Ryan Phillipe still has a career?
Reesey
wasnt THAT good. A million better teen movies in that genre.
Heathers
Clueless
Pretty in Pink
Spring Breakers
Mean Girls
Less than Zero
Selma Blair--I like how she hands her baby off to strangers so that she can cry on park benches.
I love me some Reese, even when she's a raging, drunken bitch!!!!!
Joshua Jackson - Pacey 4-evah!!!
Hate to admit - but I thought that movie was pretty hot back in the days...
Guess my favorite from that movie would be Selma Blair?
After all, she was the inspiration for my profile pic here! ;)
I still think 10 things I hate about you tops all those.
One Reesey to go.
Great list @Derek Harvey!
I haven't seen Spring Breakers, but all the rest definitely top Cruel Intentions.
Another horrible teen movie that I hate to admit I must watch if I ever see it on cable - Can't Hardley Wait. Love Seth Green in that one!
My fav was the black guy that was Selmas lover
Blair's butt.
SMG/Kathryn
Sebastian Valmont.
REESE
I'm with @AJ
I can't think of this movie and not hear Bitter Sweet Symphony
1 Ryan Philippe's Burn Book
2 Swoosie Kurtz
3 The classmate in the final scene who shakes her head in judgment before principal finds SMG's coke stash
I <3 the Verve
Reese played the hollywood game & public better than any of them...she's not a nice person, but still has a good girl image...
Reese may be a horrible person in real life, but I love watching her in movies. She's a decent actress who's adorable and comes across as fun and genuine.
Better SMG/Kathryn!
Uh, nobody. Didn't care for that one.
I've never seen that movie but I do agree 10 Things I Hate About You and Heathers are the best.
"Did you have a brain tumor for breakfast?"
"What, is it a*hole day?"
@crila16, I agree. I'm a not-so-closeted Reese lover and would share boxed wine with her any day.
@Seven, "Well, f*ck me gently with a chainsaw. Do I look like Mother Theresa?"
Censored that for you. ;)
My ex girlfriend LOVED this movie. Loved it.
Did y'all know Tara Reid was in this movie?
"You are a slut. You are a slut. You are a slut."
omg!
i love boxed wine.
& drink beers w/ a straw.
i'm a classy broad like that.
Any movie that Joshua Jackson is in, makes him my automatic favorite. ;)
Thanks for posting, Lotta. I love that song!
@Seven I think one of the girls from Heathers actually died of a brain tumor!
Never saw it, but I do like Reese. I like her more now that I know she likes to cut loose and tie one on.
Wow, @Sass71, I didn't know that! It was Kim Walker - the Heather who said the line, "Did you eat a brain tumor for breakfast?" She died of brain cancer at 32. How sad.
I remember watching Poltergeist when I was a kid and being a wee bit terrified, and the sequels weren't exactly as scary but still not bedtime fodder. All grown up and I found out how many actors on those movies died untimely deaths. {shudder}
This movie is one of my favorites, although I haven't seen it recently. I also loved Stephen Frears' 'Dangerous Liasons', which was based on the same 18th century source material. (Didn't think much of 'Valmont', though, which was Milos Foreman's version.)
Both Ryan Philippe and John Malkovich did great interpretations of the Valmont character; I'm a Phillippe, and also liked him in Gosford Park and Igby Goes Down.
The Michelle Pfieffer/Reese Witherspoon character is kind of a good-two-shoes, thankless role. SMG was great in the Volanges role, but she was no Glenn Close. Also liked Uma better in the Cecile character, although Selma Blair was good.
Funny that both movies chose a nonwhite actor for the music teacher character. Too bad that Sean Patrick Thomas hasn't had a better career; I think he was talented. Keanu Reeves has come a long way with what little acting talent he had.
@Seven If you have some time to kill, I love findadeath.com. That's where I read about Kim.
Selma Blair - The snotty rich girl persona works for me.
This movie was so nasty sexy I never let my kids watch it and they're 21 now. .. That and that damn Denise Richards movie with Matt whatsisname
The guy that played the dorky one who wanted to "feed Africa" in Heathers died from suicide as well.
Spring Breakers suuuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkkkkeeddddd
Empire Records!!!!!! And Can't Hardly Wait. I saw Ethan Embry on CSI the other day, he grew up! What??
I loved this movie back in the day. SMG can play a bitch like no one's business (maybe not acting?).
ZOMG! I love Can't Hardly Wait!
And TTM, it seems like you need to watch Bridesmaids too! You'll understand my compliment from the other day much better after you see it.
That was, without doubt, one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It didn't have to be that way, either. The material's been made into at least watchable films before. And even "updated" as this version was (which I usually don't like) the characters could have been fun--in a sick, twisted kind of way. But of all the principal roles, only Selma Blair did a credible job of acting. Reese Witherspoon seemed to be able to do little but simpering; Ryan Philippe played "Sebastian" as if the boy had GAY QUEEN painted on his forehead, even though the kid was supposed to be a lady-killer; and Sarah Michelle Gellar's "Kathryn" had about as much sex appeal as an artichoke, plus being apparently unable even to deliver a line intelligibly.
Never saw it. It made not a blip on my radar.
Heathers, though...
Never saw this movie either. Now I must go read the cast list. IMDB here I come.
SMG was hot in this movie. (Didn't care for it overall, other than her...)
I LOVED Dangerous Liaisons . Everyone in that film did such an excellent job in conveying the bored malaise of 18 th century France. You FEEL the frozen horror Glenn Close feels when she is shunned by society when her cruel game is exposed. For her, life is over, and it shows..
Man, I need to see this again.
This version with SMG and R Philippe just suuuuucked. The innocent so artfully played by Michelle Pfeiffer was turned into a village idiot by Selma Blair.. I could go on ...sorry :-\ I guess I read too much Georgette Heyer
1. Laura Jeanne Poon, American Citizen
2. SMG
3. Michelle Pfeiffer, oh wait, wrong version
