Not this one either
If I were going up to receive an award, it would piss me off to no end that someone else went up there trying to be funny while I had to wait to give my acceptance speech. Unless they worked out this "bit" beforehand, this was bad form on Jimmy's part.
Oh Gwen. Something tells me this was your first AND last round at the Emmys. Did you forget to sufficiently warm up with your Bumblebee scales backstage? Or did you just finish saying "toy boat" ten times really quickly? What did you DO?! Hopefully, Mr Secret Acupuncturist can help with that! I love Colbert, he deserves this! Fallon was great here but he laughed during the cowbell skit and other classics, so we have some beef to work through still...
Word Firefighter! How are ya doin handsome?
I thought it was funny! Finally something different. And Gwen umm looked sooooo pretty.
I thought it was rude too NJ, but then I went back and checked and you can see that it seemed like it might (maybe?) have been staged.
I hated it too, even though the show needed the spontaneity desperately. As if Fallon hasn't won enough. He does seem like a nice guy though, so I should think it was staged. Colbert and Jon Stewart used to do this stuff all the time.
I'm good, sexy @Lady. How you doin?
You know I'm elated over my show's sweep last night! Plus it's a gorgeous day, no complaints! Stop by here more often! I always love me some FIREFIGHTER! ;)
That's the only way I'd ever get one
Glad to hear it @Lady! I am always around, I just don't always have time to comment. BTW, if I looked like that, I would NEVER have time to be on here :)
I think it was staged. Fallon seems like a nice guy, and the connection between them Seemed genuine.
clearly staged. meh.
Fallon and Colbert have done a lot of bits together on each other's shows. Colbert showed up on the first night of the Tonight Show and poured a bucket of pennies on Fallon. While this may not have been entirely rehearsed or staged, I don't think Fallon jumped up there without some form of consent from Colbert. Considering the previous late night wars between Leno, Letterman, O'Brien, it's kind of nice to see the current group getting along and laughing together.
It all looked staged to me, but still funny.
Remember the 2011(?) Emmys when Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Mellissa McCarthy et al went up on stage together to wait for the winner to be announced? I think Fallon and Colbert were aiming for the same uncomfortable/surprised laughs.
It was almost definitely planned. Fallon and Colbert are friends, and even if Fallon was drunk, I doubt that he'd upstage anyone like that at such a huge event. Did you see them walking off stage together afterward? That was so cute!
