Today's Blind Items- The Six Months That Almost Killed Him
For a six month period a few years back, this A list mostly movie actor who has come dangerously close to dropping to B list almost killed himself by his actions. The actor, foreign born and a big star all over the world found himself at a party where he met a C list celebrity. 90 minutes after meeting her, they were in bed together, and that included 45 minutes for traffic. Six months later he was a shell of the man he was before he began seeing her. With his dating of the celebrity, our actor spent night after night awake having sex with the celebrity. This led to drinking which is never good for this particular actor. This led to more serious substance issues to keep him awake during filming, when he showed up. The movie he was working on at the time had to change its schedule numerous times because the actor would not show up, or if he did would be hungover and exhausted and none of that includes the times he was too busy having sex with his celebrity on set to be bothered to come out until he was finished. He has said the sex was like nothing he ever had before. She did things he did not think were possible and would often show up with one or two women in tow to try and make it even crazier for him. A couple of times he suspected she was also with other guys despite all the time they were spending together. That, coupled with the fact his agent said people were talking about not giving him the role he wanted for his next movie because of his actions on the one he was working on, eventually caused him to dump her, but she had a surprise left up her sleeve which he would discover later.

Does del Toro ever look like he hasn't slept in months? How could anyone tell the difference.
If it is Benicio, the movie he was filming was Savages and the role that he wanted was Pablo Escobar in Paradise Lost (which is filming now).
But the timing really doesn't work very well. Their baby was born in Aug 2011, so they must have broken up in early 2011. So he would have had to be filming in the last half of 2010. But Savages came out in July 2012. Is it possible that it took 1.5 years to come out?
Also, the Pablo Escobar role wasn't announced until November 2012, so that's a long time after they would have broken up in early 2011.
A coupla things...
- BIs usually describe actors like Benicio as Oscar winner/nominee; no mention of that here.
- He was born in Puerto Rico which is a territory of the USA, although some people would still consider that "foreign-born."
- Despite his success, I don't know if BDT is exactly a "big star around the world."
- On the other hand, the word "traffic" in the blind may be a clue for BDT's Oscar-winning role.
Maybe its Gerard Butler and the surprise (not!) was an SDT.
I also think it's BDT and Kimberly Stewart. But I find it hard to believe that she led him astray and to booze and drugs. He's always struck me as a booze hound and a man slut anyway.

Benico is a much bigger star overseas than he is here, he's huge in Europe, which fits Enty's description. So it could work with some fudges with specifics. But I think we should keep thinking and not go with the first answer, even if it does somewhat work.
Kimberly Stuart is "C" list? I don't think so. She's pretty much a nobody.

"Almost killed him" makes me think something more nefarious than a baby. I was picturing BDT and Stewart when I read it, but I don't think it's them.

It may not have been what she was doing, but more of the chemistry between the two of them. When it's on like that, it's very powerful. They don't call it magnetism for nothing.
I agree. Mostly it's not what you are doing but who you are doing it with that matters. Chemistry is a powerful thing.

I thought of Mel and Oksana. The surprise being the baby. Mel has been on the verge of dropping anyway - his movies have not done well. But he has so many good movies that play all the time on TV that I think that keeps him at A.
