapted Screenplay) and Directing/Filmmaking (Won NY, Chicago Film Critics Award for Best Filmmaker in 2006). She is essentially the only female whose career shot from nowhere to become a big name actress at 15 who is now better known for her other career.
The question is, was the first role "Exotica" (filmed age 14), or is it her breakout role that exploder her on the scene "The Sweet Hereafter" (filmed age 16-17) (If you read the blind, Etsy seems to bounce around about the timing of the roles, and it is not clear)
For Sweethereafter:
1) Character actor everyone knows (played father, who kisses her in movie scene): Tom McCammus (played Mason Eckhart in Mutant X, plus 73 other roles)
2) Actress still working who gets naked: Alberta Watson (Nikita)
For Exotica:
1) Character actor everyone knows (played uncle): Bruce Greenwood (played President in National Treasure 2, Christopher Pike in Star Trek)
2) Actress still working who gets naked: Mia Kirshner (The L Word)
Not Sarah Polley. She had a very extensive acting career even before Exotica or Sweet Hereafter. She played Ramona in the shows and movies, as well as Emily of New Moon for a good number of years. At the time she probably was more well known in Canada, but kids everywhere watched Ramona and New Moon. She's been on the radar since she was about 5. Great actress and great writer and director.
yeah alicia silverstone but i thought she was 14 or 15 when she did the crush...well she is only 2 years older than me. so she was 18 when she did clueless, not 20...and shes more famous for chewing the food and feeding her young with it
@Basil. You are right. But when I re-read the blind I realized it it says "She came into the acting mainstream in her mid teens. 14 or 15 to be exact". It didn't say she started acting at age 15, just that she "came into the mainstream".
Pretty well all of the stuff Sarah Polly did before was local Canadian productions --(being Canadian myself, I know them all, I just wasn't sure how well in the US mainstream she was known back then).
Obviously, I'm just trying to retrofit her into the blind details, but it is mainly because she really seems like the only actress with that big an acting career at a young age, who now has a bigger career doing something else, while still while still being a solid B list actress (I think better than B list personally).
@G-money I wasn't trying to slate you or anything, I'm just not sure Polley fits this blind. Hearafter was a great movie but how many people actually saw it? More people probably saw Polley in Dawn of the Dead or Go. And I wish more people had seen her in Splice (great movie). But I just don't think she made a big enough mark in the US market to warrent a B. And I agree, she is pretty much A in my book.
But whomever this actress is, according to the blind, it sounds like she almost got trapped in the typical actress crap they have to deal with in Hwood, and got out of it intact, which is to her credit. And if it is Sarah, that just makes me respect her more.
BTW, I sort of met her when I worked at the Genie's years ago. She was there with her family because she was in Ramona. My co-worker said "Oh! You're Ramona!" and the wee girl just blushed and gave a tiny smile. No pretentions like some Hwood kids might have. So I have always been rooting for her since and am glad that she has made a solid career for herself without all the ego and bullshit that someone like Lohan has.
Alicia Silverstone has a line of makeup tools that you can buy at Ulta called ecotools (http://www.ecotools.com/shop-collection/ecotools). I saw it last year. The line launched in 2008. I believe she is also coming out with a line of makeup soon too. Google it.
